I never write reviews even when the service is not good because I feel like it might hurt their business. But I felt compelled to write this review because of how bad their service was and their attitude abut it. This is the absolutely WORST air conditioning service in Gainesville. Their idea of customer service is to be rude and yell at their customers on the phone instead of finding an amicable way of resolving an issue. They sent an inexperienced technician to my home last year who did not fix problem properly until I requested a second opinion with another technician who fixed the same problem. There is absolutely no accountability on the part of the owner, Bertie, to address this discrepancy. Avoid them like a plaque!!!

I am a caregiver. One of my clients AC went out. They came out and was very kind to my confused dementia client. They took the time to explain what they were doing. They corrinated with my boss and the family when they could get this done and gave a reasonable quote. On the day of installation it went smoothly. And they also came back when my client forgot how to use the thermostat to show her again.. Great Careing people!!

The entire process couldn’t have been better. Danny W. was very accommodating while scheduling the inspection. Danny also put together and explained the pricing options along with the value/benefits of each. Danny is why we chose Bertie - He was an excellent communicator, knowledgeable about product options, and really worked with us to find the best option for what we needed. We trust Danny to take care of any of our friends or family! Jon Jon and Carl were excellent, they removed both AC units and installed the new ones in ONE day. They answered all my questions, they were extremely courteous to our home, and a pleasure to spend the work-from-home day with them.

We had them come out and clean our AC coil because our air was smelling when we turned it on. They took 9 hours when they told us it would be done in 2-3. Then on top of that at one point I hear them SAWING into my wall without asking me. They decided to on their own install a new filter screen which we didn’t ask for and to do that they cut into the wall. But there’s more- they used what must have been the dullest saws-all ever and then fixed it with CAULK. Our wall. And it’s not their workers fault it’s the people at the top because when I called about the work we would have to do to repair the base moulding they made me pay the 1200$ and then said they’d get back to us about the damage. Now it’s months later and I haven’t heard from them on this. Then after everything- our AC smells worse than before. It smells like cleaning solution and just horrible. They send out a tech just to tell us it didn’t smell which isn’t true because anyone else walking into our house can smell. Anyway so many issues with these people, they lost our business that’s for sure. Be warned!

BEWARE! First of all, the maintenance includes EMERGENCY service. They didn't come out until 4pm the next day, when I complained that over 24 hours later isn't Emergency the GM said sometimes it's 2-3 days because they have other things already scheduled. Second of all even with the contract for 2 visits you have to pay $119 just for them to show up, even though you've already prepaid for 2 more visits. Third, then they show up and say there's nothing they can do because the owner decided not to use R22 refrigerant anymore. Which is funny, since I paid a couple hundred dollars for a pound of it just a few months earlier when they did the maintenance and said 'that's normal.' Now they say there must have been a leak because it's empty and they don't carry that anymore, so you need a new system. So 'that's normal' turned out to be not so normal and I paid $269 for two prepaid visits that I'll never get to use because of their incompetence. Buyer Beware, no refunds. btw, this is their unit, purchased and installed by them.

I had been a loyal Bertie’s customer for many years. When my AC stopped working recently, I called Bertie’s to diagnose the problem. The technician told me that there was no freon in the unit - probably a leak. He asked if I wanted him to add freon to test the unit and I said yes. What I wasn’t told was that I was going to be charged $470 for the freon alone. The unit had to be replaced. The bill for that diagnosis (no repair) was $677 for a one-man, one-hour visit. Every other HVAC person I’ve spoken to since has said this freon practice was a rip off. When I requested a quote for a replacement, I was told by Berties that the freon charge shouldn’t have taken place and he would subtract $500 from the quote, which he did. However even after that $500 credit, the quote was not competitive by 10%. I went with another company for the replacement, I have called Berties three times to have the freon charge refunded, since I was told it should not have been charged. I was told he never told me the charge was improper. Then why did he credit $500 to the quote? “We do that for our customers”. No, what they did to this customer was overcharge to check the system. I then felt I was a hostage to agree to an overpriced quote to collect the freon credit. NO! I will never use Berties again.

The capacitor in our HVAC unit went & our coolant levels were low. They came out the same day, had the capacitor in stock on the truck as well as the coolant we needed. Unfortunately our unit is from the 1980s & the coolant hasn't been made in a good number of years so it's very expensive. Over $200 a lb & we needed 3 lbs. We paid extra for after hours service as well. But we're cool as cucumbers again! Very professional, knowledgeable & friendly. It was a pleasure. If we hadn't needed coolant the fee would have been significantly less. Overall we're very pleased.

Bertie installed our Trane HVAC in ‘06. We’ve had routine maintenance done every 6 months since then by them. Only once did we need any kind of repair. The technicians are always honest and professional. Caleb and Kelvin did the maintenance this morning. They were extremely thourough, professional, respectful and efficient. I had a very large project all new duct work, new returns added, new Bryant System installed, moved Air Handler from inside my house to my garage it was a lot of work. My team members Danny and Marvin were fantastic, they were courteous, professional, clean, friendly and dang sure not afraid of hard work. I asked about future service I want to possibly add one more line to my laundry room and eventually a mini split to a Florida Room I plan to convert, when I get ready I will ask for Danny and Marvin specifically if that means I have to wait a few weeks then so be it. After buying a brand new air conditioner from this company in 2017. We have had them out here More than 10 times for the same issue. Water continues to leak into the house. At one point we were told we needed a new condensation pump. Which we bought and paid over $400 only two years after the new system was installed. Not 10 minutes after the technician left, the drain pan was again filled with water. We have saved every work ticket since 2017 from Bertie and have approximately 13 tickets and with the $100 service charge every time they come out, plus the $400 pump cost. We have paid them over $800 MORE for repairs to a new AC that THEY installed. To this day, the water is Still leaking into the house. But, we have completely given up and are out of money to keep having repairs. So. We are just dealing with the water issue. It is basically a guessing game with the technicians who don't know what is wrong with the AC unit. Previous to having this new system installed by Bertie. We had a 20 year old AC and at most had one main problem with it. You'd think a new air conditioner would have less issues
