We recently had Idyllwild Heating replace our 30+ year old Regency fireplace insert with a new Kuma Cascade fireplace insert. It is amazing how much more heat is generated and how efficient this wood burner is. Once it is going there is hardly any visible smoke coming out of the chimney. Once they have the products in stock and available, Idyllwild Heating can always be trusted to be on time, clean, courteous, professional and will get the job done right. I was out of town for work and Kevin even made me a video to demonstrate how to operate the new stove. If you need quality products, professional service, and want to be sure your products are installed and will operate correctly, contact Steve or Kevin at Idyllwild Heating.

Our stove heating system wouldn't shut off and when I called for help Onay (not sure of the spelling) explained everything thoroughly and told me how to resolve the issue myself, as the techs are booked out so far in advance. She talked with me for nearly 15 minutes, educated me about the unit, and was super-friendly and helpful. I'll definitely use this company as soon as their schedule permits. Wow!

Tried to get them to come out to fix or replace a broken furnace. Steve said he'd check schedule and get back to me. While waiting over a week, I just signed a contract with another company. Being local isn't enough of a qualification. Why not simply say you're too busy? Would be more respectful/ professional.

When my insurance provider demanded that I have my wood stove inspected by professionals, I called upon Idyllwild Heating & Cooling. Steve was able to go to my property even when I wasn't there, and enter to take a look at my stove. He filled out all of the paperwork and sent it back to me quickly so I could satisfy my insurance provider's silly request. Not sure what insurance will demand next, but if it is related to my heater or stove, I'll call Idyllwild Heating & Cooling again. Thanks!

Our heating recently went out. Kevin came by and gave me the bad news that the furnace needed to be replaced. He explained in detail why it had failed and took videos of the furnace to show me the multiple problems (the heat condenser had rusted through and flames were shooting where they should not be, leading to a system shut down). Kevin gave me a proposal later that day for an Amana furnace. I went on the internet and it had good reviews but I also kept reading on different sites that a proper installation was key to a proper functioning furnace and to ensure that the furnace would last its expected life. I spoke with Kevin for quite some time about the furnace, the installation, and adding a humidifier that actually worked (we had two in the past from other vendors and both had failed). Kevin also proposed an upgraded air filter system as we have experienced a lot of dust in the house. I cannot recommend Kevin and this company enough. Kevin and his father Steve really know what they are talking about and have been in business for years. The installation was done correctly and professionally, and Kevin fixed some of the improper ducting, etc. that had been installed previously by other vendors. We wanted to pay for this to be done once correctly and hiring this company achieved that goal. We are very satisfied.

It is our extreme pleasure to recommend Idyllwild Heating & Cooling. We had a problem with an addition to our home that involved another heating and air conditioning company. It was a complicated mess involving miscommunication between the company and the contractor. Long story short, we paid for an air conditioner that was never installed. Facing possible litigation and additional expense, our contractor suggested we contact Idyllwild Heating & Cooling to see if they could help us. Steve was amazing! He came to our home immediately, assessed the situation, and offered us an affordable and efficient solution. Within a matter of days, our new air conditioner was ordered and installed! We couldn't be happier with the results. Steve, Kevin, and the team were so professional and kind. They understood our frustration and found a solution. WE LOVE OUR NEW AIR CONDITIONER. Idyllwild Heating & Cooling is the best! They know their products; they deliver on their promises; they are professional; and they are so nice! Don't go anywhere else.

I am a retired mechanical engineer and facilities manager. When I decided to install cooling in my Pine Cove home, I contacted Steve at Idyllwild Heating and Cooling. He helped me to determine the best solution for cooling (as opposed to the wrong approach I had in mind!) and provided me all of the technical inputs and information I needed to make the right choice.

Throughout the project Steve and all of his staff demonstrated technical expertise, open and frequent communications and excellent coordination with other ongoing construction. The installation crew knocked a very challenging installation on our two-story home in about a day and a half. The sheet metal cover fabricated and fitted over the refrigerant lines was expertly done. Installers were very careful inside the home, using drop cloths on the carpets and cleaning up with a vacuum after each phase.

