I noticed on Sunday that the top of my water heater was getting rusty and found it to be strange so I googled it. Turns out it was not venting properly and letting the dangerous gasses in my house. I have always installed my own but wanted a professional this time due to the problem. I called Holt on a Monday afternoon and they came out Tuesday morning. I got a quote that I felt was very fair, with zero pressure, to do the job and I was scheduled for Wednesday morning. Installers showed up at 8:30 am, on time, and put down drop cloths from my front door all the way down to the water heater. Since the new installation required a power vent, a new pipe had to be ran across the room and out the wall. By 12:30 the new water heater was running and they cleaned up everything exceptionally. You would never know that they were ever there. The guys were very polite, knowledgeable, clean cut and did a perfect job with a lot of attention to detail. I am so glad I made the call. Most professional contractor I have used in 20 years.

Don't use these people. They "fixed" a drain for us in 2019 and it still leaked a week later. They came back to fix it because it wasn't tightened enough. Now it's leaking again, after we fixed the drywall. They also "fixed" a shower valve during the same visit. That also started leaking within a year but wasn't under warranty. The total cost for all of this was $731.32. I'll be calling another company now to fix the shower drain for a third time. Please don't use this company. Their prices and warranties are outrageous. A better alternative I've found is Herr plumbing. They are less expensive and their work is much higher quality.

Justin was awesome to talk to. Straightforward and upfront about available services, etc. Didn't try to talk us in to anything, there was no pressure at all. Very impressed

Holt is always excellent to deal with. We’re long time customers and needed a sump pump replacement in a pinch and they delivered. Dave was gracious and professional and very efficient with the replacement.

We had a new full HVAC system installed in December. They returned in May to fine tune the AC system as it couldn't be done in December. The technician worked on it for 2 days and discovered that the evap coil that sits above the furnace had a manufacturing defect. The next day a technician came out and replaced the evap coil. No charge. The system was tuned up and we are ready for summer. Rob and another fellow were our techs.

My mother recently had Holt replace a garbage disposal in her Altoona residence. While I personally do not live in Des Moines, I'm somewhat appalled at the price some are willing to charge for a relatively simple repair. The repairman replaced the old disposal with a new Incinerator brand model Badger 5, one which can be purchased about anywhere in town for approximately 150 bucks. When the repair was finished, the total charge was 875.44, of which the base service call was 119.00 (I get that part) but the rest of the bill was not broken down into the cost of the machine or the labor. 699.17 for the machine and labor seems OUTRAGEOUS to me......she's in her 90's and frankly I think she was taken advantage of by a business that should know better. She will NEVER refer Holt to anyone again, and as the saying goes.....one dissatisfied customer will tell at LEAST 10 others......

To be fair, she did say the service guy was friendly and was prompt and made quick work of the repair. It's just the total cost that burns her .......

J.D. installed an outside water spigot. I called at noon and he was at the house before 2:00. Very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend Holt for any plumbing, heating, and cooling needs.
