First I would like to thank God the Father, Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Ghost for everything because without them, nothing would work. Next, I would like to write this to say thank you to Mr. Walter from J.F Whitlow, the ladies who work in the office there, and Cinch Home Warranty Customer Service. Mr. Walter leveled the condensing unit, and helped me with the return air cleaning and pest proofing in my house even though it was not part of his regular job description. He also showed me how to take the door off the hinges and put it back on to gain access to the return air. I really appreciate his help. I also would like to give a shout out to Pastor Woolard, Woolard Mechanical, on Newtown Road in Virginia Beach, VA he can fix things that others can't at reasonable prices and he teaches HVAC certification courses and I would like to give a shout out to Edwards Mechanical on Appian Avenue in Virginia Beach.

I did NOT choose this company to replace my unit, my home warranty company did. It took two weeks from the time the unit was first evaluated for them to schedule the replacement. The office manager promised the tech would be at my house at 9am for the install. He showed up at 2:45pm. I called every hour he was late and was told "he is on his way" each time. When he finally arrived he was not able to make the replacement because the company would not send out someone to help him move unit into attic. The tech had to come back again the following day and showed up 3 hours late, again. After the install was complete we realized that he installed the unit BACKWARDS! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! The office staff misleads the customer. The tech does not read instructions for correct install of new unit.

Terrible HVAC work done and unprofessional service to match. We were without air conditioning for 2.5 months through July, August, and into September which INCLUDED OUR WEDDING WEEKEND. Marvin initially misdiagnosed the problem because when he came over to diagnose, he just stood on our porch, said there was no need to go in and my wife's description of the issues were sufficient (turns out he should've gotten lucky that way and been right, but couldn't get out of his own way). So of course they thought they got it wrong and delayed our fix further. On the day of the "fix" they missed a hugely obvious coil leak causing us to waste $400 in freon, money spent on windows units, time/discomfort/headache/days taken off from work. I explained the missed coil leak to their management, and Theresa (supervisor) said it was probably not the problem and actually a separate issue because "I'm not an HVAC tech" and therefore wrote me off (later we'd find out my hunch was correct). I explained the urgency with which they needed to fix their mistake since our house was going to be packed for our wedding and she quickly cut me off to explain her own personal problems and why they couldn't get to our issue in time. The only competent individual we dealt with was the initial girl who answered the phone because she was polite and not demeaning. The techs were nice enough, just consistently late and incapable. Theresa proved my point in highlighting the fact that I'm not a professional: Exactly! Why am I (not a tech who apparently knows nothing) the one who's catching at least 3 mistakes and finding the actual diagnosis? Why does JF Whitlow not take any responsibility for their mistakes? Glad we found Total Comfort who did the job in less than 2 months and 4 different visits. Unless you enjoy insulting customer service and paying for HVAC jobs twice, STAY AWAY.

Rudd was awesome, and very professional. He came out and assessed the problem with my plumbing right away and went above and beyond to make sure things were running properly! Outstanding service!

I wish I could give this company more than 5 stars. They all were amazing from Theresa in the office to the field technicians. Everyone worked as a team and got the job done being professional and going above and beyond to make sure our needs were met and exceeded expectations doing so . Thank you so much JF Whitlow for going above and beyond for us today . Throughout this process with the warranty company dropping the ball Theresa in the office made sure I was aware of every step , she took the time to communicate with me and keep me calm during the error on the warranty department end and I thank her so much for that … This company rocks ..

Very pleased with the responsiveness, professionalism, and service from JF Whitlow. Lee was our technician and he quickly diagnosed the problem, talked me through the solution, and effectively resolved our issue. Would recommend to others with any plumbing needs.

Great company! I had them come out on two seperate occasions, once for a clogged line and a second time for water heater installation. In both instances they were very helpful and professional getting the job done quickly and answering any questions I had. The pricing was very reasonable for the jobs preformed and I would definitely recommend them to anyone seeking a plumber.

