I had a leak in my boiler and my heating oil company said we would probably need a new boiler. Upsetting because it is only 15 years old and would be an unexpected and maybe $10,000 expense. Riley Plumbing had the problem fixed the same day for $325. They are very clean, showed up when they said they would, and charged a fair price. My parents used them since to fix a couple of leaky faucets and they have the same glowing reviews. Thank you Riley Plumbing!

The CO2 Detector for the finance malfunctioned. Dave and with a CO2 tester and a new hardwired detector. The testing was completed and the installation was done in less than 30 minutes. Everything was tested and the peace of mind is worth the 200 the service call cost

Update: On January 24, 2020 my condo property manager called to notify me that the downstairs unit owner complained of a leak from my unit which had damaged his ceiling. The condo association's plumber came out to inspect my tub and fixtures on Jan. 27th and determined that the overflow faceplate was installed incorrectly causing the leak downstairs.
So not only did I in good faith pay Riley Plumbing for their "work" but now I'm having to pay for the damage they created and did not rectify when I asked them to. It's pure negligence! If I could, I'd give them 0 stars.

I'm reading all these wonderful reviews and had hoped that I myself would have had a good experience. I'm also noticing that all the reviews here come from male customers so maybe that is where I struck out. I was referred to WJ Riley Plumbing so I felt pretty confident about calling. They had several questions when I called, which I answered as best as I could, not really knowing much about plumbing. He asked if I purchased the tub fixtures to be replaced, I said I did and hopefully they are the right ones. They never sent anyone out to look at the proposed job, never gave me an estimate over the phone. On the appointed day, the tech was very punctual and went right to work. He determined that the parts I purchased would not fit, as I purchased a Delta and it needed a Symmons, "but you couldn't have known that since the name plate was not on it", he said. I said, what now? Do you have parts in your truck? No, nothing in his truck. He said that I, the customer, would have to go back out to a Home Depot or Lowe's to purchase the right parts. I said, I'd rather you go since you are the plumber and I've already gotten it wrong once. He said, " You want me to go?" I said "Yes, since I know nothing about plumbing, wouldn't it make more sense? Home Depot is less than a mile from here". He insisted I go, and later told me that he never goes to pick up supplies for a customer. That made no sense at all to me. I got the parts and gave them to him and left him to his work. When he was satisfied with the work, he started packing up. I went to look at the finished product and found that he had mixed old parts with the new, chrome and brushed nickel. He never removed my old drain, just plopped a new one on top. When I questioned him about these things, you could cut the awkwardness with a knife. Not wanting to make him uncomfortable, I paid my bill and decided to take it up with the owner. I uploaded pictures for the owner to look at but, all to no avail. I was wrong, they were right in doing the job that way because it is what I told them over the phone and those were the products that I bought. Some items in the box were not even opened for use or the job may have been done correctly. I say consumer beware, especially if you are a female! Anyone who does not come out to look at a job, gives you no estimate, expects the customer to purchase the right products though they are not plumbers, is not someone I would call ever again.

On April 29 I called the company to have come over for my Navien boiler regarding the error code "001" and descaling the machine. The technicians came and instead of performing a proper diagnosis, which is calling the company Navien and have their technician go through the error codes, the NSS plumber just diagnosed what the issue is and determined it is an issue regarding to air. NSS and his apprentice did not have the descaling equipments, so they told me I would have to make another appointment. They were here for 35 mins, which I was charged for $175 at the first full hour rate, as he told me that after 30 mins it is 1 hour. This, I tried to understand since the issue was "fixed".

On April 30th night, I noticed that my Navien boilder started not working again and gave me the error code "001". I clicked the "reset" button hoping that this is just a little glitch and this will resolve the issue. It did for 4 hours but the the boiler stopped again and gave me the same code.

On May 1 morning, I called back and told the company that it is providing me with the same error code again and asked to please do the proper diagnosis of the Navien, instead of having an experienced plumber diagnose it based on their "experiences". Dave and another apprentice came back, then we all called Navien and finally got through the customer service almost an hour later of calling, and Dave decided that descaling should correct the issue. After descaling was done, the error code was gone and there were no further work done. I was charged for 2 hours at $125 per hour so total of $250, which was "reduced rate" since it excluded the time they worked on diagnosing the error code properly that they did not do on the first appt. Here are several issues with these two visitations:

    1. If they did not have the descaling equipments when they were first visiting, they should have told me so that I can either reschedule the appt for next day or another day. Knowing that the first hour is $175 and the rest of rate is $125 per hour, him coming back for the 2nd day meant having a bigger charge. I would have absolutely saved over $300 should my equipment had been descaled on the first appointment like it was supposed to. Also, I was expecting much lower charge than $250 today since the plumbers came at 2:30, then descaling started at 3:15 and lasted until 4:50. Time spent until 3:15 was trying to diagnose the system properly that Dave did not perform on the initial appointment. Not only that, 30 mins was wasted as the apprentice had to go get cleaning chemicals for the descaling, since the plumbers were not prepared with them. I believe I really should have been charged much less, but there was going to be no negotiation.

    2. Before the plumbers were leaving, I asked them if the same error code occurs and if I call again, would there be charge. I was told by the NSS plumber should there be work done, there would be charge. I am unclear on this whether he was saying that if it is the same error code, the diagnosis time would be free but any action to fix the boiler would be charged, or I would just be charged for the entire time he spends here next time.

This was such an unpleasant experience from the phone calls with receptionist to the quality of work. If the same error code and issue rises again in the near future, I will be having my lawyer communicate with this company and just contact another NSS company to get the issue fixed at once.

I have no hot water. This company came to my home and then disappeared. I have been waiting for an estimate for 3 weeks. I have not heard from them or received a return phone call to my multiple messages. They have no consideration or regard for customers. Beware of this company, they have extremely poor customer service and are simply a waste of time.
