4 star for service. 1 star for disclosing the price upfront. We had them come to inspect the furnace that was not working. They charge $129/visit whether it takes 2 hr or 5 mins. They gave me quote of $600 to fix control panel which Al did another day. That was the great part.
7 days later I installed a WIFI thermostat and the heater stopped working. I went to the furnace and realized the furnace c wire was not connected. Did this and got power to thermostat, but suddenly the heater stopped. The control board went into 'standby' mode. I turned off the power and I asked them to come take a look. They said will charge $129 again, which was ok to me. They came and just had to turn on the system and somehow it started working. The system just needed a time to reset internally. They came and spent I will look for someone more reasonable and professional next time around.
Richard's did a great job replacing our two a/c and heating systems. Their price was very competitive. They were extremely professional, always on time, cleaned up after themselves, and explained what they were doing at all times. We're very happy with their work. Dan both scoped the project and then lead the installation. We would definitely use them again.
We heard of Richards through a referral on Nextdoor. Our ac system was not working properly, so called and made an appointment. They were available the next day between one and three, and showed up at 2:30. They touched base to say that they were on the way. Bonus! We have an old ac system , and were afraid that we would be pressured into buying something we didn’t want. When the technician arrived he was personable & professional . He found the issue and addressed it and we felt that it was a fair price. It turned out we needed a new capacitor and motor. He didn’t have the motor on hand , but checked with dispatching to see what his schedule was the next day and returned promptly with said motor. Again, after letting us know he was on the way. Kudos to Olim Toscano, the ac tech- a great employee!!!
Alex (the service manager at Richards) came to my house to troubleshoot my A/C. The compressor was shutting off in hot weather. He said that I needed to replace the compressor or install a new condenser unit and that either would remedy the problem. He replaced the compressor and charged us $1200. It did not fix the problem. Before he left my house, I asked what to do if I had a problem. He said that I wouldn’t because condensers last 10 years. When I called him back in to re-diagnose, he said that I would have to spray the coils with water whenever the compressor shuts off. Alex from Richards HVAC misdiagnosed the problem, charged me $1200 and left me in exactly the same spot I was to begin with. I understand that mistakes happen when diagnosing complicated HVAC systems, but the expense should be the business owner, not the customer.
I called to see if I could schedule an appointment for maintenance and inspection. I left a message with the office and Richard called me back within 15 minutes. He was helpful and got me scheduled quickly. I had made many phone calls to other service providers, he was the most prompt and helpful. Many still haven't called me back even hours later.
This guy is AMAZING!!!! It was going on midnight and no one was returning my calls. The twist is I am here on the east coast, just outside of Baltimore. I was terrified I've never heard any sounds like that in the 5 years i've lived in this apartment. I know nothing about furnaces, I mean NOTHING. I was soo scared, was this a fire hazard? was it leaking something poisionous?? The thought came to me "it's only 8:30pm on the west coast", Is there a chance a repair person in that nice state of California would be kind and listen to the noice from over the phone? I realized whoever I called might just hung up on me. Afterall, obviously I would not be resulting in a visit/sale, but I felt desperate. I randmoly pulled up google and saw Richard's Heating & Air repair, I thought this sounded like a company that would be big enough to know a lot and small enough to care. And I was right!!! Richard so generously took my call and expertly assessed my situation. He did seem intrigued by my cross country call, but he was not detered in the least to help me if he could. He must know these machines inside and out becasue even when I decribed things by calling them 'shoebox looking' or 'wiggly wire', he knew exactly what I was trying to decribe and then he'd lead me to the next wire or gadget to work on fixing the problem. He walked me through everything, my hands were shaking, but I could tell Richard was too good to fail! He was my hero!! A man who really knows his craft! We got to the bottom of the problem. It was not an emergancy yay. I will need to call a local repair service in the morning. You guys in California are so blessed to have this guy to fix your stuff! Richard,.If your business ever wants to relocate to Maryland I will recommend you to all my friends and family!!!!!! YOU A THE BEST!!! Thank you so much! Staci M. Glen Burnie Md.
Customer service is horrible. I live in an apartment complex and our ac has been out for two weeks in 90 degree weather and we have been trying to get it fixed One day they were supposed to come in and we were expecting them all day and they never came in so we asked our manager why they hadn’t come in and they said that they had knocked on the door and we didn’t answer when in reality we never heard the knock and we were always in the living room because that was where our fan was on and that’s how we kept cool so the manager rescheduled and finally they came in only to find out that we had to replace our ac entirely so we asked when would it be fixed and the man said that they would have to order it so he didn’t know when it would be officially fixed. A few days past and we asked our manager when they would fix her AC and she said “didn’t they already fix it” and we said no, they told us that they had to replace the entire unit, to which she responded “oh they never told me that” so she rescheduled it again today and I was here all day by myself and in these apartments we have thin walls in my room I can hear just about anything that goes on in the kitchen and even if the door knocks and again we never heard a knock and I open the door because I heard my doordasher knock to deliver my food and a card fell(the company card) and I called myself to see if I could reschedule and they lady who answered was rude
