No AC in Florida should be illegal, if the technician gets to our home late and says “sorry we can’t do anything till it gets defrost, you will have to turn off the whole system so we can maybe come back tomorrow at the end of the day and maybe do something”, their customer service is very poor, Holly and Erica. They talk on the phone like they don’t want to work there. If you can’t do the work, they should put us first. The technician walks in and says “wooow it’s hot” and they don’t care if you need to sleep another night like this. Horrible, I don’t recommend this company to anyone that needs service ASAP. Take your money somewhere else.

I don't know where to begin. But i'll make it short and sweet....Find a different A/C Company... ..Techs misdiagnosed problem, phone rep. customer service argumentative, and service calls and prices are way out of line.....And these were the people that installed the A/C about 7 years ago. Use at your own risk...you were warned.

Worst AC company in Palm Beach County- please give them the winning award for worst AC repair service provider for 2022-2023. Company will provide bait and switch pricing tactics. Technician quoted me $300. for a repair and a three months later when they got around to the warranty work, another technican (ISSAC PENNA) now quoted $751.00 for a warranty repair after the job was completed! STAY AWAY and you will be much happier---please trust me! Miss Holly in no customer service is a witch- I would never hire her for my businesses. (She must have different colored brooms for each day she works). But guess this is all the company can afford, with its bait and switch tactics. I will continue tell all my neighbors in PBG and PBC to STAY AWAY. Hopefully they go out of business or hire competent employees. BUYER BEWARE- PREFFERED AC and Mechanical IS BAD BAD BAD. Look at the other low Google reviews. Its only getting worse. Service: HVAC system repair

I will not remove this review until this issue is resolved. Preferred air conditioning has requested tows from our company and never paid for them. When ever we ask for a check on scene, they pitch a fit and demand they send it in. They took nearly 4 months to send us a check for not even half of the amount owed to us. When we called to get this issue resolved, they simply put us to voicemail or hang up on us. They are completely unprofessional. What kind of people request services and don’t pay for them? People work hard for a living. If this is how they treat people who do services THEM, I can only imagine how they treat their customers. Beware! Also reporting to the BBB.

Called them first because they installed the unit in my new construction. The TxV failed after 15 months. They charged me $129 to diagnose, but then couldn't give me any kind of timeline when repairs would be made. I was told it could be a couple of months. Seriously, you can't go a couple of months with no A/C. My main guy got it fixed in 2 days for 1/4 the price.

Preferred is a very good company. We used them for years for new construction when we were in the home building business. They have a good service department as well. I recently used them for service and it turns our my capacitor was bad and they replaced it. The only thing I disagree with is the charge of $162 for a $20 part. C'mon guys, make a profit on the part but don't price gouge. The next day my thermostat went bad. They wanted $240 to replace it so I picked up one at Home Depot for $30 and installed in within 10 minuets and I am back to cool air.

DO not use Preferred and beware of shady busiiness practice with inexperienced tech misdiagnosing and trying to upsell and scam services and replacing parts not needed. Was charged for a $99 service call when the tech didn't know what was wrong and said he had to come back another day. I called North County cooling immediately & they were out within the hour & fixed it immediately diagnosing an obvious clogged drain.

Absolutely the WORST experience I have ever had with any service company. My new air conditioning unit has had multiple issues that required service in the first 6 months. The company doesn't stand behind their products or their service and the staff is beyond rude. They don't listen, continually cut me off in the middle of an explanation and yell at me for being upset with them I guess it's not enough to overcharge a customer for a defective product, might as well yell at them as well.. Worst of all, the owner won't even take my call and stand behind his company and staff. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

It seems this business states they work 24 hours. I called 5 times after hours and was told that someone would call me within the hour. Did not hear back so I called back a second time, was told the tech and manager would call me back in few minutes. Never heard back. Called back an additional three times and tech and manager were paged and texted with no call back.

Had appointment, nobody showed up, no call from the business to reschedule. Nothing. I called to see what is happening, office is closed. I live in a gated community, all visitors are logged (admitted or rejected) I can verify that on my phone. No one is logged at the gate.

I was having issues with my a/c, Preferred had technician Jose come out and replace a weak capacitor. I was very satisfied with his observations and diagnoses. Last company that came was not able to find the problem. Very pleased with this company from start to finish!!

First time customer. Service on same day was great. Service technician solved the problem. Could be 5 stars but, unlike most home service companies I've hired, they would not roll their $79 service visit fee into the $125 cost of the repair. $204 for less than 30 minutes of work.

Yesterday my AC died. I called Preferred Air Conditioning & Mechanical. Nicole answer the phone and scheduled someone out to diagnose. The technician came in, diagnose a faulty board and said he would have to order the part and that Nicole would call me next day. Next Nicole call to collect the $79 fee for the diagnosis. When I ask her when they can come out, she said we are not going to talk about it until you pay the $79. Needless to say I was shocked at this, and the tone of this person. When I tried to ask if she can at least give an estimate of the total repair she kept cutting me off, rude and interrupting and finally hanged up on me. I then called their main office in Palm Beach and asked to speak with the owner Donald O'Bryon who was totally ok with Nicole's rudness and did not want to even address it. Goes to show that employees behave exactly how their managers train them. They do not give a hoot about the experience of their home owners. This is not the first time that this Nicole person has been less than professional and rude, they have been servicing my home for four years and it was always a bad experience talking to her, but as this story shows, she is just reflecting what has been endorsed by the owner. This is quite prevalent behavior here in FL. To make matters worse, another company came in a discovered that the diagnosis from Preferred Air was incorrect and replaced different components that were damaged by Preferring Air such as my nest thermostat and another electric switch. The Preferred Air tech caused three times sparks and smoke to come out of the electronics part inside the AC. I can not help but think he purposely caused damage to create a bigger repair bill. Stay away from this company.

Made an appointment... the technician claimed he was at my gate and call me but the number was busy. Left me a message saying he’s on his way. He never arrives 3 hours later. I called the company, some rude rep said he called me twice and she called too and they won’t have him waiting so he left. How unprofessional is this. I called and made an appointment. If I wasn’t going to be home I would’ve canceled. Their level of professionalism was a beyond this world. Would never recommend or use them again!
