Not only did this company ignore us by not answering their phones, but Fidelity Life Home Warranty wanted us to repay the $75 fee for the technician returning, The technician (Joe), cut the incorrect line letting all of the Freon out of our AC. I also requested he trace the line because there was some water damage in our son’s room. This did not happen resulting in the garage and the bedroom having even more water damage than previously. He claimed that he would return with another pound of Freon to place into our AC, which also did not happen. We have two huskies and the house has been as hot as 95 degrees everyday. This is not an emergency though. It has been 18 days since we have had a working AC.

I want to say upfront that ANY review that talks about this company with regards to. Home Warranty Service Request it is NOT this company. A simple search of the Home Service contractor and phone number will show you that. The names are nearly identical but it is NOT this company. I, too, had a non working HVAC and First American provided RAA Group dba (doing business as) Lone Star Mechanical. Joe is Lone Star Mechanical CONTRACTOR and is not a DBA. So that's right off the bat for all these bad reviews impacting a great, local, family owned small business. Also, the DBA company has Amanda who entertains all the service calls, Joe handles his own and doesn't have an office secretary.

All that being said, I too got ZERO response from LS Mechnical and Google it to see if I got a different number and I did so I called it. I got Joe. He told me upfront it was the wrong company, he does not work with any Home Warranty and it would be a 150 service call for him to come out. I decided I would rather have him than LS Mehancial who can't even return a call. When I tell you, this great guy Joe, came to my home on his Saturday at 8am...he diagnosed my AC and gave me a full explanation as to how it all works and to educate me on my system. Long story short, two times my warranty company failed me and both times Joe and his team came to my home within 24 hours and fixed it. And Joe still to this day entertains all my texts with questions and concerns. Fantastic company. I sure wish people would do some research before hurting a great company's 30 year reputation. Couldn't say enough great things about them.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this contractor. They happened to be the contractor for American Home Shield Home Warranty, who I also would not recommend, and were sent out to my home when I scheduled a service request on Sunday. The contractor called and scheduled my appointment for the following Tuesday around 10:30 am. I was called at 3:00 pm, on Tuesday, by the contractor and told that the technician should be arriving within 30 to 40 minutes. The technician didn't arrive until 5. Once the technician completed the diagnosis, he told my wife that he would be back the next day in the am. I gave him until 12 noon and then called the contractor. She said that they need authorization to do the work and had yet to send in the request, since the technician hadn't given her the diagnosis or the required AC unit information. Three hours later when I called back, I was told that they still hadn't heard from the technician. Keep in mind that this is Wednesday late in the afternoon, and the contractor basically told me that they wouldn't be out to complete the job today, and couldn't schedule me until Friday because of all the calls that the American Home Warranty sends them weekly and the fact that they only have 3 technicians working. All the while, enduring 105 degree + weather. Now they tell me that they cannot work on my AC because it is dirty, and they'd have to charge me $189 to clean it before they work on it. The unit is a little dusty and has some light rust scale around the condenser lines, which is common on older units. I wouldn't recommend this contractor or home warranty provider to anyone, ever. Just another example of a contractor trying to squeeze people for more money than what is reasonable. Lining your pockets at the expense of others, especially during these economically trying times is absolutely despicable.

Joe Jr. from Lone Star Mechanical responded to my call promptly, was willing to provide me with a reasonable/honest price (including the service call), and resolved the problem that I was having with my heater that same day!

Plus, he checked for any carbon monoxide leaks after running the unit!

Thank you!

Complaint Description:
A 4ton hvac system with a cheaper inadequate 3 ton model without permission. Damaged home an refuse to pay for repair or correct system. Date was Aug 5 2020, system was not cooling well. AHS send tech out who claimed I needed a whole new system. Previous model number N4A348AKB200 Tempstar (4ton)replaced with a Lennox model number ML14 XC1S036-230C08 (3ton). Sept 18 At the time the repair man said it was the same if not better system . It will not cool adequately and it took a home inspector to explain what they did. He failed to inform me it was a whole ton short of an adequate system for my home sq footage ( 3 ton max is I have called AHS the day it happened. And five times since. They refuse to escalate call to manager . I have also reached out to Lonestar Mechanical who refused to show movement or respond with any action. Also, this as made my home no longer energy star efficiency rated.

Your Desired Resolution:
The damage to home was repaired and invoice mailed to company. I would like damage reimbursed and system replaced with one that has proper tonnage for a 1925 sqft home. El Paso is red zone one in picture provided.

This case will be reviewed by a complaint specialist at the Better Business Bureau, and then forwarded to the business for their response. It is our policy to allow the business 30 working days to respond to your compliant.
