Curtis worked with me and helped me learn about our current unit and the pros and cons of upgrading our system. I was awesomely & pleasantly surprised. He was there at the exact time scheduled 9AM. He was finished in just a couple hours, when I thought if would take most of the afternoon. He even fixed stuff I didn't know could be fixed. This is one very happy customer. I work from home & I my internet service was only effected for about 15 minutes. He did the job & never interfered with my day. HUGE CUDOS!!!!!!!

The folks I interacted with were true professionals and did a good job on the emergency updates/repairs to our breaker panel and water heater. They were able to respond quickly after we had a small electrical fire.

Unfortunately, they were also professional in sales, deploying upsell and high pressure tactics, which made the experience less than ideal and left a bad taste in my mouth. Even after I got them to take $1,000 off the quote, I still paid $6,000 for a new water heater, install, and breaker refresh to our breaker panel. Which I knew was still above market rate, but they were able to do the job quickly and we needed everything back up and running with a baby at home.

I originally called Frog Heating, Air, & Electrical, but the recently merged team at Pioneer ended up doing the work. Perhaps Frog doesn't operate in this way, but that's one of the risks of merging with a company that may have different tactics.

I would use them again in an emergency, but will seek other companies when I have more time and the option to get multiple quotes.

Updated after company response: I went with the bare minimum package they presented in order to get the panel restored and a new water heater. I could have saved a few hundred by getting a cheaper water heater, but I went with the slightly nicer one and negotiated less on labor (so Rheem water heater and install was about $3000).

The breaker panel work, which wasn’t a full restore but a refresh of switches, was $3000 for parts and labor, for a few hours of work.

Again, I went with the minimum package presented, and even negotiated it down. That’s one of the tactics that I was talking about, they present a bunch of high cost options to make the low cost option feel more palatable, even when that’s marked up significantly as well.
