I use this company for all of my heating and cooling needs because their prices are competitive and their technicians do good work in a professional and courteous manner.
Also, please see their rude and dismissive repose to my comment… I have witnesses and video evidence to back up everything I said. Universal came out last year to look at our AC that had stopped working suddenly, they replaced the circuit board and it worked again. Same thing happened this summer (less than a year after they were here the first time) so we called them again to come back out and look at it. The man was rude, he kept going in and out slamming my doors and then kept telling me he was giving us the benefit of the doubt about there being water on the circuit board even though they were the last ones to replace it, so I am not sure what he was even doubting on our part. Once he left I felt beyond belittled and disrepected and honestly a little shaken (in my home!) and my AC still was not functioning properly. I absolutely would not reccomend this company to anyone. Had someone else look at it the next day, he figured out almost immediatley why was going on and how we could actually fix the problem.
Have used Universal heating for a few years, good customer service, reasonable pricing on services and on time when they say they will come -they are very accurate. I would definitely recommend Universal heating if you are having issues with any of your heating or central air concerns.
I have been a customer of Universal Heating & Cooling since 1999 when they replaced my home HVAC system. I requested quotes from Universal and two other companies when it came time to replace the HVAC system and water heater in 2022. Universal had the best price for the same equipment quoted., beating the other two companies by $1200 and $4000 respectively. I had used Universal for routine maintenance and 1 service call over the last 23 years with complete satisfaction. As for the new HVAC system, Chadd did a thorough assessment of my needs and made recommendations that were not overselling the products and answered my many questions and concerns. The quote was detailed and complete, not my experience with other companies. The technicians were professional and respectful of our property during the installation. They answered our questions and left the place spotless at the end of each day. It's great to see a local family owned business focused on customer satisfaction and providing great products and service at a very competitive price.
I did not have a good experience with this company at all. The tech did a poor job with diagnostics for a leak with my hot water tank. He suggested full placement but turns out it was only the drain valve that needed repair. Thanks to another experienced tech, the valve was replaced and is working fine. I did not need to replace the tank! When I discussed with manager the problem and requested another visit to reassess, he wasn’t quite receptive. Somewhat rude and arrogant. The guy who answered the phone to set up the appointment was also rude. I don’t recommend this company for hot water tanks.
Universal is local, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They have a solid team of techs and are very communicative about the work that needs to be done and how much it will cost. The large institutional Rochester HVAC contractors don't care about customers in the city. Universal treats me fairly and in Roc that really stands out.
Thank you for your quick and professional service. One of the coldest days of the winter and my heat goes out but Universal arrived right on time!
I have used them at my old house and new build for furnace and AC maintenance. They have always been on time, done nice work, and priced very well.

I woke up and my house was cold. I let it go until the next day thinking it would kick on, it didn’t. I called Universal they arrived within 20 mins. They explained what they found repaired it and I had heat in about 30 minutes. It was wonderful!!! Thank you Universal.
After months of trying to get my older propane furnace converted to natural gas, I finally found the people to do it! Chad answered my email within a few hours and had Russ out to fix things within the week! They solved the scheduling issue I was having with RG&E by offering a better furnace part solution and had things ready for a new meter in a day! I would highly recommend them and will be using them again whenever I need service!
Universal knows boilers! We’ve had some bad experiences with other companies that said they knew boilers and clearly they did not. Universal explains what is needed as well as options to consider. Their prices are fair and they work quickly and neatly. I can’t imagine another company doing better. If you need heating or cooling work, Universal is my best recommendation!!!
I have been using Universal HVAC for about 20 years. They are always available and pick up the phone ( a real human - Mary - such a sweetheart - not a recording). I have used them for installations, maintenance and repair. I highly recommend them to my Real Estate clients! Owners are always available to answer questions. Love these guys!!!
Charged $115 for the two filters. I think it is a rip off it is easily available by any vendor for $65. The installation was extra
So easy to get an appointment. The price was great for doing both the furnace and A/C together. I was notified before they were arriving at the house. Very polite and look forward to doing more business with them in the future.
Dear Universal, The quality of the furnace and the quality of the workmanship and the professionalism of the 2 HVAC installation techs was outstanding. The new furnace works wonderfully. The air conditioner works great. The custom built air filter, which no one else said they could provide, is top knotch. I went to the basement to clean up when they were close to getting done and they had already cleaned their work area and the floor to the front door. I told then that I had a steam mop and they didn't need to do it but the HVAC installation techs said they wanted to be fully satisfied with their attention to quality of work and service. I didn't mind waiting in the least because your companies commitment to service, quality and professionalism was worth waiting until your team was available. I know it can be hard to get good people but everyone you sent to my house was top knotch and I am very greatful that I chose Rheem for the furnace and that I chose your company for the installation. I will attest to anyone in Rochester that I think Universal Heating and Cooling is among the best of the best in the Rochester area. Sincerely, LM