Idyllwild Heating & Cooling is the caliber of contractor I often wish I had on projects during my working career. I don't see any sense in using a contractor from "off the hill" unless the scope of the project is so enormous that it's being run by a major commercial contractor. Even then, Steve and his crew would probably be capable of doing a great job.

Idyllwild Heating and Air did such a great job on our min-split air conditioning install! Totally professional company and fair and honest pricing. I think that their multi-generation experience and knowledge make them the best choice compared to other companies in the area. They also have a beautiful showroom right in downtown Idyllwild. My wife and I own a Five Star vacation rental called “The Ranch on Strawberry Creek” that rents to groups up to 18 people, so we like to do everything top notch. Idyllwild Heating & Air was a perfect match for our need for quality and good pricing. Steve and Kevin are great people to work with too! - Jeff & Bev

We had the pleasure of shopping at the Idyllwild Heating shop several times, and always had a great experience. We would not buy our Yeti or fireside products anywhere else. Oinee is easily the most helpful and amiable secretary we have ever encountered.
When we more recently bought a house in Idyllwild, we were fortunate that the superb fireplace and excellent heating and a/c systems had been installed by Idyllwild Heating too. Steve personally reviewed the systems and gave good maintenance advice. When after a few months we had a minor maintenance issue, service calls were very prompt, and specialist parts were ordered and installed within days. Everything was left even tidier than before the work was started! Mike and Kevin could not have done a better job.
This is the best experience we have had with any business in the entire Idyllwild region, and we cannot recommend Idyllwild Heating and Cooling highly enough.

It is with great regret that I am writing a negative review of a local small business. In September 2017 I contacted Steve at Idyllwind Heating and Cooling and asked him to come to my home and quote the insulation of a wood stove. He appeared on a Saturday morning as promised and looked at the job, a simple connect and then stove pipe though a ceiling and installation of the pipe on the roof. He informed me that my stove was not EPA approved so he did not want to connect it, but that he sold all the parts necessary to to the job. I asked if he would consider just doing the box/collar through the ceiling and pipe on the roof, because I wanted a professional to do the flashing so that it didn't leak and was installed correctly. He agreed to do the job and gave me a price for both parts and labor. He explained that he was busy that week and would try to get to it in the "next few weeks". On October 10th I called and spoke with Steve again and I asked when he would be doing the job. He state that he was still busy, "but soon". On October 13th I emailed him and ask for an invoice to prepay. I received no reply. On October October 31 I again emailed Steve and asked when he would be doing the job. On November 7th I personally spoke with Steve who said he
"had a customer change her mind on a big job that put us behind" but that he would do my job this week or early next week at the latest". He did not show up. On November 9th I spoke with Steve by telephone again and I asked him when he would do my job, at this point his statements became vague such as "Oh I know it's important" and ""It's on my schedule" but he refused to either tell me that he couldn't do the job, or tell me when he would be there. On November 20th I spoke with Steve again who stated that he could not do the job this week because "it's Thanksgiving" but that he would get to it next week. Today on November 27th I called and spoke to Steve and asked what day I could expect him to come do the job. His response was "I'm going to just take a deep breath" Due to the two month delay, I finally asked him directly, whether he was going to do the job. His reply was "I'm done with all of this......" and he hung the phone up on me.
I want local small business' to succeed. But when a business cannot be honest with customers, or show up to do work which they have promised, or treat people with decent courtesy, then they don't deserve success. I'm sure as the only local HVAC serviceman in the area that Steve will always have work, and maybe his work is great, I just wouldn't know because he never showed up to do the job he promised at my home. It was a terrible experience. Buyer beware. I'm sure Steve will have a different recollection of our conversations and/or more exscuses, however after the first time he didn't appear, I started to keeping detailed notes and I am confident in the accuracy of my times, dates and representations.
