I'm giving 4 stars because I feel the company is reputable. For the technician that came out I would give zero stars. Anctil indicated they were short staffed so we could not get the technician we wanted. My furnace would ignite and immediately shut off the gas 20 second later. I explained to the technician the exact sequence of how the furnace was starting and shutting down. He swore there were no issues with the furnace. Everything was working properly. He swore it was my third party, highly rated thermostat. He finally convinced me to put a new thermostat in (without the features I wanted). He was very argumentative. $300 later, and my furnace was now intermittently shutting down before coming up to temperature. Did some research and the symptoms indicated a faulty flame sensor. After purchasing a $9 part on Amazon, and installing it myself, my furnace now works again. Spent $300 on a unnecessary thermostat because the technician did not diagnose the problem correctly.
In the fall of 2021 we noticed our AC unit was not able to keep the house to the setting we had, 75-76 degrees, and called Anctil as we had used them before and had good experience. They came out and said we likely had a leak in our system somewhere but to wait until the spring of 2022 to fix it as it would not make sense at the time. Fast forward to April 2022 and someone came out to do a leak test. They said the valves on the compressor were leaking so they replaced them and then charged our system with R-410A. $140 for the first pound, $95 per pound after that. It took 6 pounds total. The AC seemed to work ok the summer of 2022. We turned it on for the first time late April 2023 when we hit 90 and had the same issue we were having in the fall of 2021, set to 76 and not able to keep it cool at that temp. Quickly called Anctil back and they sent someone out the following business day. They said we had another leak somewhere and we would have to start all over. They thought the leak was likely in the evaporator coil and that it would be minimum $2,500 to fix it, if not significantly more. I asked given they fixed it a year ago, would they work with us on something to help us out given we were already $800 in the hole from a year ago. The service manager literally did not respond on the phone and just sat there. I asked can you please help us out here somehow? His reply finally was, "leaks happen all the time, just because we fixed one doesn't mean you didn't get a new one 2 days or 200 hundred days later." So now $800 has evaporated and they won't do anything. I reviewed the paperwork again from the "fix" in 2022 and realized that they probably found the leak int eh valves, replaced them and never did the leak test they said they did as there is no line item charge for a leak test on our receipt. They gave us a quote for a whole new unit given it would be so expensive to fix the current one that is 13 years old. I called one more time to try to discuss again with the service manager and they said he was not at his phone and would call me back. He never called back. I would not recommend Anctil for any repairs. They do shoddy work, don't stand by the work they do, and are not customer friendly. I will get a new unit from someone else, same one Anctil quoted, for much cheaper and they were more helpful than Anctil was and I haven't even paid them a cent... Don't waste you time, go somewhere else.
Anctil installed our new furnace and were very friendly and professional and reasonably priced. Recently our new thermostat was not working properly and Chris came out and diagnosed the problem and installed a new thermostat the same day. I would definitely recommend Anctil Heating & Cooling and also Chris as technician.
The home warranty company worked with Anctil to do an AC tune-up. They didn't report any issues. We turned on the air for the first time this past weekend and the AC is not blowing cold air. Worst case they broke something during the tune-up and best case (and still bad) is that the tech didn't identify that there was a major issue. Either way, I'm glad the home warranty is sending over a different company to fix it.
After an extremely hot summer and a 20 year old noisy A/C unit, I decided to pull the trigger on a new system. For the life of me I couldn't get anyone to call me back for an estimate, or they were 3 months out. After getting a couple companies to come out, I was less than pleased with the high pressure sales tactics. When a friend recommended Anctil, I called and to my surprise Mark was able to come out the same day and give me an estimate. He was extremely knowledgable, laid back and patient with all my questions and concerns with regard to noise and air flow. Mark gave me recommendations based on years of install experience. (Always speak with an installer when possible)
I committed to using Anctil and couldn't be happier. While the equipment was on back order due to COVID, Mark was in contact with me to give me updates on delivery status. Mark even came out and made sure my current A/C would make it through the last few hot days. As soon as the equipment arrived, I was immediately placed on the schedule. The day of the installation, the crew showed up early and was courteous, clean and knowledgable. Jose and Minh were mindful of our new carpet and took extra steps to make sure everything was protected. The job was scheduled for 2 days but they actually finished the same day. Minh made sure the outdoor unit install was clean and secure. Jose was great and walked me through how to operate the new thermostat and get it all linked up to the app and wifi.
I'm extremely pleased with Anctil. I would definitely use them again and have no hesitation referring them to anyone looking for HVAC work.
I hired Anctil to install and relocate a furnace in addition to removing and installing all new ductwork and gas lines in joist bays of my basement 7+ years ago in order to begin a 2 phase complete home remodel. The technicians were great to work with, clean, completed the job on time, and seemed to understand the description of the work and what needed to be done. I have since used Anctil for all routine maintenance and have referred many friends, family, and clients.
However, I began to remodel my basement to finish the remodel and found that the initial technician ran the 1" flex pipe gas line below three joist bays behind a waste pipe before he brought it up above ceiling joists. This likely saved 15 minutes in work and it was done to cut a corner. This is not what the work order/contract described (see attached picture.) I did not catch this on completion of the work. I asked Anctil to come and remedy this oversight two weeks ago. They did and it took about an hour. They charged me for this work. I did not want to pay it and called to ask for this fee to be removed. Ben in the office was unwavering and insisted I must pay this small charge because it "originally passed inspection" and "you did not initially catch the mistake." I will pay the fee. I am tired of seeing contractors cut corners time and time again. This situation could have turned out much differently.
Unfortunately I will no longer be referring business to this company and am saddened by the way this situation was handled. In my opinion, how these little issues are handled show the true nature and culture of a small business.
Anctil did a great job installing our ductless air and heat. They were timely and responsive from getting an estimate to completion of the install. They took care of all of the rebates for us and were detail oriented on the install of the mini splits. We would definitely use again on future projects
When our 24 year old AC stopped cooling right before the summer heat waves began, we were nervous about our coming few weeks. We were directed to Anctil Heating & Cooling through our appliance warranty company.
From the very beginning, Anctil were very prompt and serviced us at the earliest opportunity (within 4 business days, which is relatively quick considering all the staffing shortages in 2022). Chris was very quick in diagnosing our AC's problem and recommended parts replacements. While the parts took 3 weeks to arrive (supply chain, not of Anctil's doing), Kevin was quick to schedule Chris the very next business day, and Chris installed the new parts and fixed our AC within a couple of hours.
Two thumbs up to Anctil, especially to Chris for his expertise and Kevin for being on top of logistics. We highly recommend them!
The service is always thorough and efficient, the technicians are always adept at spotting problems quickly and providing complete solutions. One guy in particular, Andrew, took all of 2 minutes to diagnose a serious issue with our system in the middle of a heat wave and had the wiring and equipment installed in no time, really saved our butts! The only company I recommend for anything HVAC
We were very pleased with our service. Anctil scheduled our appointment in a timely manner and they were able to diagnose and fix the problem on the same visit. Our technician , Chris , did a great job, he diagnosed the problem and was able to go pick the parts and come right back and fix our A/C.
