My AC wasn't cooling so I called Power Air. First time dealing with them. Daniel discovered a refrigerant leak in the inside unit. He showed me where the leak was, it was around a valve on the coil. So he said he repaired the leak and afterwards refilled the system with refrigerant. The next day, hissing sounds were coming from the inside unit even when the AC was off. I mean off as in not on auto and it shuts down because the house cool but I set the thermostat to "off". I can clearly hear hissing as if something was escaping from the AC unit. I thought that was normal for the AC to do that because I didn't recall it doing that before the AC wasn't operating correctly. One week later, it was a Sunday, the AC wasn't cooling again. So I called them back Monday morning. Daniel told me what I already knew that there was a leak. Their solution was to do a leak test to figure out where the leak was coming from. He was thinking that the leak maybe coming from along the condenser line that runs from the outside unit to the inside unit inside the house. The condenser line runs inside the walls and ceiling of the house. The test would require installing valves on the condenser line and pressurizing the line to find the leak. To do this test, it would require making holes in the walls to get to the line. I was not comfortable with that solution so I said no. Plus, if I were to agree with that method, what would come next? I would have paid for the test but then I would also pay for whatever came after that once the test was all done. And I didn't really think there was a leak along the condenser line anyway. Therefore I called someone else. They actually found the leak and showed me exactly where it was coming from. Essentially, the evaporator coil needed to be replace. Repair was not possible in this circumstance. Since then, my AC has been working for the past 12 days now. No hissing sounds. If you are a customer, homeowner, and you hire a contractor to do some work and they pitch solutions to you as to how to resolve your problems. If you are not comfortable with those solutions, you do not have to do them even though you are obviously inexperience in the situation.
