They installed my unit during new construction. The year warranty was supposed to coincide with the contractors warranty. However, instead of being upfront and honest. Especially considering that I mentioned the warranty for the service call (in which there are several month left on it). They sent a Tech out then tried to charge me. I personally would choose an upfront and honest company to do business with next time.
I wouldn't recommend. Green installed my new in my new build a couple of years ago and I had them out here a couple of times during the first year before my warranty expired and still not happy with the work. I finally gave up because I mentioned to them at first that I felt they under sized the unit for the square footage of the house. Now I am not an HVAC tech nor have I ever worked in HVAC field but I have spoken with people who know who have informed me that it was undersized. But after a year I knew there was nothing else they could really do then replace unit i just finally gave up since I knew that wouldn't happen. I still have a couple of rooms that don't cool or heat as I feel they should. They did add an additional vent in one room and it may have helped a little but I have had enough time to determine that it still isn't correct. The work itself looks good but my warning is to make sure that you verify the size they install is the size you need for your square footage.
Our air conditioning unit went out around 4pm yesterday. We called and placed an emergency request because we have a newborn and temperatures have been high. The technician called me a little before 8pm and said that he could come out “but” it will be a $150 labor charge for coming after hours and his van has limited parts so he couldn’t even guarantee he could fix it. The fee was not at all the concern because I will pay whatever is needed for my child to sleep comfortably. The concern was that the technician was trying to convince us to wait until next day and reiterating he probably couldn’t fix it that night and would have to come back next day anyway. I obliged because we were able to create a comfortable temperature for our child on our own to make it through the night. The technician assured me to call first thing and and they would get us in today. I called first thing and the lady said she would dig in to our location and unit and give me a call right back. When she called back, well aware that we have a newborn, she said she could get us in by June 14th. Two weeks!!! I’m sure she found that our unit was warrantied and placed us on an unimportant list. How is it a technician can come out in the middle of the night, but I have to wait 2 weeks for dayside support. I proceeded to say “if I call this evening and place an emergency request again, will someone come..?” And she seemed “unsure”. I called JL Heating and Air and they were out and fixed the problem quickly within 3hrs of speaking with them. Poor poor quality of service in every aspect.
Green Heating & Cooling installed system failed after one cooling season in my new home! Poor workmanship from this company (they did whole neighborhood) & my experience seems to be in line with other homeowners vs that of the builders that contract out to Green. Moved into my Reliant Homes built home end of Dec 2017 (Anderson, SC) ... and ran the first season of cooling from Apr-Sep 2018 (7 mos). It has a separate gas furnace for heat. 1st week of Apr 2019 was hot (4 mos past warranty) & switched to cooling for the 2nd time. Noticed the downstairs unit was not cooling like the upstairs and verified that the outdoor unit wasn’t kicking on w/the T-stat A basic check w/a meter showed the Low Pressure switch tripped and the system was likely low or out of refrigerant. I needed to get a Tech out for a proper look. Called Green’s office and like other homeowner reviews just past the warranty it was suggested that I call someone else since they had a lot of new construction/warranties to support and it would be 2-3 weeks before they could get a tech out, let alone get back to fix it. I called around and got a local company, C & L Services to come out 2 days later for an initial diagnostic call. They confirmed ALL THE REFRIGERANT leaked out of the system and would need to come back to find the leak. In the meantime I contacted my builder since the system had likely been leaking since the install to see if they had some leeway with getting Green to work with me in good faith on such a new system. The response relayed to me was that parts were covered but not labor/freon (which is the same with any company I’d use). I also called Green directly and asked to speak to Jennifer in Warranty Dept, but had to leave a call back request. Not getting anywhere with the builder or Green, I went ahead with the C&L to find the leak. They found the indoor coil had failed and scheduled a replacement a few days later (when the part was expected to arrive). While waiting on parts, I called Green looking for a show of good faith on this very new system. I got Tina in Warranty who conveyed the standard policy and passed me on to Garrick the General Mgr. Garrick was apparently aware of my situation and was stand-offish from the start. He first asked about my background (I’m an Electronics Tech by trade, & do have some HVAC background) before indicating he didn’t see Green as having any responsibility for the failed system or offer any middle ground since we “got 12-16 months of use out of it” & it was Trane’s part that failed, despite it actually being one cooling season & probably failed during the warranty period. I pointed out that the system was likely leaking from the start and wasn’t properly pressure/vacuum tested when installed during the winter based on the significance of the leak. Did someone shortcut the “commissioning” process to avoid being outside in the cold vs pencil whipping the paperwork so they could move on to the next house? … likely in this case. If I had paid Green for a checkup at 11-12 months this would all be moot (why would a new homeowner think that was needed). With no show of support at all, I had to move on … C & L got the coil installed, made sure everything pressure/vacuum tested correctly and nearly $1100 later my 16 month old system fixed … NO THANKS TO GREEN HEATING AND COOLING! I can’t believe Green has their name/number printed on the T-Stats if they have no time for you after the first 12 months. Another indicator of Green‘s poor customer service, is their ‘new home buyer’ letter indicating if you register your Model/Serial numbers with Trane w/i 90 days, the 5 year parts warranty gets extended to 10 yrs. Guess what, Green doesn’t list the actual Model/Serial numbers (3 per sys) and expects the avg homeowner to know where to look to find it themselves. If Green gives a std response here, it will show a lack of commitment to quality work such as “Your system was working properly … we provided 12 month warranty period”
Green's was the original installer and service group for our subdivision. I've been using the for 13 years with no problems. Now all of a sudden they say they're too busy to service us...ever! They recommend us to somebody else! So much for being a loyal customer. I'll never use them again!
Green's installed the HVAC for our house & neighborhood. I had to have them come out and see why one room was hotter than others only a year after they installed it in my house during construction (new house). One year later, same problem only in 2 rooms now! They refused to come out to see what the problem is! Sounds a little shady to me like they are out to get your money & do not offer a quality product or service! After contacting a Davis Heating & Air, they were there within 2 hours! They found a duct that had been zip-tied half way closed! Green Heating & Air admitted to doing this but refused to reimburse me for Davis coming out & fixing their mistake. !!!!!! Never again will I use or recommend Green Heating & Air!
The company sold 2 months ago, and the new owners are unresponsive and frankly rude. They are boldly telling everyone they are not accepting any new maintenance business. They installed my HVAC but now won’t maintain it!!!
Green Heating and Cooling has been doing our custom home and home remolding HVAC work for a couple of years. Garrick and the team are always friendly and professional. They show up when they say they will and perform the task as quoted.
Always on schedule. Perfect customer service. Always passes inspection first time. Very little come back warranty. They do what they say. By far, my best subcontractor, from scheduling to start-up. Highly recommend.
Typical new construction HVAC contractor. Inconsistent, poor design, no value add, cheap mismatched parts, all flex duct. Do yourself a favor and pay more to have a real HVAC contractor design a proper, balanced system for your home. Home values in subject neighborhood between $185K and $250K.
