I have two HVAC units replaced along with ducting on the 2nd floor. Everyone that I dealt with was extremely professional. Owner was very knowledgeable, office manager was excellent, and the installers were very conscientious. Price was very competitive and they did a excellent job of documenting all applicable rebates. I highly recommend them and will use them in the future.

My window unit in my workshop is just not keeping up as well as it did last year. The air coming out is cool but not anywhere close to what it should be. The reason I gave two stars instead of one is they came out same day and the guys were friendly. They came out at about 4:30 on Friday. They looked at the unit, suggested the coils needed a cleaning and that may be all it needs. Okay. Since I had air compressor and pressure washer at the ready for my business it was extremely easy. Then he tells me the total: $85 service fee, $79 diagnostic fee (which consisted of looking at the unit) and cleaning fee to bring the total to $260. I still have yet to actually receive the detailed invoice.

Had this actually solved the problem I would have simply thought it was a bit expensive but at least it is working. There is no improvement and, in fact, the unit is now less efficient. I'm not too keen on being charged a large amount without being informed of the pricing beforehand. The cost of a new unit is about $800. They told me to call them if there were any more issues. Unfortunately I don't trust them to not charge me another $85 + $79 diagnostic fee plus any potential repair and the lack of a detailed invoice further damages that trust.

You can sheer a sheep many times but only skin it once. Had they told me they would charge me $100 for 5 minutes of work using my tools I would have done it myself. I would equate this experience to taking my car to a mechanic and having him say "Your tire pressure is low" then adding air and telling me it was $79 to diagnose it and $100 to add air.

If you are going to use these guys make sure they communicate the costs before doing any work.

Update: I was contacted by the technician about this review. He seemed more concerned about the fact I gave a poor review than with the fact my A/C was still not fixed or that I felt overcharged. He defended the price charged for the minimal work performed. He told me they generally don't deal with those types of units. They had the opportunity to tell me that when I stated the type of unit I have when making the appointment. The could have declined and referred to someone else. He also told me I was not the only customer to not receive an invoice because of a glitch in their system. It should be noted I paid cash so the high price combined with the lack of a receipt leads to suspicion.

I made it clear I would not spend another penny to fix the unit and would rather put any additional money toward a new unit. He said he would check with the office to see what he could do for me. That was over a week ago and I have not heard back from him and still have yet to receive an invoice. I've been provided a lot of excuses but zero solutions. At this point they would have been better off just accepting the negative review and, if the excuses are true, could have been chalked up to an unfortunate combination of circumstances. Nobody expects a company to be perfect and a few incidences can be understandable. It is how a company deals with those issues that is the real indicator of the quality of their service or lack thereof. Now I am reducing my review from two stars to one and under no circumstances will I remove it, though if they decide to make any further effort I will update.
