I own a condo in one of the older buildings in Washington DC. I had a HVAC unit for 2 years with no issues. After 2 years the cooling stopped working. My building HOA highly Recommended KW Smith and Son. They came out and installed a new unit. I voiced my concern to the technician to ensure the water discharge line for the AC was exiting thr condo (as my neighbor above me had water damage from their HVAC leaking into their unit). He confirmed that he installed it correctly. A month later my tenant noticed water damage in the unit (floors were soaked). KW Smith came out and "fixed" the problem. I then had to go through their insurance to get the floors replaced which ended up being an insert hassle. KW Smith kept refusing to disclose the contractors estimate to fix the floors while their insurance wanted me to settle on an amount. Finally I went directly to their insurance and got the correct information discovering they were trying to get me to settle to an amount $3k less than what it would cost to fix the floors Fast forward to August of 2022. My new tenant let me know that my new floors were looking odd. After inspecting the floors I noticed that there again is water damage. After calling KW Smith they told me this is my fault because I have not maintained my unit two times a year (they never informed me of this requirement. As stated above I had a previous HVAC system in there for 2 years, never maintained with no issues. From the last interaction with KW Smith I am exhausted with how difficult they were and have decided to have my insurance deal with them. They offered to come out and look at the unit, however at this point I don't trust them and have gone with another company. Bottom line, don't trust this company. They come across as "knowing" what they are doing but they don't. This has been a nightmare. I am pushing to have my HOA remove them from our Recommended HVAC company list. I was hesitant o make this post, but after my last interaction with them
The best in the business. They are absolute experts, and are 100 percent trustworthy, which I really value. They don't make things up and do everything they can to keep the costs down. One time it turned out that the issue was insignificant; even though, they were there for an hour they did fixed it for no charge. It is a wonderful family establishment. I have used them for multiple properties throughout the years.

Quick to respond to problems. Excellent Spring and Fall maintenance program. Techs are professional, courteous, on time and always willing to answer any questions you may have. Always leave space area worked in clean when done with service area. Have used them for years. Very reliable.

Originally they helped me with my thermostat. Years later i decided to go with them for my HVAC maintenance. They actually follow up and see how Im doing. So I would say this is a professional company. My last HVAC guy didnt follow up (fomr another company). All it takes is an email sometimes to follow up
