My experience with this organization was one of the worst I’ve ever had with a “professional, licensed” contractor. And I am a small business owner myself, so I’ve had my share of difficult customers. I know they exist. But, I’m not one of them. (Although this is the first thing United Electrical Contractors will want to tell you.)

Though the list of dissappointments is long and detailed, to keep this short, I’ve summarized the main problems:

A. The service manager, Kevin, did not listen to my direction and failed to adequately communicate job tasks and directions to Jason, the electrician. Consequently they made many mistakes, did several things differently than I had requested, failed to complete the work on time, and failed to take responsibility for making things right that they failed to do as directed.

B. From the first time I made a complaint about the job not getting done on time, Kevin adopted the attitude that I was the kind of customer who lies, changes directions and stories, is never satisfied, takes personal frustration out on reputable companies, and manipulates situations just to get work done for free. And he made it a point to let me know this is what he thought of me, several times, and to use these accusations against me each time there was an issue between us. And there were many.

C. When I had finally had enough of the service manager constantly insisting that the electrician was telling the truth about issues and I was making things up to get more work for free, I called and asked the receptionist if I could speak to the owner, two times. I specifically told her I did not wish to talk to Kevin any longer. After each time, the owner refused to have a conversation with me or call me back, and Kevin called me back, instead. This was the culminating example of the culture of this company: That the satisfaction of customer is their last concern.

Believe me, I’m the most honest person and I know, as well as one of the biggest tippers. If something is done well, even when I’m paying the biggest bucks, I will often tip, or at least give a call to a manager to let someone know my about positive experience. This was experience was so insulting that I find it surprising this company is still in business.

Also you should know that at least one reviewers on this site actually work for the company, and there are probably more.

I've started working with United Electric for a property I manage in downtown Lansing. Out of all my vendors, they are the best! They are quick, efficient and they do it at a great price!!!

On time, fast and efficient and easy to work with. They removed five overhead fixtures in various rooms and replaced them with my new fixtures. It took only 90 minutes. They also upgraded interior plugs, replaced the fixture over the kitchen sink and installed outside lights.

Based on my above experience, I called them again a few weeks later to upgrade the electrical service, install overhead basement light fixtures and upgrade more interior plugs. Jason and Kevin were both very easy to work with, and I would definitely recommend United Electrical.

We called and then emailed detailed info about what we need to the service manager Kevin Ladisky. He simply replied with a one-liner: "I’m sorry but we are going to decline this job." We asked his reason for declining. He just ignored us. It is unfortunate that they have such a rude customer facing manager there that is obviously not fit for his job! We went ahead and gave the $8000 job to another company.

United Electrical Contractors is the only place I call when I have any electrical issues. They show up when they say they will and take care of the issue. They are professional and explain things to me on my level so I understand what the work entails. Not only do I use them but grandmother does as well and I feel very comfortable that they are doing what needs to be done for a reasonable price.

Topeka

Was quoted price over the phone and was charged 80.00 more than the initial quote. Will not be using their service again. Quoted me 95.00 if the fan box did not need replaced and 175.00 if it needed replaced. Ended up charging me 175.00 just to replace just the fan. SMH.

Called and clearly explained what I needed, electrician came out and still only diagnosed without fixing issue. Wanted the repair on the visit not estimate. Changed $140 for a GFCI outlet that did nothing.

I explained exactly what was going on , told me issues can be fixed . Was lied and charged exactly the price they told me they would fix for. Came in house wasted time . Took money for no reason and such a waste.

They came out and were very professional in doing their inspection and I had a very wonderful tech who came out but I have been waiting over a week now for a quote to move forward with my electrical renovations I'll be calling them tomorrow now that the holidays are over to see if we can move forward or if I need to contact another company...
