It was warm the other day as we all know. My system wasn't working properly. I called after hours left a message figuring I would hear back the next business day. Well nope I was wrong - I got a call back within 20 minutes offering to come the next morning first thing. I was going out of town so we held off till Monday 9am the tech (Bob) arrived I explained what was happening, he said lets go check - we turned the system on and it started blowing air. He said ok, this should be easy - I bet you are low on Freon. He put his gauges on the system, attached the freon and it took 4lbs. We went back in and he said I'll bet its blowing at 50 Degrees, I replied I'll take that bet. He was wrong. I held my thermostat up, he held his. His read 45, Mine read 48. The explanation is a simple one it was a new replacement system and sometimes, not every time, the charge although it seems enough is just plain old short. The moral is Dix Hills Air Conditioning still proves me right they are awesome to deal with.
The entire staff of Dix Hills AC was very friendly and helpful. Especially Larry the owner and his crew!. They were all professional and meticulous! Did a complete HVAC change of all units and a Larry came in with the best price out of all local companies! Highly recommend!!!
I have used Dix Hill Air Conditions a few times. I am beyond happy with my experiences with them. I used them back in 2016. My outside unit stopped working on a 90 degree day in June. They were the only company that picked up the phone and they installed a brand new outside until the next day. Which was a Saturday morning. A few weeks ago, in my new home. They installed a brand new central air system on the top floor. We had an issue within the first 30 minutes as they started cutting holes in the ceiling. Larry and his team quickly came to a resolution that me and my husband were extremely pleased with. They were here for 2 days. Every worker was polite, professional, and courteous of my home. We felt as if we were treated like family. I highly recommend them to my friends, family, and colleagues. A++
We have used Dix Hills A/C well over 30 years Larry( owner) hands on, always Professional. Willing to take the time to explain thoroughly, returns calls, addresses emergencies., work speak for themselves. His crew is efficient, respectful of property, work like a well oiled machine. Had to replace our “30” year old Unit. From start to finish flawless We are back and running. Completely satisfied.
STAY AWAY ! This company is a major RIPOFF ! Ask them to fix a leak and the tech. only looks at the evaporator and does no testing, checking, or using sniffer tools to find out where the source of the leak is ! They ASSume it is the evaporator coil if it is an R-22 system. They do not want to repair leaks, but want you to pay for a whole New system costing thousands that will never last as long as R-22 and is inferior using the R410A garbage that run at higher pressures causing more wear on components. This place is only a Sales facility. They no longer Repair to save people money like the previous owners. And to top it off, CHARGE you for assuming what is wrong, not confirming the problem and for the service call ! You pay for NOTHING ! Oh and WATCH the owner reply and say "we have no name as this in our records". LOL yeah, because I am not using my real name so you can retaliate in some way. I don't trust people that are rip-offs and dishonest. That is why you will not "see" my name. Letting you know ahead of time. To ALYSSA, COURT and LIFE - I am sorry for you all and the rest of course. This company is not the same owner family as they were in 1966 until sometime around 2000. The name is the same but not the owner's. Look at the YELP reviews too for confirmation. This company just is a revolving door of service calls, and Sales of inferior product. I am not surprised that their work is abhorrent as well. Be leery of the 5 star reviews. Those are the plugged ones.
*** Update 6/6/22**** They had a tech come look at the unit since it was short cycling. He said we needed new coils outside, we got new coils inside last year (unit is 3 years old). He said it was under warranty and will call the owner. Since we have had soooo many problem with the unit since we got it, Larry decided it was a lemon. Within a week they installed a new unit. So far no issues! Very grateful we were still under warranty! The younger tech that came to repair and told us it was the coils, was excellent. We will be requesting him from now on! Since we have received this air conditioning unit something seems to wrong with it EVERY YEAR (3 years now!) We do the annual check up/maintenance recommended, and yet still have problems.Currently sweating in my house at 80 degrees yet set at 69 with a 3 and 2 year old. An ac unit shouldn’t have an issue every year especially brand new.
Had a new system installed about 5 years ago and has not work correctly yet. Over the time, I’ve had the compressor replaced, coil, valves, blow outs, and the list goes on and on. Every single year we turn on unit for first time…..system is not working. I have a folder of service slips and they have the audacity to charge me for a system that has never worked properly. I deserve a complete new system at least. They are claiming it’s a manufacturer problem….take a close look at the picture and look inside the van. Hmmmm….that looks like a functional business. Had no other choice but to move forward using legal action. DO NOT use this company! 5/22 Start of year 6……STILL not working!
I have the pleasure of knowing Larry and Dix Hills AC for over 20 years he has done 3 homes for me. My 16 year old system literally just died and he had Pete come spend some time and found the main coil in air handler was rotted. Because it was 16 years old and the Freon no longer allowed to be serviced and no part available promptly or cost effectively The decision was made to replace the system. New air handler and condenser etc… literally 72 hours later inclusive of Saturday and Sunday his crew was at my house 9am and finished up by 3. System tested and running - blowing. 60 degree air at the vents. I understand sometimes thing don’t meet expectations and people will leave poor feedback. But I can say with total confidence and absolute faith that this company is who you want to deal with!!! Pricing is better than fair. Workers are amazingly respectful. You cannot go wrong. Thank you Larry and your team.
