Run away, fast and far. Townsend prices are ridiculous. $1 more per gallon than competitors. That comes out to about $200 more per fill up. Service is also very expensive. I was a Halle Oil customer for many years and they were great. Too bad they were taken over by an uncaring corporation.
I was on auto delivery and called to cancel and explained a switched to electric heat to save on oil costs. The women said no problem, what I can do is put your account on hold and if anything changes on your end, call us back and we can continue to deliver. I never called back and came home one day to a filled oil tank and a $1000 bill. I immediately called and spoke to a woman who said it was their mistake and what they could do is either pump it out or give me a discount. When I asked the discount price she said a manager would contact me. The manager calls me and says if I want it pumped out, I have to pay and they'd knock $70 off the bill and would not go lower. I said so I'm stuck with a $930 bill I did not ask for? She said yeah pretty much or you can pay us to pump it out. I would not recommend Townsend Oil to anybody. Save your wallet and go elsewhere.
Having a difficult time with Townsend. I’m on Automatic delivery yet today I checked and my propane is so low I can’t see the needle. I’ve been told delivery would be within the hour, I’ve been told by 7PM and now I’m being told no delivery until tomorrow. I’m sure they can do better.

First, I’ve been a steady customer of ML Halle which sold to Townsend Energy several years ago. Probably a customer to 10 years or more. I’ve always called for oil deliveries and had a card on file so payment was instant. Their oil price was always plus or minus ten cents of all others that delivered in the area and provided full services too. I ordered oil earlier this week during the day and I was surprised it was an answering service that took my order for 100 gallons. I was expecting a charge of $534.00 to topside of $548.00. I was charged $634.00 which was charged off my card on file that day. Still shaking my head I checked prices again and they are basically $100.00 less than I paid. I called and spook to Max and he said that price was their floating price. I asked if it could be lowered given what everyone else is charging. I was told it could get it lowered to $5.79 a gallon if I signed a contract until the end of April. I never lock in on pricing for fuel. So Max couldn’t lower it because I wouldn’t commit to a contract. I spook to the manager and got the full service provider speech that is why we charge more. Plus, sign a contract or we can’t reduce the over charge of basically $100.00 for a 100 gallons of oil. I know Halle would never operate a business like this period. I was a loyal customer for years. I expected to pay an extra five or ten cents a gallon for friendly and professional delivery services certainly not a $1.00 more per gallon that’s insane and just bad business. By the way I’ve been in the plumbing, HVAC and energy service’s business for 35 years. I’ll be sure to let others know my experience with Townsend Energy. Very disappointed in the way you handle your business. It’s called taken advantage of the consumer.
Terrible service. I called for oil 2 days ago only to be talking with an answering service that doesn't seem to know what they're supposed to do because they never put the order in. Finally after calling them 3 times they got their act together and delivered the oil and to make make matters worse, they charged $30 more than what they said they would.
Today ended the The 20 year relationship I’ve had with Townsend or whoever made kerosene delivery service has been over the years I’ve lived at my residence. Never did we miss any payments nor were we late with any payments until this year when The elder of our home contracted Covid unfortunately this lead to financial problems and the state needed to help us with one of our oil payments. I notified Townsen of the problem and they didn’t seem to be a problem until we ran out of home heating kerosene I attempted to contact Townsend but they wouldn’t do anything until I had information on the payment from the state so I contacted the state and located the payment and let down to know when the payment would be arriving unfortunately that wasn’t enough of them and we were stuck with no heat for the last month and a half today I called them to make sure that they did receive the check and I was notified that I was terminated as a customer. I’m beside myself on how my family has been treated through this towns and it’s not a family owned business like they portray they’re just a big corporation looking out for themselves and they just lost a 20 year customer because of one invoice for a half a tank of kerosene beware of this company bring your business elsewhere
I have to say that Townsend Energy is the best. I was a Halle Oil customer for awhile before they joined Townsend. The Manchester office is awesome. Elena has always been wonderful and extremely helpful. She has never steered me wrong and answers any question that I may have. I tried not that long ago to go to a company that charges a little less but that company took FOREVER to deliver to us. I will never try to call another company ever again. Thank you Townsend Energy for being extremely reliable and helpful.
Rescued from a low tank (and Fred Fuller) on Sunday, January 5, 2014 and we've been satisfied customers ever since.
Between my two properties I have been with ML Halle Oil for over 45 years. Ever since Townsend bought ML Halle, customer service has not been the same and its such ashamed. There are so many things that are wrong now that Townsend took over. For one, it's not a 'local' company anymore. Every time I call for a deliver or schedule an appointment for maintenance they literally have no ide who I am and it's very frustrating. The last time I called, their 'answering service' person/line asked me "what type of oil do I need?" Really??? Second, when their answering service line picks up, half the time I have no clue what they are asking me because he sounds like he's either stoned or drunk. He's slurring his words and I constantly have to repeat myself. And thirdly, they don't leave the invoice/receipt anymore and when we do receive our bill in the mail it's three weeks out and now our bill is late and we don't get the 5% off discount either. I don't know what is going on there at Townsend but it's a mess and we are going to be switching to a new company. We don't have time to keep calling them for my bill and other issues that we have with them.

Called on 3/16/20 to have oil delivered on 3/17/20. I was told that the delivery drivers are no longer allowed to pick up checks. I had to pay by check, debit/credit card over the phone. I gave my checking account info even though I dont feel secure doing that. Today received a call saying that we owe them money for the delivery. I have no problem paying them but boy does it make me angry when I'm accused of not having money in my account or it's the banks fault that the payment was rejected. First of all, my wife work for the bank and it never was rejected and we pay our Bill's. There was no question that the money was available. We wouldn't have scheduled a delivery if we couldn't pay for it. To be acccused by their customer service associate of this has me done with with this company. We always used Halle Oil. , unfortunately they have been obtained by Townsend. Goodbye I'll never be back.
Just bought a new home and asked Townsend to come clean furnace just to be sure all was OK, Got a call yesterday they had an opening and came a day early, tech found a couple minor issues and corrected them, answered all my6 questions and gave great advice. He was friendly, knowledgeable and did an excellent job! What more could you ask for?

Greg came over to service my boiler. I've never owned a home before and he was kind enough to show my how the boiler worked and where all the pipes were and what to look for if I ever had no heat. He was very knowledgeable and a nice guy.
Mike did a great job checking all my gas connections. He was promptly on time and finished his work quickly. Highly recommend! I also really like their budget pay pricing so I can pick the day they draft my account 😊
JUDY was great! She was super knowledgeable. She was able to schedule all my appointments effortlessly.
I just had an on demand generator installed and Townsend did the propane hookup, I was very impressed with their professional services. Great job.
Brian made an emergency call for no heat at our house on one of the coldest nights so far this winter. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had us back to making heat in less than 20 minutes. Great all around tech and he goes the extra mile every time.
Everyone from people answering the phone to technicians are really nice and try hard to do the best for you.
