High quality products and service. These guys know the wisdom of getting an AC with a scroll compressor.
Also, it is not enough to get a good quality AC unit. Equally as important is the quality of the installation.
When I was researching getting a central AC unit, I found out that the higher-quality AC manufacturers will not allow shoddy installers to install their units because it reflects poorly on their product. This is because sloppy installation will result in malefunction of the AC unit.
At the time that I purchased my unit, there were three AC manufacturers who screened installers for quality and they would only let the best installers carry their products.
Main Heating & Cooling was approved to carry & install AC units that many other instsllers are not allowed to carry or install.
That's why we chose them, and we were not disappointed.
Called as furnace blower wasn't working with air conditioner. Service call was quoted as $69, when service tech came he indicated it was loose wiring and took about 30 minutes to diagnose and fix. He did give some good advice about the air conditoner and potential issues with the way the air intake was set up, although his delivery was quite terse.
Total charge was $265. I thought this was steep considering the diagnosis and time spent. I spoke with them after the call and I thought the pricing was not appropriate and asked for some consessions. They indicated that it was their flat fee rate for wiring repair and I argued that they may need to have different tiers for simple vs. complex wire repairs. I also suggested they provide an estimate of the charge after diagnosis before doing the service as the price was a surprise and I may not have used them if the price was known.
They were not interested in providing any refund so I offered providing a service credit if we would schedule them for air conditioning service in the spring. They never responded to me including an email I sent following up on the matter.
I found them to be knowledgable and capable, but very pricey in this instance. I can not therefore recommend them nor will be using them for any future services.
Had a complete HVAC replacement done by Main Heating & Cooling yesterday. The crew did a great job removing and installing and making sure the job site was cleaned up afterwards. The team was professional and informed throughout the day. Stayed late to show me the system details and walk me through setting up the new thermostat.
Always considerate and answer all questions clearly. I have been using them for over 10 years. They installed new furnace then A/C system a few years after that and last fall my water heater. Can't say enough good things about them!!!
I purchased a new Furnace and A/C unit from Goodman. Just after two years I find that the A/C unit had a leak. I called Main heating and cooling, their Shelby office to have them check it out. On the first visit the technician found the issue was a bad evaporator coil. He was going to order the part from the manufacturer and he or another technician would return no later than 12 days maximum with the new part from the manufacturer. He stated that the coil is very easy to replace in the furnace. The manufacturer had an easy access panel for it and the unit just slides in and out of the transition for easy replacement . That it would take no more then 2 hours for installation. So I paid the $465 for the visit waited for their call.
Well I had to call the company exactly one month later to get the status of my part. I spoke to the operator/dispatcher. She couldn't find the status of my call. An hour later I receive a call from her. She stated that they have the part in and that they will schedule a day for a technician to come out to install it. She gives me a quote of 328 dollars for the installation of the new coil, 4 hours installation time, warranty processing fee and freon.. I said to her that the initial technician said that it was an easy installation for a total of under $160 and as for the freon charge they were suppose to call me no later than 12 days after the initial visit, and that I had to contact them a month later. She apologized and said that they had technicians that had quit their company and a huge backlog of work. That was her reason why they hadn't contacted me. My response to her was 'This is my problem... how?" Somehow I think she expected me to understand why other customers stepped in line in front of me while I was waiting for my work to be completed by them. I had to point that out to her as well. She stated that the reason why it would take 4 hours to install the evaporator coil was that original technician said that the 'transition' from the furnace to the duct work was tricky and it would take longer to install contradicting what he said to me. I didn't understand why the technician would have said something different to me and than to her but I said that I needed this part installed, was pretty much held hostage to getting this job finished and would we would talk about this later. When the technician came out almost a week later he had the part and installed the part in less than two hours as the first technician stated. When he gave me the bill it was for $328. I said that the original technician said that it would only take 2 hours at the most and this charge was a lot more then two hours. The second technician said to me that they had to use a part specifically from the manufacturer because the transition was part of the furnace and it had to be special ordered from the manufacturer. The first technician said that they had to order the part from the company after he checked the warranty of the unit so I don't know why the second told me this, like it was 'something special' that they do.After receiving the bill for the installation the technician said that he just does what the office tells him to do and if I wanted to take it up fee for installation with them I should call his office , which I did. I spoke to the operator again and she told me a different story, again, as well as the manager, her superior could not be reached at that time and that she was the only person I could deal with on the matter. She said that for ANY installation in which a part is installed they ALWAYS charge a minimum of 4 hours. . For the price they charge per hour this fee didn't make sense because at $72 per hour for service it comes to $288 and for $75 for warranty processing fee the final bill would be $363 plus taxes. I was charged almost $800 for their service of a $1400 unit. I would be VERY SKEPTICAL in dealing with this company. It reminded me of dealing with a transmission company. Deal with them at your OWN RISK
My furnace decided to quit on the coldest day of the year, and it was Main Heating & Cooling that was able to come and save the day. They were able to come out in a prompt manner, were very professional, and explained everything thoroughly from start to finish. The entire team was impressive and have been very pleased with my new Lennox!
David came by after the installation was completed and provided an onsite tutorial of the system functions and offered a wealth of knowledge on other helpful tips on general heating & cooling.
I'm really one to write reviews much, but felt strong about deciding to go with the smaller/local shop rather than the big guys who would've likely taken advantage of the situation.
For a recharge system only rhey charge me 500 dollars. Ten minutes job.they recommended new air condition ...found different dealer he change the coil and work fine and a lot cheaper then new one ...mine was six years old .
If you go with these guys, be sure to double-check their repair estimate with a competitor. Main tried to charge us $800 for a very specific itemized bill of coolant and various parts which McQuaide fixed quickly at a cost of $0. It was basically an air bubble. Can't believe we were almost duped!
We have worked with Main in two different houses now, and we are extremely pleased. I'm a stay at home mom and I'm very comfortable when Main's guys come out. They are polite and respectful to me and also to my kids. Main has always been fair and honest with us. We will continue to use them for all of our heating and cooling needs.