They installed a central Ac at my house and following year it works and stop. They came to check it twice and charged me a service charge both times stating warranty is only on the parts... So they came to the conclusion it's the fan. So they came with the fan about 2 weeks after and charge me another $1000 dollars stating I had to pay for shipping and install. Never heard to that because it's usually free shipping on warranty parts... They don't even know about new technology. I would never recommend them or use them again. Also the installation was the worst I have ever seen sloppy job
I used dix hills air conditioning to install the central air system in my home. From the first year the system was installed we have had nothing but problems. Year after year the system would be serviced until Larry the owner said the problem is the manufacturer, and not to blame him as he is just the “ middle man”. We made a plan to install new parts into the unit. They have come to my house on three separate occasions with broken parts, which I refused to let them install into the system. Larry the owner swore up and down we would work together to solve this problem and how “ were in this together” he has since hung up on me multiple times and refuses to take my calls, never once have I even raised my voice to him. The most recent call from them demanded that I sign a contract and send a deposit for work they want to do. Why am I signing a contract and leaving a deposit when you have shown up with broken parts each time he has come here? The technician and office staff have agreed the system should be removed and a new one should be put in, not an unreasonable request considering the problems with the unit and the cost putting it in. I will also be seeking legal action, but please use this as a warning. DO NOT USE DIX HILLS AIR CONDITIONING! They are dishonest, do not stand by there work and are not being run like a professional company. Larry will use the sales pitch that he has been doing this for 50+ years. He is a crook and I hope no one else chooses to do buisness with such a corrupt company
Worst service ever had in years They installed my central Ac and left a mess inside the attic... When it's time to honor the warranty they did not and over charge on part and installation... Last time I would ever use this company
We recently got the system installed and it's still a bit chilly (so we haven't fully tested the system) but the install team was on time and got the work completed in two days. Having done a little bit of work on the house I know how difficult it was to get anything done in the crawl spaces but they managed to keep it to two days regardless of that. They came in less expensive and with a central air system that other companies were recommending ductless units for. The guys cleaned up quite thoroughly after everything was done. DHAC came recommended from a friend and I would certainly recommend them to others. Thanks, Dix Hills Team! Follow-up: over a year with the system running and it's been fantastic! Best investment we've made in the house so far.
Hi, I wanted Central Air Conditioning for my house. Dix Hills AC had installed Central AC in my brother's house, and my brother loved their work and service. So I had Dix Hills AC install Central AC, ducts, attic unit in my house. They did a fantastic job and their price was very fair. They were professional, kind, and did fantastic work. My house is so cool now - even on days in the 90's. They care about you after the job as well. They just came a week ago to "summarize" and check my unit. Larry, the owner, is great and so are his workers. So if you need Central Air Conditioning, know that Dix Hills AC will do a great job where you will be very satisfied. Sincerely, John of Commack
They did not show up. No heads up no call back. No response. I get 1 day off a week and I spent it waiting for them and I didn't even get the respect of a phone call. Oh I'm sorry they called ME this morning to tell me they were definitely coming but couldn't give me a time. I called 3 times in the last 2 hours and crickets. Now I have to take my 10 month old over to my brother's house to sleep because she won't go down in the humidity. Thanks dix hills air you guys are a 1st rate operation 👍
Very Pleased with my AC install. They came with 3 vans and had it done within 4hrs. No mess either. Larry (the owner) was a pleasure to deal with.
Every HVAC company should be as honest and upfront as Dix Hills Air. Larry, the owner himself came to the house gave a free very informative consultation, gave the best price along with service to back it. They were very clean, accurate, and careful with installing a brand new central AC/Heat system. Would never use anyone else..and now the house is worth more ! It was a win win using them. When a company is in business over 50 Years, they are definitely doing it right. I noticed some negative reviews that were suspicious because it looked like they were coming from the same person. Im glad I took the time to speak to the real DIX HILLS AIR CONDITIONING out of the Huntington area, because my experience with them was stellar.
Larry is a man of his word. All promised was done, even a duct to a bathroom, that 3 other companies wouldn’t do, Larry got it done. Thank you Larry and your Great crew of Technicians. Bob S
I' ve been using Dix Hills Air for over 30 years. They have always responded on time with a fair price and I have always been satisfied with the work that has been done. I recently needed a new Outside and inside unit. Larry the owner came to my house and explained what would be best for my house set up. The visit was no pressure at all and he explained everything that would be done. The installers were very professional and respectful of my house and property. They got the job done in one day and cleaned up after themselves. Overall I got a completely new AC system at a great price.
Dix hills air conditioning provided outstanding service. I had another company come three times and not find the problem. All of the employees were kind and explained the whole process. They replaced my ac system and it is working wonderfully. From the office staff to all the technicians that worked on my home they were all amazing. I will not hesitate to recommend Dix hills air conditioning to anyone and use them for any further needs.
