AC went out on a Thursday, 117 degree day, and their first appointment was Monday. I understand AC companies are busy but at least send someone to check it out the next day. No sympathy from Air Essentials. Went with another company and a new unit was replaced the next day. Wouldn't recommend Air Essentials if it's HOT outside.
George the tech that showed up was awesome! He was really knowledgeable and professional honestly couldn’t have asked a better experience 100% would recommend! Would give more stars if I could.
After being assigned a work order from the home owners insurance company, I have a half dozen calls and voicemails into them over the last 2 days. They don't seem to answer their phone during their business hours (7-4) and don't seem to respond to voicemails either. When you've paid for insurance -and they are the provider you are assigned to - you are captive to only using them. Yet, I can't even get a hold of them. There are 2 fails here... the insurance company using an unprofessional business and the business itself failing. If you have the option to use someone else I'd recommend exploring those options.
Air Essentials was very informative and helpful to me. Our service representative, Brett Joy, was thorough in his explanations of the issues affecting my my unit and the options I had. I would highly recommend the services of Air Essentials LLC.
Negative stars if I could. My home warranty company contracted them to fix our A/C when it died; something broke causing the refrigerant/oil to leak (my family and my brother's family who were visiting all heard the loud bang and then smelled it through the house). A technician came out to look at the unit; I was working from home that day so I could meet him. After being on the roof for some time, he let me know he could not find the leak and needed to contact his boss and the home warranty to determine how much they wanted him to take it apart looking given it was an old unit and he was not sure it would be able to be repaired (given the cost of just replacing the refrigerant). I had a work call coming up, so I paid the trade call fee then and told him to do what he needed. He said he would be out front on the phone for a bit and then may go up and down from the roof some if he needed to take pictures, etc. I told him no problem. At some point while I was on my call he texted that he had found the leak and left before I ever spoke to him again. The following Monday I received a call that he reported the unit had been intentionally damaged and thus the home warranty would not be covering it. Of course, I am caught off guard and extremely mad and requested a second opinion. When the second company comes out, I go on the roof with them because I need to know what is wrong. First, when we get up there, a small piece of copper about 2 inches long is on the ground by the AC unit (it was not there the day that it broke as my brother and I went up to see what the loud bang was when it first broke and we would have seen it). Then, in about 5 minutes, the new technicians find the like because there is literally a 2-inch piece of copper pipe cut out! Again, I cannot believe this actually happened. I discuss with the new technicians about the first appointment. And they confirmed 2 facts: (1) no way someone works on this unit more than a few minutes and doesn't see this issue and (2) where this pipe was missing, the leak would not have caused oil to shoot into the ductwork how I described when everyone saw it mist and smelled it in the house (said that would have to have been from an internal leak while this was on the outside of the unit).
Therefore, I am left with the second company fairly confirming the first report to the home warranty. Understandably Old Republic would not budge after having two opinions; it is now just my (and my family's) word vs that of the first technician who went on the roof. I do have texts to show how long he was up there and how it would make no sense that he wouldn't have found the cut pipe immediately which show how suspicious this is, but nothing concrete as he was the only one on the roof (I'll never let someone work on my house without me watching).
I expected to have to fight the home warranty to cover a big repair like an AC unit (which is why I had maintenance done twice a year and kept good records of it), but I never expected someone to actually act maliciously towards me on it.
FYI, the name of the technician who came to our house was Lateef. If you are unlucky enough to have him come out, do not let him out of your sight or trust him.
Had my a/c diagnosed by a family friend prior to calling american home shield. He said there was an evap coil obstruction or my txv was causing a restriction.
Lateef came out and was the first diagnostic I received from an AHS related servicer. While he was nice and seemingly a good man he diagnosed the issue as a duct insulation or attic insulation issue.
I tried to get AHS to get me a second servicer. But after the diagnosis air essentials took a full week to give the report to AHS so I could get that second opinion (an AHS policy, theyre required to send the report not more than 2 days after the visit).
So I got the second opinion from the second AHS servicer and he diagnosed the issue as the TXV being stuck and worn out. The replacement is now in process.
Please provide more training to your team Air Essentials. A restriction was diagnosed 2 minutes after the other company came here. It was something that was unmistakable according to the other tech. As in, the high side pressures were 150 psi over the operating pressures of a typical r22 unit.
George was timely, friendly, very knowledgeable and made the necessary repairs. He made sure that we would not have the same issue in the near future. Thank you!!
I was thoroughly impressed with the service and the technician Brett Joy. He was knowledgeable, polite, caring and thorough. I will use Air Essentials from now on. Best service i have had from any company.
DO NOT USE. Poorly trained HVAC technicians. They do not know what they're doing. Was forced to use from by the home warranty company. They charged us over $200 for a $5 part that "wasn't covered". The repair was poorly done. Cost me over $1k in repairs later because of their shotty work. Avoid this company at all costs.
