Help was available encouragingly soon after call for lack of hot water, problem was solved, and following for new problem happened without extra charge. Last week, May 31, 2023, the exchanger of my high efficiency furnace was cleaned. Two days later, I turned on my shower and lathered my hair while waiting for the water to warm up enough to step in. Unfortunately, the water did not warm up. The morning after, I called the plumber proved to be a champion by making a speedy come-back to my satisfaction.

Beware Highly unethical business practices. Hired Travers to do a simple water spigot replacement as the old one was 28 years old. Had a replacement spigot waiting for the technician, but instead he opted to waste hours of billable time at a plumbing supply store "repairing" the old one. They charged nearly $500 and the 28 year old spigot failed a week later. Ended up replacing it myself with a new one in less than 45 minutes.

Not honest! I needed help repairing a leak at my home. The technician did the work while I looked on. We discussed various options and material costs. I estimated that the Symmons shower valve, new drain, and PVC pipe should cost about $200 for materials, but they charged me over $700 due to "material warranty". They took my credit card information before doing the work and when I signed off on the work I apparently was also signing off on them over charging me for materials. All I want is to pay for the materials that were used to repair my leak, even with a reasonable mark-up. I have requested a breakdown and all I got was a single line item. I would not work with them again and recommend you don't work with them either.

My furnace stopped working when the temp was -10°F. I called Travers and the answering service said they'd have the on call tech call me back. They did... 2 days later. I won't be calling them again. Go with Aquidneck Service.

On 7/21/22 they performed a septic pump for one of my properties in Portsmouth. They were quick and responsive when I called, especially when most businesses were slammed with work and it was impossible to get anyone to your house to do anything. Great local company.

It’s the gift that keeps giving. Because I could get no one else I tried using Travers several years back for an install of a Renai instant hot water tank. Horrible experience then, never received an itemized bill because I STUPIDLY paid the service guy when he was done. He wasn’t the issue, but when I called the office I could actually hear the owner laughing in the background that it’s too late, I’d paid already. I put a review on the BBB site, it “mysteriously” disappeared. Now fast-forward several years. Having a propane stove gas line installed by real professionals. ( will not name the company because I’m not familiar with liability laws.) But I was told by said company that whoever installed my gas water heater installed gas line too small and the poor heater was starving for gas. Had to pay to have them installed correctly and hoping no long term damage. Thanks Travers!! They were bad then and are bad now. No, I “aien’t” taking $$’s to write a hood review.

UNPROFESSIONAL AND WILL DISRESPECT YOUR TIME. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I called for a drain issue and scheduled a 0830-1130 appointment three weeks out. The driver did not show until 2:45 and Travers never called. They received an emergency call overnight and dispatched "my repairman" prior to 0800. They didn't call at 0830 to notify me of the change thus forcing me to waste 3hrs of work time-off to be home awaiting the repairman . I called at 11:45 and they told me they wouldn't be there until some time later in the afternoon because they were on an emergency call (billing at the higher emergency repair rate), thus discarding my three week reservation and wasting my time for more money. I then had to take four more hours off because when I called at 2:30 "my repairman" was just leaving the morning emergency job. I called the office and the rude phone receptionist told me "I needed to relax and have sympathy for people who have emergencies". This is not "an empathy issue" on my part but a "process issue" for Travers. This disingenuous company with more than one employee and branch decided to make more money that morning disrespecting a reservation contract . They choose to ignore me and will choose to ignore you. Only when I called back at 2:30 did they tell me the repairman would be there at 2:45 giving my job only 1.5 of time before the company closed. They disrespected my time, placed the blame on me, and didn't provide feedback to a waiting customer when they had a clear idea that the original timeline was not going to be met. I have a feeling that if I delayed showing up at my house for the job to be done they would have felt empowered to bill me for the time they stood around waiting. This company choose to do this. This is their modus operandi. I do not recommend anybody using them in the future.

We called them to replace two leaky shut-offs in our house. They showed up at 2:30pm, looked at shut offs, said they couldn't do that job that day because it was too big a job and we'd have to reschedule. I took time out of work to meet them and they COULD have asked for more information, photos, anything to assess the work needed, but whatever. **BUT THEN**, they inform me that I'm going to be billed $150 for a service call for them to show up and not do anything! No, I'm not making this up!! Apparently you can do absolutely no work at a customer's house and expect to be paid anyway! WOW! Update: the company responded to my BBB complaint by acknowledging that I wanted the work performed and they refused to complete it. They seem to think that taking a photo of my pipes is worth $150. Perhaps I was supposed to ask if the $150 service fee actually included them doing any work? 2nd Update: so we were able to get the job completed by an actual reputable company for $475 and they completed the job in less than 2 hours. And Traver's wanted $150 to take a photo of my pipes and leave mud on my floor.

I called, a real person answered. We made an appointment and they showed up on time. The work was done quickly and well. The bill was reasonable. Amazing how rare this all can be. I will use again for sure.

Travers H&P has provided heating oil, furnace repairs and septage pumping for my home for over 8 years. Their service has always been excellent during that time! They always respond quickly to diagnose and repair any system problem. But the best thing about Travers is that they are local and always willing to meet with you in person. It is their personal touch that makes them stand out! We are very satisfied with them.
