JW Hanson Heating and Air

I will add to the reviews saying they don't care about their customers. Apparently there have been a number of HVAC companies in our area retiring or moving, so for the moment there is plenty of work, so they feel they don't have to care about repeat business. I have used this company for 8 years spending thousands of dollars on a radiant heating system which they replaced, serviced and repaired. About 2 years ago, I had them service 3 minisplit AC/Heat units in other buildings on our property. A couple of months ago, I started getting complaints about one that was in a room we use as an "Airbnb". I didn't have a good feeling about the person from Hanson who did this service, so I called a different company to come out and see what was wrong. They found a completely clogged wheel that had 5+ years of dirt in it according to technician (which was when I had previously serviced it). I have attached a video that the technician at Adam's Heating and Cooling made for me. As I mentioned, it was an Airbnb, so had been empty for at least a year of the 2 years since Hanson had done service due to COVID. I contacted Will to ask that he have someone come and check the other 2 supposedly serviced units as I was worried they were probably clogged too and could be dangerous (I didn't ask for a refund for previous service or reimbursement for the $310 it cost to re-service this unit. He basically laughed in my face and told me I was ridiculous for thinking he would stand by service that was 2 years old. I was dumbfounded. He was basically calling me a liar. My husband and I own a large property with many "moving parts" and I have different service people out here almost weekly, and I have NEVER EVER experienced service this atrocious. DO not give these people your business.

I realize my situation may be somewhat unique in that I have a home built in the early 70s with no AC or ducting (heating system is old hot water hydronic baseboards.
Had Will out to investigate putting in a complete HVAC system with heat pumps. Really enjoyed his attitude and great energy. He had great ideas and I was on board.

Bottom line, he ghosted us… I called the office a week or 2 after the preliminary visit and he was on vacation. I was assured I’d hear back on his return… an month and a half has passed and crickets.

I can understand not wanting the job but the professional way to handle that would have been to let me know- really surprised that he’s a local business with great reviews.

Hanson Heating and Air just came out and installed a whole house fan. They were awesome. I spoke with Kim on the phone to book the appointment. She was great. Polite, professional and courteous. Eli was the technician that came out. Great guy. Very polite, thorough and very clean. I was at the house to greet him and then had to leave. I wasn't there when he installed the fan, my wife was. She got the job done fast and my wife said he was very easy to have in the house. That says a lot! Well done Hanson! Thanks for the great service.

J W Hanson did an excellent job in installing a new furnace, water heater and a/c.

We recently asked them back to check our air conditioning air flow. Lynn managed to get us a prompt appointment and Eli came out to inspect our system. He spent a lot of time in each room and up and down our attic to thoroughly get the balance and flow adjusted just right for each room and didn't leave until we were completely happy --very impressed and we cannot speak more highly of JW Hanson and their employees.

We will definitely use them in future and wholeheartedly recommend them to others.

Hanson Heating & Air has given us great furnace service for the past 8 years. Initially, they replaced an old under-house furnace and moved the new Trane furnace into the attic, with a clever re-use of the existing supply lines throughout the house. They have done periodic tune-ups and maintenance as needed. Also, they were willing and able to remove excess natural gas lines the previous owner had set up under our house to feed an addition, which required lots of crawl-space work. JW Hanson himself did our initial proposal inspection, and was the only contractor willing to actually go in under our house to look at the existing worn-out furnace before bidding the new one; all of the other team members who have helped us since have been equally can-do and professional. We're thankful they cover Marin County.

We've had 3 homes in Marin in 34 years and plenty of HVAC experiences. Hands down Hanson's provided the most professional, timely, and valuable assistance we've ever had servicing and installing heating systems here. Quality team, managed by a calm, reassuring detail freak- Will Hanson. You can't go wrong with these people.

My entire experience with Hanson Heating & Air has been exceptional. From my first phone call to schedule a boiler maintenance to the actual service call. The office staff was friendly, returned calls promptly and confirmed the service time and date. Will showed up on-time, quickly diagnosed a maintenance issue and fixed it. A service call doesn't get any better. I highly recommend Hanson Heating & Air.

We have had issues with our instant heat boiler for years. JW Hanson sent out their most experienced boiler technician. He resolved the issue within 15 min. He then inspected the entire system and told us what issues we should remedy so that the boiler would be more efficient.
I highly recommend this company to anyone with a boiler or for any heat issue.

In the winter our heater would quit working on cold days. Hanson did an outstanding job of analyzing our heater problems and recommending an upgrade. Hanson did a very professional installation and tutorial on the use of the new system. I highly recommend this company for all HVAC work.

Hanson Heating and Air consistently does an excellent job of periodically servicing our radiant home heating system. Ely is especially friendly and always finds time to explain the problem and the fix to this interested homeowner, and Hanson’s office staff are the nicest.
