I recently moved to a condominium in Back Bay. The previous owners left a list of service companies which included Back Bay Mechanical. I'm glad they did! I called Back Bay Mechanical to clean and repair our AC systems, both inside Air Handling Units and outside compressors. BBM was prompt in answering the phone and scheduling a service date. The technicians, Dakota and Keith, were knowledgeable, polite and efficient. They gave options for maintenance and advised on which option was best given the 10 year old age of the system. The pricing was fair; I checked it with an HVAC expert I know. They even wore booties to protect our hardwood floors! I'm happy to have found Back Bay Mechanical.

We have used Back Bay Mechanical for I think close to 20 years. I have recommended them to many people including my two daughters. Between my daughter and I, we have gotten two entire systems. Plus maintenenance and an occasional service call. They have never disappointed me.

The owner is very hands on.
Very caring.

Employees seem to be there for many years and that says a lot. I very much prefer to deal with a company and people Ike this.

Super great company. I would not use anyone else.

James and his team replaced my combination water heater and boiler in my condo in downtown Boston. Their entire process was high touch and easy. Despite their website giving the appearance of a low-tech company, the bid and estimate process, approvals, and payment were all very easy to do online. James was proactive in communicating and also very responsive to emails and phone calls. The job itself was done on schedule, on budget, and done correctly. The team took extra care to make sure the common areas in my condo building were protected and always clean. I highly recommend Back Bay Mechanical.

RUN! So many issues! They installed a unit that was too small. Came back out 6 or 7 times to fix the issue, each time with a different solution that did not work. One suggestion when the heat wouldn’t maintain was to keep the heat at 70 overnight! They did finally install a bigger unit and when it was time to turn heat on it wouldn’t work. I finally called a different co. and found out BBM never connected the thermostat to the furnace. I also have to have the ac condenser moved because they installed under stairs with not enough airflow. BBM stopped return my calls

Incompetent. Way over priced. Charge for work they don't do.
They told me a had a leak in the AC unit.
Repaired it 3 times. Didn't fix it.
Then told me I needed a new air coil at $4,000.00
Had a different company look at it.
There was no leak. Cost to fix was $400.00

Just plain awful. They can't keep our condominium complex’s heat working. There’s always some excuse why they can’t get it fixed in a timely manner. Usually they claim they are “waiting on a part” that won’t be delivered for “a few days” which often turns into weeks. Avoid at all costs.

Run the other way. They are poorly managed, don't adequately train their staff, and don't listen to their customers. After two years of trying, I had to hire another company to fix the installation problems they were unable to diagnose, much less fix.

Nickels and dimes, they'll take them all. A 2nd rate organization that struggles to meet promises made.
