I've had Happy Heating & Cooling come out for my annual furnace service and some minor repairs several times over the last few years after they bought my previous service company and have been lucky enough to have JD show up each time. This most recent time, I woke up to a cold house and cold air being pumped through the ducts. JD was able to come out later that day and was able to get my furnace up and running again - warm air at last! I was impressed by JD as he arrived on-time (at the beginning of the scheduled window!), called ahead to let me know he was coming, behaved professionally, and was able to get my furnace up and running again in no time! He was even kind enough on his previous maintenance visit to help me plan out some improvements and repairs to my 15-year old furnace to keep it up and running for as long as possible. While repairs on a furnace can get pricey (replacing it would be worse!), JD was always able to find ways to help me save on each repair and the maintenance plan is great for keeping my furnace running all winter, every year. I've been exceedingly happy with my service from Happy Heating & Cooling and will be a customer for many years to come!

I was in the market for a purifier/filter to clean the air in my home, and called Happy Heating & Cooling. JD recommended a unit that met all my needs. It uses ultraviolet lights to kill viruses and bacteria in the air on contact. It was installed faster than I anticipated... 2 days after my initial inquiry. Best yet: no one in my family has had a cold or flu since it has been running. They've won my business with their knowledge and professionalism! I'll be using this company for all heating and cooling needs going forward! Thanks, guys!

J.D. saved the night for us! we came home to an icy cold house in the middle of the bomb blizzard. J.D. was the only person who answered my call. Another company said someone was on their way and never sent anyone! J.D. stayed on the phone with me until I could get it fixed. Then, was promptly over the next day to make sure the fix lasted! He was amazing and I would totally recommend this company any time!

JD Vigil used to go by his name in the Heating & Cooling business. Your name/company name is your reputation, your Brand. If you're staying in the same business, I'm wondering why you would change your name? It takes time to build a reputation, good or bad, and generally not something you're going to do if you've built a good business Brand! See some of JD Vigil's google reviews under his name. Reading Reviews from both of his company names provides an expanded view of customer satisfaction.
I responded in the middle of Sept 2018 to one of his mailers that stated I had a Rebate/Credit for $100.00 left from Service Engineering. In the last 8 yrs I had never had a company by that name in my home! The mailer indicated that this was for Both Heating AND Cooling! I asked about that while he was here because I thought it was for both but I did not have the mailer in front of me. A couple of weeks later another, near identical duplicate, arrived which indicated only the Heating portion was included. He did not check the AC, even though the temps were still warm. I discovered that discrepancy after he departed and later compared it with the new mailer a couple weeks later.
When he provided the Invoice it became apparent what the "$49.00 Special" was all about. He was trying to up sell me $1574.00 worth of repairs, parts, etc that were NEEDED! But if I choose to take his "Maintenance Plan" that price would come down to $1338.00. But the Plan would cost $276.00 annually ($23.00 per month) making it go up to $1614.00! I note that other Reviewers did not seem to be impressed with his maintenance plan.
He refused when I asked for a copy of the checklist. When I reminded him that I had paid for it he was quick to inform me that no I did not! He later said he would email me a copy if I'd give him my email address, which I had previously declined to do. He did send it.
Three weeks later my furnace went out! I called another company because JD Vigil did not garner my trust for what I've already written above and several other reasons. Yes, while it's hard to think that this happened just 3 wks later, I do know that things can happen. But, as I watched the new tech working and checking things he casually said that one or two things were loose at the electronics area and tightened them. I never told him that someone had just been here recently checking the furnace out (the Happy Heating & Cooling sticker that JD insisted on was removed right after he left). Then literally a minute later he says, "I see what's wrong." The capacitor wasn't connected! He plugged it in and tightened it. Fixed. Now, the furnace worked fine before JD was here, during his visit, and after he was finished. The weather was still warm when he was here and the furnace didn't go out until either the first or, no more than, the second time the furnace turned on after he was here. I'm not saying he loosely plugged the capacitor in to create this future fail. I'm just stating what happened 3 wks later on the first or second start-up. That breakdown cost me time and a $79.00 trip charge. I hope nothing else goes out any time soon!
I would not have him nor his company back nor would I recommend them.
EDIT on 29 Oct 18 after reading JD's Response (original review 19 Oct 18):
The Fine Print on the Invoice : "Happy Heating & Cooling is a dba company under JD Vigil Heating & A/C INC."
I gave an honest assessment of his visit and I did not get into the weeds, nor did I nitpick on several other irritants in my review. His response was sophomoric, misleading and dishonest. And lastly, I find it interesting that after several poor, recent, reviews gets a surge of 5-star reviews. I stand wholeheartedly by my review!

