Very expensive, non-refundable pre-paid 2 hour appointment before diagnosing issue. Couldn't resolve issue, nor diagnose it, so they wanted me to schedule another very expensive 2 hour pre-paid appointment. I will seek help from a local competitor that will charge 1/3 to 1/2 the price to diagnose and won't charge until after service.

Edit to respond: I understand you were unable to complete the service on the first call, and that is not your fault. I did identify which rooftop unit is mine since then. However, I canceled the call back because I was being asked to pay nearly $1,000 BEFORE even knowing if a diagnosis (for an AC that isn't working) could even be reached due to your high up-front payment requirement. I explained this all to the next service provider and they found it laughable.

Our ductless heating/cooling system was blowing only cold air. Had a local HVAC company come out first since they were cheaper ($180 service call vs. ~$400), they said the whole unit would need to be replaced. Called Duggan on a neighbor's recommendation and Chris came out and quickly diagnosed it as a problem with the thermostat output, installed a new smart thermostat I had, and helped me understand how the whole system worked. Wish we had figured this out before we called, but would definitely use Duggan again. Not cheap but definitely pros.

If I could I would give them a zero star. I have an emergency service for HVAC machine not working during Thanksgiving weekend 2021. First they will charge you $915 for at least 4 hours of work no matter what they did, if they can diagnose or fix the issue or how long they would spend in your place. As long as they send someone to your place $915 is on its way. Second the plumber arrived at my place spent 5 MINUTES there trying to restart the HVAC machine but told me he cannot fix it because the mother board of the machine is broken. I asked him to follow the manual and do a reset based on the error code on the screen. He refused because he think he is the professional and just left my apartment after 5 minutes waiting for his easy emergency request check. The following Monday I got a quote $1400 for replacing the mother board. I called another plumber company from Thumbtack the plumber came to my unit following the manual of the machine and just reset the machine with correct steps. Everything works. He assured me that the motherboard is not broken at all just it just need a reset. After this bad experience I decided to contact E.M. Duggan and file a complain because I was deceived by a self claimed professional. The company never called me back for any communication. After half a year I got a Debt Collection Letter from the company. They refused to talk about what their plumber have done during the emergency service but just want my money. They also threat to sue me through small claim court and ruin my credit score. Anyone who reads my review, please be careful about this company. They just WANT YOUR MONEY, no matter they could provide proper service or NOT.

after using them and over paying for services for over 15 years they jack up their bills 3 times because our building is getting old and they dont want to deal with the extra work. not professional and over priced especially when something has to be fixed. do yourself a favor and look around their are other better companies

Horrible dishonest company. Came to install a nest thermostat as per my landlords request. Was not hooked up properly so heat was not working. I called for them to return and fix it. They “fixed it” and after two days my thermostat stopped working and gave me a wiring error message. I called again and had them come back to once again fix it. Which they did, and then slapped me with a $850 bill for “emergency services” which I had never authorized for their own shoddy work. Completely disgusting unprofessional behavior. Will be reporting to better business bureau and filing a claim for the charge.

Had to use them for emergency services several times over the years. Fairly quick to respond. Pricing is within the normal range. People on the phone are always helpful and friendly. Techs move quickly to resolve the problems. They are a fairly large operation, so YMMV...but for me, so far so good.

Multiple code violations that they refused to fix. Awaiting their response saying they have no record of me, which speaks to their approach of running away from clients and problems - the pattern is clear in these reviews.

These guys are my go-to plumber/HVAC vendor. From their office staff to their field technicians, they are responsive, helpful, and willing to take the time to explain things. They consistently go the extra mile, which they once again proved today (thank you Dan). If you need something done the right way, they should be your first call.

Sorry to buck the trend of these glowing reviews...we had multiple, awful experiences with Duggan and were thrilled when they left.

Poor installation of our rooftop HVAC equipment. Some units not charged or commissioned properly. One installed backwards. All led to years of problems and had to bring equipment manufacturers in to repair some problems.

The two years of "service" that came with installation was remarkably shoddy. It was like pulling teeth to have them come back on a quarterly basis as contracted. When Duggan returned, its techs rushed through service. Filters were skipped repeatedly. Over time, some of the filters collapsed and failed causing other new problems. Duggan's main office seemed to enjoy fighting over what service was contacted and not. No quarterly service visit was similar to its previous visit. We had to assign staff just to shadow Duggan techs in a effort to get more than 1/2 the contacted service done. As soon as our contract was up we found another HVAC company. That company did much better work. It took almost a year after Duggan to clean up its mess, but eventually our system was fully operational and regularly cleaned/serviced.

Looking back...it seemed like Duggan aggressively low-balled its bid to get our construction job. I am unsure if it ever expected or wanted to have us as a long-term customer. Duggan got its money from the construction and did every it could to leave asap. In retrospect it was a mistake to use them at all.
