I live in Old Lyme, but I am a single mother who tries very hard to keep on top of maintenance on my house. That being said, I was mortified when I thought my boiler had seen its last days. I called based upon a reference from a family member and I honestly can say I couldn’t be more impressed. Not only was Bobby, (the repair technician), brilliant, but he was honest and truly tried to find the most affordable way to get some more time out of the boiler I have, when I am sure many companies would have simply tried to sell me a new boiler. Not only was he fast and knowledgeable, but he was kind, courteous, and made sure that everything was up to my expectations before he left. Despite the work that he did being a messy job, you would have never known he was even there. I truly am more impressed with this company and this technician than I have been of any company in a long while. I highly recommend them. I first used Douglas for routine furnace maintenance on a referral from my brother. I was impressed enough the first time their guys came out that I have had them back 2 additional times for different furnace/heating system repair issues (we have an old system). They charge fairly, have always been responsive and have performed high quality work. It's nice to finally have a GO-TO heating system company instead of having to call or ask around.

I highly recommend Douglas Mechanical Services. Mark came out for the call. He was incredibly knowledgeable and informative. He was really friendly, very courteous with our dogs, and arrived right at the appointment time.

I should have given Douglas Mechanical a 5 star review back in December after my experience. Our furnace wasn’t working. We called the HVAC company that we typically used (who most recently installed our central AC that previous summer). That company inspected, and said the best (or only) option they saw was to replace the furnace immediately (citing the furnace’s age, detailing the extensive cost just to find the issue; let alone fix it, etc.)

Douglas came right out, and after a small repair which took around one hour, the furnace was repaired and working again. He diagnosed the problem immediately.

He even said “this furnace just doesn’t seem like it’s on it’s last leg to me yet“, and he was right!

Not only does this show what an honest and fair businessman he is..
It also shows how knowledgeable he is.
You’re hard pressed to find anyone so experienced in completing repairs lately in my opinion.

Every aspect of my dealings with Douglas Mechanical Services was beyond positive. The operator/receptionist that answers the phone is also very nice and helpful. I very enthusiastically recommend this company.

When my husband and I moved we were afraid we would not be able to find a company that was as great as our old one. But Douglas Mechanical Services has been great! I have called twice due to HVAC issues and they were able to come out promptly both times which I did not expect given the time of year (early summer). The technicians we had are knowledgeable and professional and were immediately able to find the issues both times we called. We would highly recommend this company!

So my central air AC system completely shut down at the worst possible time... Middle of July during the worst heatwave we have seen in years. It was literally 92 degrees in my house and no one in my family was safe.

We called several contractors to come out and give us a quote for replacement of our compressor and condenser (over 20 years old and needed to be replaced). Half the companies wouldn’t even come out as they weren’t taking new appointments. The other half came in over price and had a lead time of 2-6 weeks to install. Unacceptable under the conditions we were experiencing.

Oliver from Douglas came out within 3 hrs of me calling to request a quote. He took the time to look over the system and make sure it couldn’t be repaired then explained what needed to be done, timeframe and cost with a detailed quote emailed inside an hour of leaving the house and guaranteed to be installed within 3 days, and was better priced than any other quote I received.

They came yesterday had the job done in half a day and stopped back twice to ensure everything works correctly. I can’t appreciate enough the urgency, efficiency, professionalism and quality of work done by a company in the same town I live in. Would absolutely recommend Douglas Mechanical to anyone who needs quality HVAC work done around town.

Used Douglas on a suggestion from a neighbor for our furnace maintenance and they were fantastic, friendly, and professional. Needed a few parts replaced during the maintenance and they had it all done in half the amount of time they quoted for just the maintenance without charging exorbitant fees for extra service or parts.
