We have used Stanley Ruth for in wall air conditioners. They comply with all regulations. Sleeve change if needed. It is expensive. If you buy a air-conditioned and there is a sleeve in place that you can use I would use PC Richards instead, why they are cheaper. They have a service that promise to stand by you if you buy from them.

I had an older McQuay PTAC system that was failing and needed to be replaced. Stanley Ruth’s prices were competitive vs others (not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either) but most importantly, they had a product that others were not offering ( a modified unit that was custom wired and much quieter than any AC i have ever owned). Service was prompt, professional, and easy to schedule. Zach in the sales department was super helpful and ha great ideas that have lead to a more comfortable and quite system. Highly recommend.

Tara was absolutely the best to work with. She helped coordinate the process end to end - even helped move their schedule around to suit our urgent timeline. Every request that we had, she accommodated. I cannot say enough great things about Tara. She is a real professional and made us feel very confident in Stanley Ruth and doing our business with them in the future. Really appreciate it.

The technicians were prompt and reliable. They were also knowledgable and helped us go over all the options we could have and answered all of our questions. They were well-versed in the home system (Crestron) adaptation that we needed as well. Really great.

Stanley Ruth did a great job with installing PTACs in my apartment. They coordinated timing carefully, dealt with permitting, worked fast and efficiently, and completed the work with excellent quality.

I have used Stanley Ruth for over 30 years - when it was owned and run by the Ruths as a family business and with the current owner who runs it as a family business. It's a difficult business as the NYC DOB code gets more detailed and demanding. There are lots of moving parts, from the model selected to having a mason cut a hole in the side of the building. It's a two day installation. If you think your are going to install it between 11-12 and then go to lunch, think again. Have the housekeeper or property manager there to oversee the installation or be nice to your neighbors so they agree to sit there during the installation. Say hello, buy them a pie. I wouldn't think of using anyone else and I wouldn't think of having a window unit blocking my window. You need to decide if you are having a cover which isn't a necessity but if you are, the installer would need to know so they can adjust the unit prior to the installation and also make a collar to direct the air flow up. If you don't know what I am talking about or don't have the time to oversee this project, then buy a block of ice and fan. Stanley Ruth is highly recommended.

I met with Tahir Sloley, a Sales Director at Stanley Ruth Co, LLC at my apartment regarding the replacement of 4 AC units. I was told they would send me an estimate for the work. I asked on 3 separate occasions for the estimate. After the first inquiry, they said it had been emailed to me, and they would resend it. Not only did they not send it, but they never responded again. These guys are professional time wasters and very unprofessional air conditioning contractors. Avoid at all costs.

If you're in the market for a PTAC/HVAC unit, I strongly recommend that you go with an alternative service provider. I have had nothing but terrible experiences with Stanley Ruth. Their customer service is incompetent and rude and their PTAC units are defective.

With respect to the units themselves, Stanley Ruth installed three PTAC units in my apartment less than a year ago, and all three have had issues, either with the temperature gauge (constantly reading the wrong temperature or not sensing the temperature at all) or the heat. In addition, the Stanley Ruth representatives who installed the units failed to provide us with the proper filters and did not tell us about it (we only discovered it ourselves months later), which may have potentially damaged our units.

With respect to their customer service, I've tried to call them multiple times to get the units serviced and they often took 2-3 days to respond. When I did eventually hear back from a customer service representative (her name was Linda), she took down my information and confirmed an appointment time/date for service of the unit, but then failed to record that appointment on the service schedule. As such, I missed work to be available for an appointment that Stanley Ruth forgot to book. We booked a second appointment with Linda, who promised to call us the day of to provide a specific time when the Stanley Ruth representative would arrive. She failed to call us at the specified time and I had to call several hours later to remind her. When my wife and I raised this issue with Linda and requested a warranty extension to compensate us for the defective units and missed appointment, she hung up on us.

Given the significant amount of money that we paid for the units and the installation, I am very disappointed with both the quality of units and the customer service provided by Stanley Ruth. Once you have paid Stanley Ruth, you are of no importance to them as demonstrated by their consistently poor level of service and unwillingness to extend the their warranty despite the repeated issues with the PTAC units.

The service I recently received (December 2018) from Stanley Ruth on my air conditioning and heating unit was superlative. Under the new ownership of John Holsapple, this company has demonstrated a real commitment to customer service. I am normally not a "5 star" reviewer of anything, but Stanley Ruth deserves that rating. Thank you for the prompt and effective service and commercially reasonable approach to my issues.

I have used Stanley Ruth for over 20 years. They are professional and expert at the installation and maintenance of air conditioners. I have not had anything like the bad experiences mentioned in some of the other reviews.
