Basically a bait and switch tactic. I went with the great reviews here and had them come and give me an estimate. They did send someone to take a look and the person quoted a rate before he left and assured that they would take care of it. A few days later, I receive a quote with a much inflated price than was previously quoted by Mike when he inspected the issue. After I questioned it, they said they would come back to me after chatting amongst themselves. A few weeks later I'm still waiting after numerous excuses.
Another reviewer quoted that they do not care about the $$, but about great service. Unfortunately in my case it was nothing but $$ that they cared about.
Update - The owner contacted me and apologized for this. They did alleviate the noise issue (75% better than it was before, which I am fine with) I had with the HVAC with an alternative method rather than the original plan and did it with a 20 minute visit and no charge. I'm glad we got this resolved and appreciate the customer service.
After getting poor service from 3 prior HVAC vendors, we count ourselves fortunate in finding Tanous. Entering a heatwave, we contacted Tanous on a Friday morning; luckily, they had a cancellation and sent Johnny (?), who arrived at the beginning of the service window.
We have a pretty big house, with 4 condensers....and Alex (one of the owners) also came by to inspect what needed to be done. Turned out that we had to replace a blower motor and the control board on one of the units, among other maintenance items which required service.
We were very impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail, pricing, and service quality. They were able to get the replacement parts the same day, and stayed until 9:30 PM... on a Friday night (!), to finish the job! To replace the blown motor and control board, they had to crawl into the attic, which the temp was well above 120+ degrees...and had a positive and helpful attitude the entire time. Towards the end of the job, when they were putting on the tie-cords on new insulation padding, they even took the time to snip the excess strips of the cords for a neater look/appearance...and this was after 9 PM!
We deal with alot of home improvement vendors, and have to say Alex & Johnny, as well as the entire Tanous team, were not only informative and explained everything they were doing, but also advised us NOT to spend $$ on certain things which they explained were not necessary, and wouldn't be cost-efficient.
If I could give them 10-stars, I would...the only hesitation I have in recommending them is that they will get too busy to schedule us in next time! Other than that, do yourselves a favor and don't even consider calling anyone else for your HVAC needs!

You should not market yourselves as a 24/7 service if you will not have employees available to take a service call over the weekend. Shame because I had very high expectations from all these perfect reviews.
Mike was extremely professional and helpful. He did an excellent job repairing and replacing an existing HVAC. Chris was very helpful, responsive and professional. I highly recommend them.

They are the first company to finally get everything working in my house and to explain how things work and what I need to know to maintain the equipment. I had another (well known in Hoboken) HVAC guy come in and tell me I needed a new boiler (and give me a $15k proposal for it). Tanous came in and showed me why that made no sense and had the system delivering fantastic heat for a few hundred dollars! They basically did the same with my rooftop unit; talking me out of replacing it (which two other shops told me I needed) and repairing it instead. Since then they have added baseboard heat in a room that had no heat, repaired a broken pipe (where no other plumber could find the source of venting steam), and finally got the heat working in my basement, which no one else had been able to do. Their techs are all pleasant to have in the house, their pricing is fair and (very importantly) they come when they setup appointments, and that has included weekends and holidays.
Great job! I had this damper in my HVAC that other mechanics couldn't figure out. Tanous sent someone who had been around HVAC for like 20 years. He figured it out in 10 minutes. Now my air flow is normal!
Tanous has done outstanding work on several projects of mine. We had them put in mini split AC units throughout our condo, as well as do work on our furnace. Their quality of work is top notch, their timeliness is perfect, and they are true professionals. They quoted us less than competitors, showed up on time, got done early, and came back to address any concerns! After working with them I would not ever consider anyone else and will be using them on all work in the future.
Please know that you are in good hands when working with the team at Tanous Heating and Cooling. These guys were great from start to finish. I came home from a vacation to find one of my two furnaces had shut off. I called a different company to have a look they told me that basically my furnace was shot, and would need to get a new furnace, coil, and condenser since R22 wont be produced anymore after 2020. I had a friend refer me towards Tanous. Alex, Mike, and Kris were all great. They never tried to upsell me and were always very price conscious unlike other companies. They answered all the questions I had day and night to walk me through the process. The day of the installation the teams was professional and very courteous. They cleaned up after themselves and sent a technician the next day to check that everything was working right.
