They were great to work with. My elderly mother's furnace quit unexpectedly. I called and they came out the same day. The technician was very friendly and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had the necessary replacement parts with him and had the furnace running again quickly.

I initially called this company for maintenance on my AC. While here they discovered a problem that likely went back to the initial installation. Terrible service and customer service. I called to make an appointment after receiving a “reminder card” that I was due for service. I’m not going to lie, I couldn’t remember the company name from whom we had previously received service and contracted with, and took the “reminder card” to be a reminder that this was the company. When I called, I noted that I had received the reminder and was due for service under the contract. From the response I received on the phone, it seemed that the information had been verified and that I did have service through them. The service person came out, and according to my husband, tromped through our house in his muddy shoes, took a 5 minute look around in our basement (we have units in the basement and the attic), and replaced the filter (a chore I do monthly anyway). Then, he asked for payment and my husband explained that we were under a service contract. The service man said to “he’d take it up with billing” and left. I should’ve have disputed the bill that day, but was very pregnant and forgot about it until the paper bill was received a few weeks later. I should have known better and provided a written dispute of the bill, but will play the pregnancy card again. When they called to get payment, I explained that I wanted to disputed the bill, and was told very abruptly that it was going to be sent to collections. I decided it wasn’t worth fighting for the $85 and called back to pay, but I feel extremely cheated. The person could have asked why I wanted to dispute it and try to resolve it, but that’s not how they seem to do business. I have only written 1 other review on here (a 5-star one), but felt very compelled to let people know that I felt like this was a very shady way to do business. On a bright note, the company that I had actually contracted through (Ideal Heating and Cooling) called me a little after the other appointment to make their fall maintenance trip, and I couldn’t be happier with their service.

Update and reduced rating: they are Honest, provide Good Service, Best value for the price, However their back office is disorganized and they don't submit your rebate paperwork to kcpl, even despite multiple calls to them and with kcpl! This is very frustrating as it is $600 rebate that all the larger companies would have processed effectively. A week ago our heat pump was damaged and we were expecting a new born baby, in the next 1-2 days, we needed honest help fast. We called A & D Heating and Cooling to first help us diagnose the problem as they had helped us for the first time the previous winter when an outdoor hp fan burnt out in which they came and fixed it, the next day, and they were very reasonable. Tuesday they confirmed that our prior unit had been damaged by workers and gave us options for repair and replace. We were given multiple options in replacements from the closest SEER efficiency of our current unit, to better to best. They are also Preferred with KCPL and helped me get a rebate on the replacement. *****update- this was a bummer. Now I'm having to make call after call to get this completed 3 months later. After meeting with the tech WHO DOES THE WORK, not a salesmen you'll never see again. He reviewed my options: savings and advantages of each. By showing me the advantages of each he left me to decide which one fit us best. The math made my decision but first before making a big investment I just needed to get a couple competing bids. I had 2 other companies come and give us bids, before deciding on which unit and company- everyone else sent a salesmen (that was yes, extremely convincing, but their price was a ton more for the same products). I called AJ. Upon arriving they found that the original home builders had cut corners in the original install and they were going to have to do a lot more work then they thought. No one penny more- did they charge me! They had up to 3 guys, here to help and completed it all in 1 day. They w
