Kraig is fantastic!!! It is very hard to spend the amount of money it takes to put in a brand new furnace and A/C. However...if it has to be done, what a relief to have someone like Modern Day Comfort. We have used Kraig for years so we knew that his price would be fair and the installation would be beyond reliable. We also knew from past experiences that Kraig would never recommend something that was needed. When he told us we should replace both units, there was no hesitation. We trust his opinion,his prices and his service.

Kraig, his wife and the rest of the staff at Modern Day Comfort are the best! I have been a customer for the last two years when I bought my townhouse. They've done regular maintenance at very fair and reasonable prices and I have been happy with their service. My 36 year old AC unit died today and he and his team were able to install same day and saved my sizzling bacon. It was over 90 degrees today! I have a late night of work at home and now I can do so in comfort! Thank you MDC. Excellent service again and couldn't be happier you're my HVAC service provider.

Craig and his wife get 5 stars from me! Efficient, knowledgeable...fast and outstanding customer service. Kraig came to my house at 9:00pm on a Sunday night and immediately fixed the problem. The best part...he truly cared. Highly recommend!

Although I did not get service work done from Kraig because his office was too far from my residence, he took the time out of his day to send me over an email as too what to look for in quality work. He even went as far as reviewing competitor quotes with me for services. He is an honest stand up guy, something very hard to find in contractor work. Thank you Kraig!

Kraig rocks! He is among the top 1% of contractors who have done work on any of my homes over the past 30 years. He's come over when our heat went out late at night without being asked. He's honest and shows up on time for his regularly-scheduled maintenance. He's also incredibly intelligent (he found a mistake by the company that installed our home automation thermostats). I can't say enough good things about him.

Kraig was great to work with and very knowledgeable about his craft. He installed a humidifier on a furnace and had some great ideas about a heat pump in the future. Would highly recommend Kraig and Modern Day Comfort.

I highly recommend Modern Day Comfort. Several days ago, the furnace went out at a rental property I own in Palatine, IL. Due to the urgency to get the heat back on for my tenants, I scheduled a service call with Four Seasons. They diagnosed the issue as a bad gas valve and wanted to charge over $800.00 for that part alone. In addition, the technician indicated that the collector box had a small crack and would be another $500.00. But what they really wanted was to sell me a new furnace to the tune of over $7,000.00!! It felt like a punch in the gut, and I knew I was being ripped off. That's when I contacted Kraig Kane, the owner of Modern Day Comfort. Despite an already busy day, Kraig made time to come out that afternoon. He agreed that the gas valve needed replacement, and suggested a different approach to repair the collector box. His quote was about ONE THIRD of the Four Seasons estimate. Moreover, Kraig said there was no reason to replace the furnace, but even if it would have been necessary that it could be done for $3,000.00. He installed the new gas valve and had the furnace working that day. Unfortunately, when the unit fired up, Kraig noticed some flame rollout, which indicated a further issue with the heat exchanger. For safety reasons, he had to shut the furnace down for the night. The next day, Kraig reached out to the manufacturer and confirmed that the heat exchanger was still under warranty. He went out of his way to pick up the replacement parts, and worked until around 7:00 that evening to get the furnace running again. When Kraig pulled the old heat exchanger out, he quickly found a hole in one of the pipes which confirmed his diagnosis. At the end of the day, Kraig's invoice for parts and labor was still only HALF of what Four Seasons quoted just for the initial work. I am absolutely certain that there is no way Four Seasons would have researched the warranty on the heat exchanger or even taken on that repair. Instead, they would have pushed me to buy a new furnace at more than double the price of what a unit should cost for a small ranch home. Thanks to Kraig's knowledge, expertise, and exceptional customer care, I now have a working furnace that will likely last another 10+ years. Kraig is definitely the type of person I want to do business with. He now has another satisfied customer for life! Thank you for going the extra mile, my friend.

I had Rich out to do some annual furnace maintenance as the previous contractors I hired to do this left me less than impressed. Not only are the prices reasonable but scheduling and points of contact were easy and friendly. Rich was super friendly and conscious of our home (wearing booties, cleaning up any messes, dodging our little kids toys :), he even answered all my dumb questions and in a way so that even I could understand. I've found my new Heating and Cooling contractors and will absolutely recommend them to everyone.
