I cannot recommend HFI enough. This summer we ended up having to replace our entire AC unit and furnace. We ended up switching from electric heat to gas. We had to work with the gas company to have a gas line ran. As we approached colder temperatures, still with no gasline, HFI advocated on our behalf and ensured the piping was completed in time to keep us from being too cold. Every single employee that we interacted with was wonderful, from Josh, Justin, Wes, Allen and Melissa. I won’t recommend anyone else and am super grateful that we were cared for so well. Not to mention, everyone that came to the house answered the 1000 questions asked by our young kids. Thank you guys!

Thank you to HFI for coming to our rescue! We woke up without hot water. They told us they had a cancellation and were at our home by 8:30am on a Friday. They were able to diagnose and install a hot water heater for us. Along, with that they corrected some gas lines that were leaking as noticed by us that morning. Great professional men that responded and neatly installed our new heater. What they didn't know was that we were supposed to be leaving that day for a 6 hour car ride. Their response time allowed us to continue with our plans and not have to cancel seeing family.

(The first part of this in NOT HFI). During the fist heat wave, my furnace went out. Neighbor was getting a new furnace that day. I spoke with the installers. Supervisor looked at my furnace and said it was dead (old furnace). After checking with the office he advised it would be 12 days before the could install. I called the company three days before the date. Rude guy on the phone said if I was told a certain date, it would be on that date. Great. The day before the install I called again as I did not hear from that company. Pleasant woman said nothing was scheduled. I canceled .

I called HFI. Justin came out that same day and I got new furnace the next day. Better furnace for less money!!!! HFI is awesome!!!!

I've had a very good series of interactions with HFI on a very big problem. Two trees and their roots had clogged my sewer drain, causing water to backup into my house. We had damage to our ductwork that needed repaired, and we needed to excavate and repair the sewer line. One thing that I liked about HFi was that they were able to complete this broad range of repairs. I liked dealing with one company to get all the repairs that I needed. Their technicians were thorough in their investigation as well as telling me my options. Another thing I liked was that they honored what they put in writing, and had quick communication, usually responding to my emails within in an hour and certainly within a day. Overall, I was very pleased with their work and would use them again.

We've had three jobs done by HFI. They diagnosed and fixed a furnace computer board problem. We called them because our regular HVAC company had said we needed a new furnace -- bad heat exchanger. So we wanted 3 bids. HFI thought the heat exchanger would be covered under warranty (it is, had that been the problem), but explored a different avenue, and were correct. $900 fix instead of $3000 replacement. The furnace may go another 10-15 years.

I was so impressed with Justin in residential services and the furnace tech that I was curious about their plumbing division. We had them do a tiny job -- leaky shower faucet. Again, the service was ideal, no downside.

So on replacing all of our galvanized water supply lines with PEX we went with their bid over other companies. The service was also ideal, though there was a small downside I'll get to at the end.

The installation in our crawl space was beautiful, and they did some bonuses not mentioned in the bid. For instance, Ryan saw that the builder had made the crawlspace entry difficult with how the kitchen water lines were run. He ran them along the joists, and the entry is now a breeze, no head banging. He put a special pressure adjustment system on the water main where it comes in, and then checked several times with us during the two-day installation to see how each tap in the house was doing pressure-wise. He replaced a valve on the water heater with one that is stronger/better.

The downside on that job was in the removal of the galvanized pipe. They evidently dragged it along the vapor barrier/radon barrier on the floor, ripping it a number of times, instead of setting those pipes on cardboard or plastic to move them across the floor. I liked how Justin handled that problem when I brought it up.

Still, we felt like on the big job we got a number of advantages by using HFI. They are now our go-to for both HVAC and plumbing in the Bloomington area, and I like that my wife can just call HFI when I'm out of town, for the things most likely to go wrong, small or big.

The company is very friendly, trustworthy, and smart. I was a building manager for a number of years, and wish I'd used HFI there. They bring old school dependability and attitudes, but seem to me to be the most up-to-date and knowledgeable in terms of heat pumps, electric water heater, and all the new developments of the last twenty years. All of their people are union trained. The three guys who've been to our house are really into their work.

It is really a treat to hear Justin Ferguson discuss home systems, and I suggest to homeowners you always bring him in as one of your bidders on a new system or major system update. He will be very good at looking at the cost of installation, sizing a system, and the operating costs over time of a given system. As a homeowner you want to hit right on all three of those. He's dedicated to the same idea as I am -- that the customer should never have a wish at the end of a job. "I wish they had..." or "I wish they hadn't...."
