We hired Kool Temp to install a new furnace and AC in our house in Catskill. They were professional from start to finish and were honest and didn't try to sell us or add on any unnecessary extras. I appreciate the quick responsiveness and thoroughness to my many questions. Everything was easy with them including dealing with the office staff. Highly recommend!
Kool Temp installed our very tricky HVAC system. They replaced an old furnace and added cooling and a humidifier for the winter. It was not an easy install and it took a lot of tweaking. They worked hard, fine tuned it and made sure the system was up and running perfectly. Their customer service and care for clients it top notch. Highly recommend them!
We used Kool Temp many years ago and were happy. We contracted with them in 2022 and we found they are not the same. They did not insulate the hot water lines in the basement for 5 months causing extra propane use, they left the outside basement door open when they exited letting winter air and the possibility of vermin to get into the house, they inadequately supported the supply and return pipes, they did not supply end-caps on the heat registers for 5 months, they took almost a year to supply a recirculation pump. For 5 months they did not respond.
In 2020 I had my heating system go out. I was in a low income bracket and recieved assistance from NY Dept of Social Service in the purchase of a new furnace. The total cost of the central heating furnace was covered by the state. A company called Kool Temp installed the unit. This company was chosen by DSS. During installation they installed a control panel and electrical box to a piece of 2ftx2ft plywood and then attached that to a cinder block wall with wood glue. I noticed this and I stated do to temperature change, increased humidity and ground water seepage the panel is going to fall. I was told it was fine and not to be concerned. Over the next 2 years this panel fell 5 feet to the ground 3 times causing damage to other components. Kool Temp returned many times for repairs. Each time they came they did repairs and then just glued back up the panel and never properly secured it. In Autumn of 2022 it fell an I was told by the office Manager it would be handled once and for all. Once again they came out this time securing the panel and fixing a broken components again. The Manager at that time stated the their workmanship warranty is only 1yr. but assured me there would be no charges related to the improperly installed panel; and the parts were covered by the Manufacturer warranty. He stated that further damage or issues would not be covered after these repairs. A month later I recieved a bill for labor and for multiple parts. I have repeatedly called them disputing these charges but they simply refuse to acknowledge there agreement and insist i owe them for all parts and labor. They call my house all week & send a bill weekly with additional costs added. Today they called and said pay now or we ruin your credit and will take legal action. This company is exploiting low income families and the elderly. Most appalling, they are utilizing NY DSS to exploit low income and elderly victims that have no recourse to object their charges or the knowledge to get help.
Very professional. They helped with a Navien Boiler/Combo system that was in the house we recently purchased. It was an expense we were not expecting and as for any homeowner, we were not happy about that. It was a very challenging situation that had to go through manufacturers warranty and some more trouble shooting once the unit was replaced. It was definitely not simple for them or for us as the home owner. It required multiple service calls, but I was very happy with the way they handled the situation and saw our case through until the problem was resolved. The Service Techs were professional and polite. Overall, I was satisfied with the final outcome.
Very rude employees, not on time, and what should have been a one day job took 3 days. We also believe they were smoking and drinking in our home. After they left we found beer cans with butts in them. We don't drink or smoke!!
Thank goodness for this place. My 4 year old Mitsubishi split AC wasn’t cooling properly. They were able to come out within 2 days. Matt took apart the inside unit and fixed it all up. It’s cooling like it’s brand new again. It’s been so hot , I would have paid 4x what they charged. Great work.
Bob arrived on time and inspected our 23 year old Lennox air conditioner they installed in our attic along with duct work. This was the first time we had the AC inspected in 23 years. They replaced a capacitor in 2009, which is the only problem we've had with it. He found it in reasonably good shape and recommended turning it off when cutting the grass because the coils had a lot of grass clippings in them.
Our AC has been running well, but it's 23 years old and we were wondering if it needed to be replaced. Bob didn't recommend replacing it but would have if AC was health-critical. He did warn us that replacing it would take a lot longer in the hot weather, and told us that the capacitor and fan are wear items that are replaced separately from the unit itself. He also discussed other possible repair issues and gave us broad cost estimates for them.
Bob was friendly, personable, and answered every question we asked and some we didn't. We're very happy with KoolTemp and Bob. I don't remember how we found them 23 years ago, but I'm glad we did.
These guys were super nice, honest, and down-to-earth when I put in a call to have our flue pipe replaced after being quoted over $5k by another company. Took them less than 30 minutes to replace. I will definitely be using them again for maintenance and to replace our aging system within the next year. Definitely recommend them!
