As it was time to sign up for the next year's home heating oil delivery, we contacted Dominick (now part of HOP Energy) to see what the new prices would be. Initially we had a bit of miscommunication, but their customer service rep named Luna took the time to clear up the misunderstanding and provide us with a fair contract. After the initial frustration, it was a very positive interaction with the company, and we look forward to our continued relationship.

I paid $300+ for a maintenance agreement. As part of the agreement I scheduled a heating system maintenance. The technician came to my home and was very nice, but after he finished the basement started filling with smoke. I quickly turned of my heater and called him back and asked to look to see what went wrong, he came back and told me that the air transfer chamber was cracked and that i would need to keep the heater unit of and to keep my the electric heater on till someone could change it. I explained that I bought the home with a ThermoPride unit and that every other technician told how great it was and that it has a life time warranted, because of the quarter inch thick air transfer chamber. He just left and was very rude when I told him that I had just brought home my seven day old baby. I then called Dominic Fuel and asked them to send someone for a second opinion because I did not trust the opinion of the young technician.They sent me a technician that had over 25 year of experience called Carlos. (He is from Portugal, very nice and knows his stuff) The first thing that Carlos did when he got to my home was take the cover off the fire chamber and put his hand in front, he looked over to me said that no-way that the air transfer chamber was cracked because if it was his hand would burn when the heater was turned on. He looked the heater over for a few minutes and told me that the other technician may have cracked a fuel line in the firing chamber when he changed a transformer that turned on the pilot light on. I was very happy that Carlos had fixed the issue, until three mouths later when I got a bill for a service call for $1000+. I called right away to see what that bill was about, and was told that I called for a no heat service call.... ya fifteen minutes the first service technician left. I have been calling to three or for people and they still can't under stand that my heating system was working fine, till I had the scheduled maintenance. I will not pay this bill, it is not right. I have never felt that I have been more ripped off like I feel with Dominic Fuel.

The technician did a great job! However the call center kept me on hold for over 15 minutes. There were never this understaffed when it was family owned. I am afraid HOP energy is not putting the effort into customer service.

Dominick used to be the best by far. Since HOP Energy has taken over the service has degraded as the old Dominick people have left (or been fired). They cap plans are predatory (.45 per gallon fee) and if you do not subscribe to them they charge you the highest retail fee they can (Dominick always gave the best price). Reliable delivery, but now it comes a price that is not competitive with others.

There was a mistake regarding my bill. Rather than turning into a "blame game" they graciously fixed the mistake. Jonathan was my customer service rep and he was extremely helpful in resolving the problem. The whole team is very professional.
