Robert Sherman is honest and reliable. Sherman does good work at a reasonable price. I have been using Sherman's service for 7 years. I will continue to use his service. I 100% recommend sherman's for Heating and Air Service needs.

Good all-around service
I own multiple homes. I've had multiple issues. I've worked with dozens of professionals or people who call themselves professionals. Mr. Sherman is probably one of the MOST honest and knowledgeable TRUE professionals I've had the pleasure to work with. He was able to not only diagnose my problems but help me actually understand what he was doing and why to ensure I knew what was going on. His transparency gave me great comfort knowing my equipment would be handled with care and the interventions would be SOLID. If you have the opportunity to work with Mr. Sherman do NOT walk - RUN and grab whatever availability he has. He's AMAZING!

I can't say enough good things about this company. When I have had HVAC issues, they are always available to help promptly and solve my issues at a very fair price. What's better, before they come out, they will try to help me walk through problems and potential fixes over the phone before having to come out, saving me time and money. They're the ones to call if you need help or have questions about your system.
We called this morning and within an hour there was a technician at our door. Not only did Bob identify and fix the problem with our furnace but he also took the time to explain everything he did and teach us how to identify issues in the future.
Mr Sherman has serviced our HVAC for the past two years, and I plan to use him as long as I own the house. Outstanding knowledge and skills in the trade, very fair price and superior timeliness. Troubleshoots exceptionally quick. He explains how things work, and has talked my husband thru a few repairs over the phone. You can trust Shermans to take great care of your system.
On the hottest day of summer, our air conditioner stopped working at 7 a.m. We called Shermans and by 9:30 he was there and had the air conditioner up and running by 10:00 a.m. What a lifesaver. We have used Shermans before and the work is always well done and priced reasonably. Would not use anyone else.
Bob Sherman responded quickly on a Saturday afternoon in August and repaired my AC unit with minimum cost. He is old fashioned and knows his business very well, and his prices are fair. I highly recommend him!!
He showed up on a Saturday to troubleshoot a loss of cooling. He was very honest and blunt, but he took the time to walk me through what he was doing and why. He checked the entire system in about 15 minutes and narrowed it down to a capacitor. Our previous company just said our system was old and wanted to sell us an entire new one. The price was relatively reasonable and fair considering the weekend last-minute call and thoroughness of the work. And had he overcharged me for unnecessary work, it would have been a lot higher. I recommend.
This is by far the best heating and air conditioning company I have ever done business with. Mr. Sherman has worked on my HVAC system 3 times in the past 6 years. He shows up fast, is able to troubleshoot very complex problems quickly and charges a very fair price. When my furnace kept cycling off and on because of a pressure switch – Mr. Sherman took 15 minutes on phone with me and explained how I could clean a small condensate trap and fix it myself. I did what he said and it was fixed. And he wouldn’t take any money for the time he took helping me. Whenever friends or family members have a problem with their heating or air conditioning system I tell them to call Mr. Sherman.

Called Sherman on a Sunday evening because our heater wasn't turning on. He showed up in a half hour and found the issue and resolved it. Very nice guy, honest, and his prices are lower than anyone.
My wife and I had an air conditioner that had stopped working. We called Sherman to come out and determine it could be repaired or if a replacement was needed. The air conditioner is kept in the back yard in a small fenced in area. The unit and the trash can are both located in the fenced in area. This information was made clear when the service tech was there to inspect the unit. Following an inspection of the unit, it was determined a replacement was necessary. The new unit (American Standard unit replaced an older Carrier unit) is quite larger than the old unit. The service tech, instead of taking out the old pad and making room for the new pad, placed the new pad partially on the old pad and out onto the stone patio area where the trash can was to be located. The service tech installed the new unit in a place that makes it impossible for the trash can to fit back in its place in the fenced in area. I have called Sherman's to see if they could come out and move the unit. They are saying I'll have to pay another $500 to have the unit moved back to the original location of the older unit (which is less than 2 feet from its current location). I will say, if you're looking for expedited service, they made their first visit and installed the unit all within about a 24 hour time span. But if you're looking for a company that's going to respect you as a customer and not cut corners in their work, I'd look elsewhere.
I originally stumbled on this company's phone number two years ago after striking out with several of the bigger-named HVAC services... My furnace was out and they were not able to send someone for days. So luckily I called Sherman's Heating & Air Conditioning, and Mr. Sherman spent a lot of time giving me very detailed and helpful suggestions so that I was able to fix the problem myself. Great diagnostician, perfect solution. I wrote myself a note to call them if we had HVAC problems again. Well last night it dropped into the single digits, and the furnace blew out. And this morning I again got a phone consult which solved the problem. Think of the savings! When I offered to send Mr. Sherman a check in the mail for his time, he said, "No, this is just what we do as a part of good customer service." Wow. Good old-fashioned helpfulness and honesty. Saved hundreds! Stop looking you have found the guy you need to work with - it is Bob. Trustworthy, honesty, integrity, and great savings! We had him repair our home heating system in Alexandria. He offered to fix the problem by phone at no charge and kept costs low when we determined a new part was needed. He arrived on the job within 15 minutes and had the whole problem fixed in 2 hours. So many competitors would have tried to sell us on a new system or missed the fix - not this one. Alexandria - Sept 2013
Sherman's is the go to company for heating & air conditioning services in Northern, Va. He is very is very knowledgeable and does not mine sharing his knowledge with the customer. He has been around long enough to have seen all of the service problems and knows how to fix them. He won’t try to sell you something that you don’t need, but if he says you need it you best pay attention otherwise you will be calling him back. His work is top notch and his prices are much lower than his competitors. He put a new A/C unit in today and I am very pleased with his work. I highly recommend Sherman’s Heat & Air Condition.
08/06/2013:Yet again, I find myself for the 4th year running have some mid-summer AC issues... Sherman comes out, same day, and quickly resolved my issue for about 1/2 the price of some others I called who could not get out to my house for several days. I simply cannot stress enough how great Sherman AC is for those within his service area. Once we decide to install a new AC, I will definitely make Sherman my first (and most likely only) call. 05/15/2012 update: Turned on AC due to humidity in the air this morning, set thermostat to 76. Came home, house was sitting at 80 degrees, with the outside temp 78. Ugh... the inside fan is turning, but my outside unit was not. I did not have time to mess around with this, so I called Sherman AC as usual to try and set up a time for tomorrow or the day following. This is at 6:15PM... he said he'd be over in 40 minutes. He showed up promptly, and came to my outside unit, walked me through the troubleshooting, replaced a fuse, added some other starting component to try and prevent fuse issues and explained how I could do this myself in the future and what steps to take if the outdoor fan stopped working again. Filled up my AC with some more coolant (an annual or bi-annual occurrence for my older unit), and walked away with an incredibly reason bill. Cannot believe this level of A+ 5 star service still exists. 07/22/2011 initial review: Sherman is the only AC repair I'll ever use again -- I called last year in mid-August right after a heat spell -- he spent about 40 minutes with me going over my system, tell me how to improve effeciency, and how to troubleshoot in the future (in a way, taking away his business, if I don't have to call anyone?!) -- but that's the way Bob is -- he just wants to help you, and isn't trying to rip anyone off. Anyways, in 2010 on August, called at 2pm, after I had two other appointments with companies (they couldn't come until later in the week), called Bob at 2pm, and he was at my door in