I contacted J F Whitlow and Son’s Inc., on 4/14/2022 for a gas piping installation quote. I had just gotten two quotes’ previously for $2,883.00 and $1,645.95 and I wanted to go with the best price. I was told that they would give a better price and do a good job by a friend. The company showed up late 4/15/2022, but I didn’t mind that. Before issuing the quote, the technician asked to collect a service fee and I explained that I was never informed about any such fee. The technician then proceeded to tell me that the document in his hand stated that I was informed about the fee. I was basically being called a liar and I didn’t appreciate that so I informed him that I was recording the conversation on my RING Camera, so that he would not later say that I was irate or disrespectful towards him. The technician then walked away in a tizzy. Five minutes later I got a call from a lady at the office informing me that I was disrespectful, loud, and rude to the technician and to take my business elsewhere. She ended the call and I called back using extension 202 to connect. The same lady answered the phone and argued that I was told about the service fee by the person who took my call. She further stated that they don’t have to record calls for quality assurance because anyone with common sense would have known there would be a fee because of gas prices. She concluded by stating I could not speak with the manager and never call the business again. On Wednesday, March 30 this company came to my residence to snake the outside drain line because roots had grown into it and were interfering with the draining process----$245 for 15 minutes' worth of work. On Thursday night, the drain was overflowing and pouring into the yard AGAIN. This morning, I was told that they would return, but I would have to pay AGAIN because the work is not under warranty. Being under warranty has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THEY DID NOT DO THE JOB I PAID THEM FOR. When my parents were alive, they used this company for 30 years; NEVER AGAIN. Thanks for nothing.

Scheduled to come out between 12-5. No call, no show. Extremely disappointed and inconsiderate, especially having to take time out of my day to accommodate & coordinate. Hope your luck is better than mine, but take note. Additionally, it's interesting that there's little to no response to negative reviews regarding no call, no shows. Unprofessional. Update: Tech called 1:50 later than the scheduled time. Don't come here

DO NOT hire this company for your HVAC needs. My AC unit went out over three weeks ago and we are still having issues with the covered repair. The technician was scheduled to come out between 12-5 and didn't show up until 6:45 without any communication about being late. Then left because he claim he couldn't get authorization for the repairs because that department was closed. I had to wait another week for him to come back out to put freon in my unit and seal a leak. Then my unit stop cooling again a few days later. He was scheduled to come back out yesterday between 12-5 and guess what this time he never showed or called. I spoke with the supervisor she said it was no excuse why he didn't call or show, but he is the only tech she have working. I highly recommend not using this company especially if you are in an emergency situation needing your air fixed with the high temps we have been having!

Worst. Service. Ever. It took them over 2 months to install. Then when they put the new system in it stopped working. Two companies came out and in their words they said it was the sloppiest install they'd ever seen and that it looked like preschoolers installed it. They also said the install wouldn't pass a home inspection if we tried to sell our house.Terrible customer service too. Felt bad for install tech. He had to do it by himself whereas the new company had 2 to 3 guys installing. Zero stars if possible.

Tech Chris did not install flange correctly nor did he secure it to floor correctly on 12/9/2020. See photos attached of before & after. On 3/1 called the company and was met with unprofessionalism not only by Teresa but also the operation manager, and chris. Company refused to listen, was argumentative. You should not have to replace a flange everytime a toilet it removed or replaced. Picture proof of the before and after work showing he broke up concrete to place pvc pipe. Extremely disappointed for a company of long standing history not to atleast come out and look at the problem.

Kyle needs some mentoring. His communication skills were unprofessional. He didnt return calls or texts and when he followed up with our insurance company he told them the drain was clogged due to mis-use and so we had to pay out of pocket. Well, pretty much every single clogged drain is “mis-use”. If the drain was used absolutely perfectly every time there wouldn’t be any need for plumbers. But, every once in a while an egg shell or an orange peel gets past the drain and it builds up. Thats life... and thats why I called the plumber, to use my home warranty. Instead, after paying 900 dollars for a warranty and 55 for the house call, kyle shows up and negates my whole policy, forcing me to call Atomic plumbing, who completed the job for a reasonable price a week later. One star for the good hold music, and friendly service on the office phone. Another star for showing up on time. But other than that, pretty dissatisfied.

J.F. Whitlow was our go-to company when we lived in Suffolk. They always did right by us and we will always be thankful for it. We left in 2012 and I'm leaving this review in 2020. Thank you, J.F. Whitlow.
