Normally I do not write negative reviews, but my experience with Whites has been that bad.

My humidifier was not working properly (some steam, but not much) so I called Whites to send someone to troubleshoot it. The tech they sent out told me upfront, "I don't know much about these things". After spending about half an hour on the phone with Aprilaire, he told me that they said I needed to replace my humidistat. Thank goodness I knew enough to know that my humidistat was working fine, otherwise I would may have gone down a rabbithole of unnecessary repairs.

After the tech left I called Whites and politely let them know that I would not be paying for the humidifier service call because they sent over a tech who did not know anything about humidifiers. Then I called Air Controls (Which I recommend you do from the get-go); they sent a tech over who quickly diagnosed the problem (It needed 240V instead of the 120V we had plugged into it). I upgraded the voltage and my humidifier works great!

Back to Whites. I received a bill for the service call. I called them up and politely informed them again that I would not be paying the bill and why. The lady who I talked to was nice and said no problem they would get that taken care of.

Next month I got another bill. I called again, and politely let them know I would not be paying and why. Again, "no problem".

When the third bill arrived, and I called for the last time, they made me talk to someone who, if I recall, was a customer service manager. He was belligerent and insisted I pay the bill, because it was for a service call, and they DID do a service call. No matter that the tech they sent knew nothing about humidifiers and recommended unnecessary work. I was not so polite with this gentleman; at this point I was mad at the nonsense of the situation.

Well, maybe I should have been nice to the customer service guy. Whites sent the bill for $98 (plus $4 interest LOL) to a collection agency. Here's the kicker: dealing with the agency was a better experience than dealing with Whites! They were competent, reasonable and helpful, which is everything that Whites is not.

I recommend you avoid using Whites if you possibly can.

(Edit) Based on the response to this review, Whites wants to appear reasonable. They are not. If they were reasonable they would have apologized and canceled the bill when I first called. Instead they tried to push a second service call on me. For free? What a joke. Giving someone terrible, possibly fraudulent service (selling me hardware and work I don't need) and then expecting them to give you a second chance is unreasonable. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.

I contacted them when by furnace would not work on a Saturday. I was contacted in a 1/2 hour by the technician Ray and he walked me through the diagnostic process on the phone. We got it working again within 10 mins in the phone. I am so grateful for the service and insight that Ray offered.

We called White Heating and Air on Friday because our upstairs was very hot and our central air was not working. Laura was the first person I dealt with and she made my experience amazing. She walked me through what to do so that when the tech arrived things would run smoothly. Laura has the most amazing customer service skills and made the experience so great that she is why we will only be using White Heating and Air Conditioning for all of our heating and air conditioning needs. Thank you Laura you are the best.

I wanted to get a message to the owners about a great experience I had yesterday when I called for service. I have a fireplace that was having an issue, couldn't get the remote to turn off the fireplace. The receptionist who answered the phone was awesome, she patched me through to Alex and he walked me through some troubleshooting and turned out there was nothing wrong with the fireplace. So many other companies would not have taken the time to do that but would have charged a service call even for the minor issues. I commend your crew, and I hope you do to because great employees are hard to come by these days. Also noted, when I change out my furnace and A/C units in the future, you will be my preferred choice.

White Heating is probably the best company in Billings, bar none. Their customer service is off the charts! Alex went out of his way to help me get my new fireplace (that they installed) up and working. Luke did an amazing job installing my new gas fireplace. All of their employees are very professional and helpful. You can’t go wrong using White.

White has been responsive, professional and thorough from our first interaction with them. They installed a propane fireplace insert for us and did a beautiful job. The day it was scheduled to be installed, we had 2 other contractors scheduled for the same day but for different services. White was the only one of the three to show up on time and get the job done.
