This is hands down the best HVAC company I've worked with. Honest and fair pricing, plus they're a local business. Glen was great and super knowledgeable. He also fixed some other things he came across during the heating repair that many other companies would have just ignored, which I know from past experiences. I no doubt will be using Robert's in the future. Update as of Oct. 27, 2022: I have used Robert’s for more than two years now and required some AC-related repairs this fall. Glen IV took care of ordering a part that was under warranty and replaced it. He is extremely detailed, honest and just a great guy to work with. There is no other HVAC company I will work with as along as I live in this area.

Based on a referral from friends, we consulted Roberts about replacing our full HVAC system. Our 15-year-old system has been inefficient from day one and increasingly so over the years. We also wanted to upgrade to dual zone thermostat control to see if we can get a better consistency of climate in our duplex apartment. Glen spent a lot of time with us explaining what the options were before we signed on. The installation team, led by John and Eli, did very thorough and professional work and handled problems that cropped up with ingenuity and care. Everyone on the team was extremely polite and friendly and gave clear explanations of the work being done. The new system is fantastic -- it's turning on far less often and our house feels comfortable throughout instead of there being a massive temperature difference between upstairs and down. It was an expensive upgrade, but we are 100% happy with what we're getting from our investment.

I had my AC compressor replaced by Roberts heating and Air, At that time I was offered a extend warranty that would covers my whole HVAC system for a additional $750 (which I accepted). The year after I had a part in my heater go bad, when I told them I had the extended warranty I was told “it only covers 10% of parts”. I asked why I wasn’t told this when I purchased the warranty? The reply I got was “sorry”. My heat stopped working on a Friday night, I was quoted $1000.00 to fix since it was after hours by Glen, or I would have to wait till Monday during business hours to get my heat working again. It was the beginning of January and I couldn’t wait 3 days without heat nor did I want to pay $1000.00 to get my heat working again so I called another company which came out right away and had me running again for $240.00. Roberts heating & air conditioning does good work, but will take advantage of you the minute they can. I highly recommend getting other quotes when it comes to repairs. You would assume a company would be more flexible to a customer that just spend thousands on a new AC compressor, but not Roberts. I will never use Roberts again, all they care about is money.

Recently my a/c unit stopped working. I wanted to use a local business and after checking online reviews, I called Roberts. Scott checked my system and replaced the motor start capacitor, also adding a boost (extra) capacitor to make it more reliable. He also checked the refrigerant and found that my air conditioner was fully charged and operating efficiently. Thanks to Scott, my system is now working well, and he said I should not need to replace it for several more years. Yes, there is a $119 service charge, and they carefully remind you of this when you call. I think that is fair. I am completely satisfied with the work done and I will use them again when it's time to replace my system. I highly recommend Roberts Heating & Air Conditioning of Northbrook.

Following up on a previous review. The owner, Keith, came to our house today when our air conditioning unit failed during a hot summer day. Keith diagnosed and fixed the issue very quickly. Keith was very professional and apologized for our previous negative experience. We are completely satisfied with their response to our concerns and look forward to using Roberts in the future.

Our furnace went out at our company office, so we called up Roberts to come take a look. Glen Roberts IV came out and got everything up and running ASAP. We needed a new belt for our blower, and he had the part in his truck. No waiting for a part to be ordered necessary. He was very courteous, and took the time to explain everything he was doing. He even made adjustments to reduce the noise from the blower in our office area, and adjusted a couple vents to address some minor complaints from our employees. All in all a great, quick visit! Thanks Glen!

Scott Altpeter came out to see us today after our furnace stopped working. He was quick, professional and personable. In addition he was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a lesson in heating the house efficiently in the hot summer months and the cold winter months. We plan on having Scott come back for all our maintenance on both of our furnace and AC. Highly recommend!!!

Thank you to service tech (Glenn), sales (Dave Jackson) and installer (Brandon Bary). Air went out in the heat of summer. They got to my job as soon as their schedule allowed. I've called on them for semi-annual maintence checks since 2003. Always timely and courteous.

Furnace went out on Sunday. Jordan (svc tech) returned my call within 10 minutes. Diagnosed inducer motor seized and would get part first thing Monday morning. Jordan arrived Monday morning and installed motor....furnace working great. Jordan is an excellent tech, professional and takes care of issue. I have used Roberts 3 times in past (either Jordan or Charles). Both are very knowledgeable techs, accurately diagnose the issue the first time, and do what they say they are going to do. Robert's is top notch. I won't use any other provider for my HVAC needs.

Be aware! Rip off tactics. See one more review bellow. I called to ROBERTS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING to repair one leaking joint in a copper pipe of my radiant heating system. They sent a crew for "diagnosis". I knew the diagnosis upfront. It is a leaking joint. The guy spent 3 minutes looking making his diagnosis and charged me whooping 119 $ for his expertise. Best lawyers in the country doesn't have such rates. I asked for him to provide a quote. He never did. Then 7 days later crew of two arrived for repair leaking joint. I asked what are they are going to charge me upfront. They said around 200-250$. I said OK please proceed then. There were no need for two people onsite to do this repair. One of the repair crew members was doing pretty much nothing. After about one o two weeks I got the bill with the following two lines: 1. Failed piping joint diagnosis - 119$ - rip off 2. Repiped as needed with new pipe fitting and valve - 429$ - another rip off Do not recommend. They lost me as a customer. Please ask for written a quote, ask how much is "diagnosis" upfront and do not rely on their integrity like I did.

I've had the Roberts crew out to my home several times, but I just wanted to give them a shout out. Recently, Mike came to service my home as my blower motor died. He went out of his way to be accommodating (as I have a little one), was very communicative, and incredible helpful. I couldn't recommend this company any more!

I spoke on July 14th(Saturday NIght) with them about their 24 hours emergency service. Their on call guy called me to check what is the job. After learning that it may be difficult, it turned out that he has 3 other jobs "tonight" and one tomorrow before he can come to us. What was interesting was that he told me that he has to go to 3 different suburbs and will be done around 11 pm which will be too late. I called at 8:30 and even the driving around the suburbs that he mentioned would take longer than 2.5 hours. We have 4 kids at home with summer heat in Chicago. He could at least tell me that he is too tired and can come in the morning. Why are they advertising 24 hour emergency number ,when that is not true?!