The technician/owner J.D Vigil was incompetent and very unprofessional when he did an inspection on my home's furnace. I received many misleading and false statements advertising letters in the mail. I called Happy Heating and asked why they were reaching out to me as a customer when the company they bought my name from was terrible and almost ruined my furnace. The reply was to give them a second chance, I was reluctant and I wish I had gone with my gut feeling about Happy Heating. J.D came to my home and did very incompetent work on my furnace. He stated that he did a final check after he felt his work was complete which was a lie.He never did a final check because he left the power switch off. I woke at 4:am to a very cold house and the furnace not heating. I called the emergency number 2 times without an answer. His response to my not being able to get any help was that he turned the volume down on his phone. As it turned out, J.D. had left the power switch off on my furnace, leaving me without any heat. I was instructed by the office person to turn on the switch which I did. This did turn on the furnace, however, it ran and ran and would not shut off. i called again and was informed that J.D had LEFT JUMPERS IN MY FURNACE !! When I asked about the incompetent and unprofessional work, J. D.'s response to me 3 times was that he "wasn't in his right mind when doing work at my home" J.D was rude and very unprofessional.
The response to my review from J.D. Vigil was comical and loaded with lies. I had no idea he hurt his back. He called me several times from downstairs where my furnace is to ask questions, never saying anything about his back. He walked just fine back and forth from his truck to my home while creating an invoice loaded with inflated quotes. I never "ganged up" on him or his office. This makes me laugh. I simply wanted heat in my home and for the furnace to turn off instead of run and run. There was never anybody in the office to answer calls. The police were never mentioned. No company has ever put a lien on my home for lack of payment. He threatened me, telling me to change my review on Google to a 5 star rating and if I didn't he would sue me. My conversations with J.D after he wreaked havoc with my furnace were all on speaker with witnesses. One witness being a very reputable furnace company while his technician removed the cables J.D left in my furnace. J.D. returned my money without hesitation, admitting his work was unprofessional

My AC unit sustained hail damage. The original insurance company claim was next to nothing. I called JD to assess the damage. He got directly involved with the communication between me and the insurance adjuster. The insurance adjuster, after talking with JD, increased my settlement significantly. JD looked at the settlement and didn’t believe the insurance company was covering as much as they should. He went to bat for me again making several phone calls to the adjuster and presenting documentation stating where he believed the settlement was lacking with solid reasons to back it up. In the end my insurance settlement went up $4,700. JD spent countless hours throughout this whole process talking with me, the insurance adjuster, and preparing documentation. I could tell from the many conversations I had with JD and the conference call between me, JD and the adjuster, that JD is a professional that knows his business. I had 3 local companies prepare estimates for the work I needed done. JD gave me a competitive estimate was right in line with the rest of them. Based on the amount of time he put in to helping me get a fair settlement, I thought his estimate was more than fair. I was in a position where I needed to repair the AC and if the insurance didn’t pay, I was going to pay. JD worked to make sure my out of pocket expenses were no more than they needed to be.

Very pleased with the work JD did at my home. He was professional, knowledgeable, and provided some agreed upon follow-up in a timely manner. The tune-up was very comprehensive. And the recommendations to include associated coasts were reasonable. I'd recommend Happy Heating and Cooling without reservation.

We used the prior company and always had no issues. So we called and made an appointment to have furnace checked for winter. The day came and I took the day off work to be home. An hour before the appointment, they called and said they had to cancel! OK, well, understood things happen, so I made another appointment. Well, an hour into the time they were supposed to show up, I receive a message that they are canceling again and I would again have to reschedule! The man in the phone spoke as if my time was no big deal and I could just reschedule again. This is clearly a company that does not value you or your time as a customer! If this is how they are trying to get your business, I hate to see the kind of work they would do!!! I should have read the reviews and I would have known better than to call. It seems this company has a reputation for being rude, making excuses and blaming the client!

I got a phone call from this company informing me that they had just taken over for another company, that I had a credit on my account and I needed to call them back to let them know how I wanted to handle that. When I called back I was informed that it wasn't actually a credit but they were willing to give me a discount on a number of different services. I will NEVER use this company as they have already proven themselves dishonest and deceiving. Upon further investigation, I realize this is JD Vigil who use to operate under his own name but now hides behind the name Happy Heating and Cooling.
