Awesome service.
The installation crew did a great job.
I truly could not recommend this company enough! I recently purchased a home with oil heating and was unfamiliar with what it entailed. Not only did they send someone out to check on my system, but they were incredibly honest/transparent about how much oil I REALLY needed to purchase to heat my home (i.e. didn’t try to upsell me even though I was clearly in unfamiliar territory). The tech and his partner who were sent out answered every silly question I had and were incredibly kind and respectful. The team at DE Duffey is knowledgable, professional, and epitomizes what it means to have good customer service. I’d give 6 stars if I could!
We own a 4-story home from 1880 and while there was central air conditioning, it did not reach the top floors with enough power to heat or cool adequately. We contacted D.E. Duffey & Sons who had previously done an excellent job converting us from oil to gas in 2017. The primary concerns for both us and Duffey were the very thick Wissahickon Schist walls they would have to drill through and gaining egress to the outside without damaging the roof at a sufficient angle to drain appropriately. Before agreeing to contract the work, Duffey sent a team to confirm the mini-split system could be installed correctly including drilling access test points in the walls. Since I am writing this review, the tests proved successful, and we contracted with Duffey to install a 4-head mini-split system. Three heads on the top level and a 4th head in our walkout basement which will act as a dehumidifier as well as provide heat and cooling. I can’t say enough good things about the job Duffey did. They sent a large team to take make sure they could handle the inside and outside work safely and quickly. Everything was neat and clean when they left each day. All the holes they had to drill were sealed in and they even painted the white tubing to better blend in with our house. I would highly recommend the Duffey team.
Great service, family run for the personal touch.
Quick, friendly service. Thorough technicians. This is a family owned business and you can really feel that. There are many ways to pay your bill with ease. I'm way more than satisfied with this company and will not go anywhere else. Thank you so much!
Fantastic family-owned business. Always courteous and professional. They ALWAYS are available for emergency calls. I switched to their automatic heating oil delivery 2 years ago. I'm sticking with them. I highly recommend D E Duffey & Sons.
Pete and Joe's team did a great job installing our new heating system. They had a few guys come out so it was nice to get the job done in less than 2 days. We were very comforted by Ken's knowledge in explaining what system would be best for our house too. Thanks all!
Central air unit was acting up on friday7/16 …. And one phone call to Kate in the office got the response we needed… the techs Steve and Aidan were professional and solved the problem pretty quickly… we have been customers of Duffeys for 35 years and I would recommend their services to anyone!
We recently had a ductless heating and air conditioning system installed by DE Duffey & Sons. The entire team from sales to installation did a really great job! They were professional, communicative, attentive to detail, and respectful of the property. They made this a very easy and stress-free process. I highly recommend this company. Great quality and value.
Amanda is always comforting and professional on the phone when I call. Dan came out to fix my heating system after my hot water component stopped working. He was kind, professional, and efficient.
Duffey installed Central Air at our house in early May. The whole process was easy, efficient and overall a great experience. They had everything done in 3 days, left the house looking great each day when they left despite the challenge of blown insulation in the attic, and addressed any concerns promptly. It was overall a great experience!
We have been with Duffy for our heater and oil needs for many years and they have always been very professional and responsive whenever we needed them. Now we needed a new AC system as ours was 20+ years old. They were very helpful recommending what would best suit the needs of our home, and always available to answer questions. Their installer team did an awesome job, even more than we expected as the duct system was redesigned and we have much more room in the attic then before the install. Thanks again Duffy & Sons!
Great service!
Its too bad there isnt a Six star rating because this company deserves it. They are always very fast with service calls, ie my oil furnace problems, the tech guys who arrive are polite, knowledgeable and get the job done right, and are happy to point out the details of how the equipment functions.
My Mother used DE Duffey and Sons. This review is on her behalf. I purchased a Peerless Purifier boiler a few years ago from Duffey. It had one problem after the next. The owner, salesman nor the company representative returned any of my calls. The technicians could not repair it. The company whom I had found to repair it and do yearly maintenance recently decided not to service the Philadelphia area any longer; they suggested I call Duffey again. We lost heat again, so I decided to give Duffey a call. Mike at Duffey said they no longer sell peels boilers and wanted to know why I was calling them since they could not help me before. In addition to almost eight thousand dollars I spent at Duffey's, I have spent an additional four thousand dollars for repairs and additions to the boiler system. I would not recommend this company; they do not stand behind they products and do not know how to repair them. -Helen Atkinson
I purchased a Peerless Purifier boiler a few years ago from Duffey. It has had one problem after another. The owner, the salesman, and the company rep never returned my calls. The technicians could not repair it. Recently the company I found to repair it and do yearly maintenance decided not to service Philadelphia Area any longer ; they suggested I call Duffey again because once again we have no heat. Mike at Duffey said they no longer sell Peerless boilers and wanted to know why I was calling them since Even though they were the installers they couldn’t Help me before. Duffey charged me 8 thousand dollars in addition to that I have spent over 4 thousand dollars for repairs and additions to the system. Not to mention many work days lost , hours on the phone, hours waiting for technicians and NO HEAT! I would not recommend this company; they do not stand behind their products and do not know how to repair them.
Had an appointment this morning to check our heater to make sure it was operating properly. Received a call from Mike telling me in not a nice way it would cost 114.00 for the guy to walk through our door, okay with that , we didn’t except it to be free. Mike went on to rant in a nasty tone about the service charge, possible parts fee , etc. We never used Duffy our former heating guy retired so we figured we would stay local and try someone new . Our someone new will not be Duffy my suggestion is Mike brush up on his people skills.
I had a pretty mixed experience with Duffy’s. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: -Calls were returned relatively promptly -courteous staff Cons: -for a company that deals with essential appliances that can break on a dime, they hold pretty strict business hours. For my first call, who was an emergency heat call on a Friday, I was told to wait until Monday, when they wouldn’t be able to come until after 4. Seems like a tight window for folks who work (I had to rush home from my hour commute not wanting to miss my window). -first tech that came diagnosed the problem as just an off emergency gas switch. I questioned whether this was really the issue and asked him to kindly stick around for 10-15 minutes until the radiators warmed up. He assured me they would. I didn’t push him on it, trusting his judgment. Lesson learned- doesn’t really pay to be patient anymore! Sure enough heat never came on and I was back at square one trying to get another tech, this time using one of my sick days to do so. Please respect your customers’ time as we would respect yours. -really unclear pricing. I was told the call would be 115 plus parts, which is fine, except the part ended up being 390 bucks. The at cost price I have found ranges from 190-211, which makes it more than a 75% markup! I understand it being a family business that need to meet healthcare costs for employees and their bottom line, but please be more upfront about part costs with your customers if that’s the case. We’re average people too ( I am a high school teacher ). I wouldn’t even mind paying a markup for the sake of convenience but the scheduling difficulties mentioned above made it not all that convenient. Bottom line, this seems like a competent company that has been around for a long time, but they didn’t win any new customers with me. It’s a shame bc I’m a new homeowner with an old house (and maybe eventually a need for an entirely new AC system or furnace!) I will go elsewhere.
Duffey has a customer for life in me! They recently installed two Weil McLain boilers in my home and had a team work in a couple days to get the job done right. It’s refreshing to have a professional job and receive what you expect when hiring a company. Thank Duffey team!
