For a couple years now I've been dealing with a burning smell whenever the A.C. was on, especially when used for long periods. Last summer I had another company install a new evap coil in the air handler (which they did a little wrong) and check on the smell, but they couldn't figure it out. After replacing the blower motor and various other parts myself, I was at a loss of what to do, so I went to call this previous company to check my unit again. Luckily I lost the receipt and couldn't remember the name, so I stumbled across Fresh Air Systems when googling reputable companies. Derek the owner has been incredible to talk to as he really takes the time to discuss the issue and backs their claim of being a customer oriented business. Their lead technician James has also been a huge asset in reviewing my issues and really taking the time to talk me through fixing the problem. This is by far the best company I've dealt with for any home issues and recommend anyone needing HVAC work done to contact them immediately. Too many companies talk a big game and then never back it up, but not Fresh Air Systems.

We have had so much issues with our AC since we have moved into our house from it not cooling the rooms and it being hot. And everyperson we call wants to charge a arm and a leg . Jr had came and cleaned our pipe and not only did he educate us but solved our issue. Our rooms have been cold for the first time in 2 years . we are so grateful he worked with us and helped us after all the previous failed attempts where it felt like it was just about the money. This company did not make us feel like that. They genuinely want to help. Especially in this horrible heat in Texas.

After having been a loyal customer for several years and referring tens of thousands of dollars of business to this company, I can no longer recommend Fresh Air Systems to anyone. The company caused damage to my house during a routine maintenance call, made a few futile attempts at figuring out a solution to the problem, ignored my suggestions as to how to fix the problem, and then left me holding the bag. I had to call a water damage mitigation & restoration company out to cut away the part of my house that Fresh Air Systems caused damage to, had another HVAC company competently fix the drain line that Fresh Air Systems broke, and then had the restoration company back out to restore the exterior of my house to its pre-damaged condition. I sent the company a bill for the total cost of repairs, which I successfully negotiated down to only $651, thinking they would do the right thing and at least reimburse me for the repair of the damage they caused to my property. The company ignored their customer; without so much as a call saying they refute the request. This is the customer service equivalent of a slap in the face. It's sad that you can't even trust local businesses to do the right thing anymore, it's all about their bottom line at the end of the day.

When FAS Fresh Air Systems came to install the first air handler 9/18/2019, they had asked me which unit needed replaced? I told them I am not 100% but I think it’s the back one (unit A) but call Anna FAS head of office to check. I was down in the office when I heard a loud hiss as it just dumped 12-16 lbs of R410a refrigerant in my house setting off all smoke alarms, and forcing me to take my dogs outside and opening all windows. I called Anna and reported this, and she said she would have their supervisor take care of it (James?). I let them work unattended, gave them a box fan to suck cool air from the house and into the attic. They got (Unit A) patched back together, and preceded to work on unit B.

They installed unit B and upon inspection, the whole middle of the unit, the back middle portion and where the primary drainage was leaking water into the secondary pan. They proceeded to fix this with black duct tape. I paid my invoice, and they left. I went back into the attic a little time later, and discovered trash thrown about the attic, the units that are up there are original with the house, and these parts were to an air handler. I explained to James I have cleaned up most of the trash, and James said he would have his crew come out and fix the air handler smell (unit A) and clean up the rest of the trash left. The individuals were Anthony and I do not know the name of the other individual. That night the house had a very musty smell, I had text James who works for Fresh Air systems and was told they could of knocked some dust loose and it would be taken care of tomorrow morning.

The same crew arrived and told them to take all trash that they had left, I was apologized to and told they were “very sorry” and fixed the pipes that were leaking onto the plywood and were nice enough to replace the p-trap, they were nice enough to throw the excess piping and p trap behind the air handler. I called Anna and she put me in contact with Derek (owner), We had a conversation and he would like to come out and “look” at the unit that was not set up correctly and the unit that is now leaking from the plenum box.

The second time FSA came out to install the second air handler (10/14/2019) they said they would fix the problems with the first unit. I asked them to please not leave trash in the attic this time, and was disrespected in my house the second time by the same person (installer)I was assured that the issues would be fixed and bottom line it's worse: one units secondary drain pan is not hooked up, both units are scratched all over the bottom. Wires and lines are spliced or not secured to anything. There is no regard for someones house or new items.

-Derek is knowledgeable - seems to be for customer satisfaction but have not heard from him since the first time he came out. Thus does not care, to fix issues that arise.
-James (former lead) was amazing and kept to customer satisfaction till he left.
-They show up on time

-They will not call to get right information when needed
-scratched stairs
- wont properly support units

Final verdict : DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU FULLY INSPECT
- if you do the invoice is complete and nothing will be done about anything

***UPDATE*** 11/1/2019 - City of New Braunfels failed both air handlers as neither was up to code for installation.

These guys are great. We have had 3 different service calls with them now, and each time they are very kind and explain how and why something went wrong. They have reasonable pricing and do their best to keep your bill low.

I cannot recommend them strongly enough.

This is the fourth time I have used Fresh Air Systems since I moved into my house. I have a really old system x2 and this company has always been timely in repairing my system(s). Honest, clean, on-time, and professional. This is my go to company.
