I hate to post this because their is too much negativity in the world…but just can’t keep my mouth shut any longer. I usually do all of my own home repairs and maintenance but my wife was going through chemo and there was just too much on my/our plate for me to tackle it. MAREC came highly recommended from my boss and I figured I would be in good hands…Here’s what happened: I had already diagnosed that the issue was a dead blower motor that just needed to be replaced. Of that, I was certain. I gave them the serial number and part number to make their life easier. I had even found a compatible model online that was $297 and could’ve been delivered within the week. They chose to disregard all that information and drove out here from WH to Canton re-diagnose it themselves. Then, they found that blower motor was available in Plantsville and they drove to pick it up so they could install it same day. At that time I thought, “wow! These guys are efficient and really make it happen!!” Wellllll….they charged for all that driving around and jacked up the price of the blower motor and left me with a whopping $1,500 bill!!! I could understand billing hours to and from the shop, but to bill me for the hours to also drive to here when I had already told them the issue, they could’ve saved hourssss. Even after that I was quiet. Fast forward to today when I noticed a stain on our ceiling. I went up to see what was wrong and voila…when they replaced the motor, they didn’t put the drip tray back and after a couple years of humid days and it dripping through the attic floor and insulation, it finally made it through to the ceiling. I assume they did this on purpose, hoping that a homeowner would call them in a panic to have them come fix it. But I’m not that dumb. I just regret being too dumb to double check their work. IF THEY HAVE WORKED ON YOUR AC OR HVAC, PLEASEEEEEEE GO DOUBLE CHECK IT NOW, BEFORE YOU HAVE A HUGE MESS LIKE MINE NOW!! CALL ANYONEEEE ELSE!!!!!!!!! I hate people that post anonymous whiny complaints, so my name is Geoffrey Carlson. And I stand by my words. If MAREC is willing to offer a solution, I will happily update this review. We will see…

Stay far away from this company. I had my
furnace break down and Marec out to service it a few weeks ago. While the service technician was fine and put a used part in my furnace to get it running, I was absolutely stunned with how the main office (and management) handled it from there. I was basically robo-called daily with them trying to sell me a new part and come out and do work again. My understanding was they wanted to put a new part, and charge me again. I was uninterested in that, but they continued to harass me with daily phone calls. Today, the owner or CEO called me, Steve Cook, and left me a threatening voice mail, saying if I didn't have them out to do more work, he would be charging me $100 dollars more for the used part they put in, saying something to the effect of "it was a used rental part," which is totally insane. Please save yourself a headache and go with a reputable company with ethical business practices.

These guys are a rip off. They upcharged all the parts and service and a furnace cleaning that should have been $200 ended up costing over $1,700. On top of it they were rude and arrogant. Never use them.
