We have been using IJ Tech for over 3 years now at our business. They’re so timely and communicative, that a bunch of our employees, including myself, have started using them for their own homes! When it comes to HVAC there is no better company in Harrisburg, PA!!

I gave them 1-star rating. Here's why: Through HomeAdvisor, I was hooked up with Jody Hoffman of IJ Tech. I'd explained in my initial inquiry to HomeAdvisor that my toilet had a running water problem, was over 20 years old, and that I wanted everything in the tank to be replaced.

For some reason, when Mr. Hoffman arrived, he seemed unaware of my request for a complete replacement. (I would have purchased a kit myself for $15-$20, except that I'm currently disabled.) Anyway, whatever singular flapper he had on hand did not work with my toilet, and he drove off to Home Depot or Lowe's to find whatever was needed.

He returned with another part that didn't fit right, and drove off again. He continued this piecemeal approach to fixing throughout the next 3 1/2 hours to 4 hours of driving to plumbing supply stores and back. When he was done, I was charged over $320 (including an excessive mark-up for cheap parts).

If my toilet worked, I would have accepted this without a murmur. After all, Mr. Hoffman seemed to be trying his best. The toilet did seem to improve, but within the next few months, I noticed that sometimes, the problem of running water returned. I phoned Jody Hoffman and asked if there was any guarantee of the work he'd done. He assured me that there was. He sent over someone else from IJ Tech, who really seemed to know what he was a doing,

Within a short time, he had diagnosed the problem. Mr. Hoffman had made the chain that connects to the toilet's flapper much too loose. The new plumber tightened it, and the problem seemed to be solved, at least for a week or two. And then, when I flushed the toilet, the water filled the bowl, but kept running because it was not filling the tank. I found that if I fiddled with it, I could get the tank to fill. But why would I pay over $320 to fiddle with the toilet tank every time I flushed?

So I called Jody Hoffman again. He didn't respond to my first call. I left a detailed message. Nor did he respond to my second call. I left another detailed message. Then I decided to fix the toilet myself since, presumably, Mr. Hoffman had done the hardest part. Taking a cue from the last plumber, I decided that this time, the chain was too tight. I gave it just a little more slack, and (fingers crossed), it's been working better but I still have to jiggle it from time to time due to the faulty 20-plus-year-old handle that should have been replaced. IJ Tech does NOT guarantee its work!

VERY unprofessional. Showed up without masks, and for some reason would not keep their masks pulled up at all times in our home. It is not a hard thing to do. In fact, it is selfish and ignorant not to during a PANDEMIC. Also tracked mud all through our apartment's carpet. Hopefully we can get it cleaned. At one point they were using a blow torch which set off our smoke detector, terrifying our cats. They could have warned us, maybe open a window, use a fan? If you value your health, prefer clean carpets, and have pets, I would advise staying far away from this company. It's unfortunate that we had no choice since our apartment's management are the ones contracting with them.

Prompt, efficient service on our commercial sewer grinder pumps. They were able to provide loaner pumps so that there was no down time while repairs were being made. Polite and helpful customer service. Will definitely use them in the future.

Andy and Jody and the guys from IJ Tech excavation division worked with me to get what I wanted and did a great job. I was very pleased with their work and I would highly recommend them. Their rates were reasonable. Definitely give them a call.

Complete professional technician. Actually tested components rather than replacing at random as previous company did, three times. IJTech fixed my issue in one day, and found faults from previous company. Technician made sure to explain WHAT they were doing and why. Would use them again, and as of now are the only company I am allowing to working on my boiler system.

When I called for service on my boiler the entire staff was friendly and helpful. They had a service tech come out at a time that was convenient for me. He was pleasant and meticulous with the job he did. I would highly recommend IJ Tech.

Just had my generator put in several weeks ago and last night it ran for almost 10 hours. No more having to worry about the sump pump and everything else. Dennis was great installing everything and explaining it to us. Thanks.

Arrived at the job sight pretty much on time as promised and did the job correctly. Did provide next day service, which is great during a heat wave. Having said that...

I don't mind paying a markup on parts, but $92.00 for a 55/5 dual electrolytic start/run capacitor (retails for $20-$25 for a Genteq brand) is a bit much. Was charged for 2.5 hours of labor but the tech was here (including a trip to pick up the aforementioned capacitor) for around 1.5 hours or so. Total of $292.00 for a capacitor replacement. Wow!!

Update: My response to the owners' response (see their response below)

First of all, thank you for responding; far too many business owners don't take the time to do so and you should be commended for doing so. I took a look at my video surveillance files and I agree with the initial arrival and final departure times of your tech. So I was correct in stating that the tech was here for approximately 1.5 hours. The travel time from and to your facility (34 minutes and 35 minutes) seems a bit excessive. Google maps says it should be 21 minutes each way but with traffic and so forth, I won't pick that nit. And the travel time to pick up the part appears to be correct. However, if you look at the overall percentage of the billed time (2.5 hours) that was actually utilized for travel (103 minutes of 150 minutes at $1.33/min) the tech's travel time wound up costing me $137.00 of the total $200.00 that was billed at $80.00/hr. At least everyone who reads this will know going in that they'll be billed accordingly.

I accept your apology for not having the part on the truck. When I called, I did say that the symptoms were indicative of run capacitor failure (neither fan motor nor compressor motor starting even though the contactor was engaging). Also, given that this failure is one of the most common failures for heat pump systems, and the fact that the 55uF/5uF dual capacitor is one of the most common values for run capacitors, it's hard to understand why this part was not on your service truck when it arrived. Also, Trane part or Genteq part, the markup is still way up there. I won't share the price for this part from Johnstone, Goodman or Trane in this forum as a courtesy, but you get my point. And your statement about "tractor and trailer" is ludicrous on its face and I won't comment further on that.

As for the offer of a discount, I'll have to think rather carefully about that. After all, $75.00 only represents 56 minutes of travel time at $1.33/minute!
