Not easy to deal with

Our mini-split heater/Air Conditioner porch unit needed repair. I am happy that Senior Tech Bill figured out the issue and got the repair done just in time for our house going on the market. The only reason this is not a 5-star is it took multiple services over two months (all hours long) and Carrier sending the wrong part before our issue was finally resolved. Bill deserves more than 5 stars for his tenacity and professionalism in fixing the issue.
Modern installed the A/C unit improperly, I with a faulty weld, this caused a slow coolant leak that took a few seasons to locate. Once it was discovered that the install was done improperly, they refused to stand by their work. They said the one year warranty was up, this has nothing to do with the warranty and everything with doing a proper job on a new build install. Keep in mind, all H-Vac companies sell the same product, use one that stands by their work. Don’t use Modern! I’m now stuck with a $1200 repair on a new system.

About 2 weeks ago (2/17) we woke to a burning plastic smell coming from our furnace. Modern came up in a HVAC near me search so we called them. They did show up quickly to service our furnace. I’ll give them that. The tech that came did a less than thorough service on the unit. The tech found some wrappers one of our children put in the return vent that must have been sucked in when we change the filter recently. The tech pretty much stopped his service at that point. He recommended at that point we replace our burners due to servere rusting. He closed everything back up and was on his way. A few days later, happening to be a Saturday (2/20), we woke to find our house not heating. Of course we called Modern back. We had to pay a $280 fee to the tech at the time of arrival plus time and materials to be billed later. Wowza! We paid it because we couldn’t be with out heat. A different tech came, also pretty quickly. He did a more thorough service on the unit as well but said nothing was wrong. He was happy to answer all questions we had. It was noticed that the filter was in backwards- we had not touched the furnace since the first tech so it’s safe to assume he put it in backwards. Because of this we had to replace the brand new filter we had just put in a week or so prior to the first tech. He also noted that our burners were fine and did not need replacement. He even took the time to show us how NOT rusted they were. By this point we were not happy to have had to pay a weekend fee to find out the filter was backwards and that nothing was wrong despite the heating issues and the continued burning plastic smell and to be told a repair was not actually needed. Throughout the next week we made multiple attempts to resolve this with Modern as we shouldn’t have had to pay a fee for something that they did. It felt like we were just getting tossed around and not taken seriously. Not to mention the less than thorough service. Little did we know at this point how much th
My air conditioner failed right when hot weather moved in. I searched several contractors and none could replace AC for less than 2-3 weeks out. I had my 93 year old mother with me. Dave appreciated the urgency and was able to work around and get us done in a week. Great customer service.
These guys stand behind their work! Three years after the fact we found an issue with the original installation of our furnace. After a few discussions, Jason came out to identify and confirm the issue. A few days later he came back and corrected what was needed at no charge. Their integrity is greatly appreciated!
My furnace was having issue kicking off, another place looked at it once, got it to work, then it died again. Since they told me the furnace was old, thought I would be replacing the furnace now for sure. A building inspector I know highly recommended Modern Heating. I called them to get an estimate for a replacement. They also suggested to have a technician check my furnace. Glad they suggested it, my old furnace is running fine for now, after they cleaned a flame sensor. I can postpone replacement a bit longer because of the honest staff at Modern Heating and technician who knows his product.
This company was fantastic. The crew members on site were friendly and hard working. The bid came back quickly, and they were respectful -communicative and willing to go the extra mile to make the installation work exactly as I had hoped. Hard to find a company who is reliable and creative, and they were both. Glad to have hired them. Will be a returning customer.

Having previously worked for an equipment manufacture in the HVAC industry, I have a lot of resources available to find a qualified contractor that services the Bryant residential brand. That and my geographical location put Modern Heating & Cooling on my radar. Over the past several years, I have relied on Modern for routine service calls. Fast forward to winter and my 13 year-old Bryant failing to run more than 15 mins. every 3 hrs. with the outdoor temp of well below freezing. I didn’t want to pay for an emergency tech to come out, so I called Modern the next morning and was able to get a tech to arrive within three hours of my call. Roger arrived and within 10 sec. of listening to my failure description pointed to the condensate trap. Fifteen mins. later the trap was cleaned and the furnace running. Roger was willing to answer a myriad of questions on the topic of choosing a new furnace, furnace life expectancy and so on. Roger will certainly be my tech of choice for future calls to Modern.
Great company to work with!! Bought my furnace and air conditioning units there 3 years ago. Fast forward to last weekend, furnace not working they had A tech come out Monday needed part they ordered and was installed the following day by 8am. Modern Heating... Great business Thank you, jade

Corey went out of his way to take care of my 79 year old mother's oil furnace and mom couldn't say enough about how nice he was and how he went above and beyond for her. I don't live close to my mom and can't do everyday things for her, so it makes me feel good that there are people that care about others and that are so great at what they do!!! Thank you, Corey.
