Was assigned this company by Home warranty of America for emergency A/C repairs on Sat. Aug.29 at 7:00a have never received a call from Cavins or any type or response as of yet( Monday Aug.31), after reading reviews not sure why HWA is still assigning this company to there customers very unprofessional not reliable. why have a home warranty when you have take it upon your self to get repairs done with extra out of pocket expenses to keep from having to be without A/C for entire weekend with 95 + degree weather. 😡😡
Called them they said they could be out in an hour or the next morning I chose the next morning because I had a little window unit to keep me cool. Came out on time found the problem. Price was reasonable will use again.
I will start by saying do not let these guys in your home or around your equipment.
We were also a victim of HWA sending these guys out to our house to fix our A/C. The first trip out they "replaced" a valve that was "leaking" on the outside unit and recharged our Freon. It cost us $190, not covered, right. After about a week, the A/C was still not cooling, so they sent them back out again, wait for it....
This time they said we needed a new coil in the attic unit, which would be covered, however because of "Obama" we also needed to replace the outside unit because we had an old system using R22 and we needed to change to the new 410A to match the new coil. They would not cover "upgrading" the outside unit to the new 410A, estimated price $3800.00. We were shown maps of where the new regulations were in place, told not to fight with HWA because they would just buy out the issue at $400, that if we fought and got bought out we would have to replace everything on our own, estimated price $7000.00. Wait for it....
So we fought with HWA for about a month and a half, we got all the way to the presidents desk, not the president, just his desk and someone named Nemo! Nemo was not budging, they were only going to pay to replace the coil, we would have to pay Cavin's the $3800.00 to replace the outside unit so it would match the new coil and the new 410A requirement. Cavin's even called us a couple times to check to see where we were in the process, said if we need them to come out and add Freon to hold us over they would, warned us again about fighting HWA. Sooooo......
I decided to call the A/C company that I use to see what it would cost to "legitimately" replace our unit. His first question was "Why am I changing my unit?" I told him what was going on and he said our house was still fairly new and it probably already had a 410A unit, so I sent him a picture of the unit. The unit placard was "missing" but just by looking at the name of the unit, he knew we had a 410A system. No need to replace !!!!! Wait for it.......
I went back to look at my original receipt from the first "repair" and there it was, Cavin's invoice stated "replaced 2Lbs of 410A freon". So we got Nemo back on the phone, told him what we found out, and told them that Cavin's was trying to scam us into buying a new unit. He sent out a different company that confirmed everything that my A/C guy said. He also said the "replaced" valve from the first repair was not replaced, that he had no idea how Cavin's knew the coil was bad because the insulation around the unit housing the coils had to be cut away, and it wasn't. And that he had to go behind this company and fix their "work" 3 times that week. HWA paid to replace the coil, and credited us the $190 from the first "repair". I only wonder how many elderly and unsuspecting have fallen prey to Cavin's.
HWA knows what Cavin's is doing out there, so I say again, stay as far away from these two companies as you can, I'm sure someone smarter than me could find evidence of collusion between these two companies.
Calvins went out of their way to help me!!! Calvins kept their promise and made sure my new A/C unit would be installed in a professional and timely matter..Calvins went above and beyond. I recommend Calvins for all heating and cooling needs..
Cavins should NOT be handling claims for Home Warranty of America. Either Cavins seriously lacks communication skills or they upfront LIE about timelines and document submissions to HWA. I’ll spare the details as they mirror the other negative posts. RUDE and deceptive!!
I highly recommend Cavins. They have always been reliable, honest, on time and really do a terrific job. This is the only place I use for any AC work. Cheers!
Tech arrived on time and explained to me exactly how the system is supposed to work. I will definitely use them in the future and highly recommend this company.
