Cool Z Heating

My air conditioning system stopped cooling late last night so I called Cool Z Heating first thing this morning. The service department called me back to tell me they could come out around 1:00 today. A service rep callled again to let me know how the technician's schedule was shaping up, and called a third time to let me know he was on his way. I was really impressed with this level of responsiveness. The technician arrived about 1:15, diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor and gave me a price within 10 minutes or so. By 2:30, he'd completed his work and was out the door. I didn't catch the technician's name, but I was greatly impressed with this man who did an excellent job explaining what was wrong and what he was going to do to repair the system. He's a great asset to this company which clearly has customer service at the top of their priorities!

We had Cool Z heating service both our boilers on our two flat last year and had him replace one boiler from 1987 this year!!! He is honest, kind, curteous, and is everything you would want in a HVAC company. Out of the four people we called, he was the second lowest and price matched the lowest quote. As a new hone owner I was out of my element when it came to heating maintenance and he was always available to answer my questions with knowledge and patience. He respected that this was an enormous purchase for us and I am glad we were recommended him by a friend in the community. I highly recommend him to anyone needing to get their furnace or boiler maintained for the yearly maintenance of cleaning and servicing and should you have to replace a boiler, give him a call and get a quote. I called around noon and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. That was great as it was a hot August day in Cicero, IL. I did ask in case they could come later that night and they said it was hard to schedule a same day visit but they'd try.Impressive communication, I must say. The visit was to the point, Mark asked about the problem and proceeded to check the outside unit and within five minutes came to show me a burnt-out part that needed repair. He said I could buy it myself or he had some in the car. He replaced the part, he cleaned the outside unit, he brought a light to show me the issue in the inside unit and the system was back at work. He mentioned my unit is old and may need to be totally replaced sooner than later; I've heard this before but we're not ready for the investment so I thanked him for his recommendation. Overall, everything went great, it was fast, and the communication from the company is excellent.

I had scheduled a clean and check at a rental apartment I owned. Coincidentally the tenant had complained the morning of the appointment about the furnace not staying on long enough to heat the unit. When Maciej from Cool Z Heating arrived, I mentioned the issue, and he quickly spotted the problem was a safety switch shutting off the burners because it was in danger of overheating causing damage to the internal components.

So the furnace was continually firing up, then shutting off to cool down, but would never sufficiently heat up the unit. After doing a thorough check of the components and some testing including checking out the duct work, he determined the furnace wasn't getting enough return air--the contractor who had done a gut rehab of the unit and installed the furnace didn't provide enough return vents. The best solution would have been to redo the duct work but that would have been quite costly. Maciej then presented me a few other options that would resolve the problem with one being creating a return vent directly on the furnace.

After finishing the scheduled clean and check, we set a date to do the repair about a week later. That did the trick and the furnace has worked fine ever since including through the brutally cold 2013/2014 winter.

I called at 8:45 on Friday afternoon because my furnace was not working when I got home. I was surprised when someone answered, he was pleasant and ready to help me. Wow. I couldn't have been more surprised. I could not have been more impressed. Good job.
