As much as I like to support local businesses, I simply can’t recommend UltraGeothermal. They serviced our unit that included a repair with parts under warranty. Ultra initially refused to submit the claim. Working with the manufacturer and distributor, I confirmed the warranty was valid and that the warranty submission would take Ultra a matter of minutes. I was finally able to convince them to submit the claim and reimburse the money, but it took about a dozen phone calls and emails. The people at UltraGeothermal explained that the business had recently been sold, and that the transition was disruptive in many ways. Whatever the case, the people we worked with were condescending and rude. I asked them why they were communicating so unprofessionally, and they told me if I didn’t like it I should call somebody else for service next time. I definitely will, and I recommend others consider alternatives as well.
They might be a decent contractor, but I'll never know because the salesman I called didn't want my business. "If your timeline is shorter than 6 months, then we can't accommodate you" and when asked for a referral, "Just go google for geothermal in New Hampshire". I appreciate that everyone is busy, but please, don't be a jerk.
I cannot say enough nice things about Darren and his company. If you have Geothermal, you need Ultra Geothermal on your list - Darren might hate me for saying that as they're swamped with work, but they are by far and away the best service out there. They are knowledgeable with the products and the systems and were extremely empathetic when coming to a complete system overhaul. Darren ordered a new unit for us and got it in and running before the recent heatwave when we were originally looking at a 6-8 week lead time. The install team were amazing, so friendly, organized and efficient. Not only that they were great with my dog and wanted to say goodbye to the pup before they left! One thing to note, the install team also fixed a piping issue on my hot water heater installed by another company that wasn't familiar with Geothermal systems and super-heaters. Lastly, Dustin, who came to run the electrical, was extremely thorough in his install even replacing the thermostat with a brand new WiFi enabled one that is super simple to use (unlike the last). We're two weeks post install, and last night I received an email from Darren reminding me to complete my warranty on the unit because he doesn't want me to forget about it. This is the type of service that our grandparents talked about, saying "you don't get service like that anymore!" Well you do with Ultra Geothermal. Far and away the best Geothermal company in the area, stay from the others and call Darren and his team!
They were excellent when they installed my system 13 years ago and they were excellent when the made a repair this week. Service like that takes a serious commitment towards customer service!
Slow to respond. Probably overwhelmed with potential business.
Pros: 1. Darren is very knowledgeable. He designed a system that was economical and made sense. 2. Darren and service crew are always responsible to any questions I may have. 3. Their cost is the lowest among all quotes. Con: 1. Install crew was not up to the task. Maybe due to labor shortage in pandemic. Just an in complete list: loose screws and trash everywhere after install; Tied the refrigerate lines to house frame so the whole house was shaking when heat pump was working due to resonance. Fixed by support team. Drain line for propane furnace direct drain to outdoor, frozen in winter and flood the basement. Fixed by homeowner by using existing drain line from old replaced system. Heat pump out door unit was directly placed on a plastic support, in turn, on soil. In less than a year, the unit was not leveled and made bigger noise.
The entire experience was ideal. Their longstanding industry experience was put into action help us select the best heat pump configuration to (1) maximize our rebate and keep costs $2-5,000 lower than other quotes; (2) provide the most simple and ideal setup for our current needs; and (3) provide flexibility for future expansions, modifications, etc. I have already and will continue to recommend Ultra Geothermal.
Very pleased with them. Darrin designed a system much less costly than what I originally wanted and explained why to my satisfaction. That's integrity! The crew that came to do the work were personable, very good at their jobs, answered all my stupid questions, and did quality work in less than ideal work space. They discussed options and valued my input. I'm impressed.
We took a long time considering on geothermal (versus oil), and have to say we couldnt be happier with going geothermal. With Darren Rice you are working with a true professional (cant emphasize that enough) who truly knows his trade. In all Darren bent over backwards working with us during several construction delays with other subs. If there was a 6th star in this rating I would give it. If considering geothermal and tired of working with companies that either dont know the science behind the process and or aren't willing to take the time to truly make you an informed consumer, then look no further. Our highest marks for Darren and his team at Ultra Geothermal
Stop looking, this is the company you want to install or fix your heating or cooling system. Every encounter with Darren or any employee made me wish that these guys did other contract work outside heating and cooling as it is tough to find contractors like them. Responses arealways timely, and they always went above and beyond. It is clear that they are not only experts at what they do, they genuinely care about it. Darren will be honest with you and help you figure out the best solution for you. There are lots of people and companies that do this work, but nobody does it with the grace, positivity, professionalism, and honesty that these guys do.
Super satisfied with the work Ultra Geothermal did in installing two new ground source heat pumps in our mixed use property in central MA. We'd talked with a few companies and Darren at Ultra stood out as being the most personally interested in the success of our project, and really took time to answer our questions and help us understand the different choices we could make. I felt like a couple other companies would've installed whatever I asked for, even if it wasn't the appropriate system, just to get the job. But Darren really explained what the optimal equipment would be and why. A few months after the installation everything's been working great. All of the new ductwork looks great... tight, clean, very well done. Ultra's team of sheetmetal guys and everyone else we had in the home were very respectful and professional and clearly cared in the quality of the work. We were really nervous about the whole project in general given the large $$ investment but feel great about our decision to go with them.
Darrin & Melissa are awesome. They spent a great deal of time helping me understand the options and finding the best value for a new system even before I hired them — quick and timely install and always there for any trouble shooting. Having grown up around the trades I can say these guys are the real deal; knowledgeable, considerate, responsible. A rare find these days.
I recently built a new home and wanted to have a geothermal system installed. I had geothermal installed in my previous home which was supplied by a different seacoast area company and I was very disappointed with very frequent service issues and the maintenance charges. I found Ultra Geothermal in a Google search and scheduled to meet with Darren, the owner. He visited with me at the site of my new home, made some suggestions and provided me with a quote. He also listened to my concerns relating to my previous system and explained how his system would be different. It's been 2 years since Ultra Geothermal installed my system and I absolutely could not be happier. The technicians that installed the system were very profession and kept the work area spotless. The system has worked flawlessly for 2 years with only the need to change filters. Darren and his team did an excellent job and I would recommend Ultra Geothermal to anyone looking for a professionally installed and warranteed system. No need to look elsewhere!
We had Ultra Geothermal install our unit and they did an amazing job. Darren and his crew did a great job they were very helpful teaching us how to use it. They are very professional and courteous. Amazing firm. Darren and Melissa are true professionals. My wife and I built a home in 2017, and after months of research decided to move forward with Ultra Geothermal for our home heating and cooling system. From the initial design and budgeting phase to the duct work, heat pump selection, ERV and Humidifier, everything was installed with care and the highest level of professionalism. It’s been 12 months since we had it installed and we could not be happier. The Geothermal system is unbeatable for AC- and heats our 3000sqft home up in minutes. Almost zero maintenance, with just an air filter replacement every 6 months. I would confidently reccomend anyone looking to replace a gas or oil burner, call these guys ASAP. While there is a tax credit for this green solution, it makes it a no brainer, and you’ll never have a gas or oil bill again.
While I am not within the area that Ultra Geothermal services, I am writing this review to share my experience over the phone. Melissa spent a great deal of time sharing her extensive knowledge and a strong list of resources/references, based on years of experience in the field. She has been tremendously helpful and professional, and I have been in contact with countless professionals in this field over the course of the past five years. I highly recommend Ultra Geothermal.
We were very pleased with the work done by Ultra Geothermal. Our home went from being cold and drafty, to consistently heated, efficient, and very comfortable in every room, even those ones directly facing the outside on a 10 degree day! The work was also done in timely manner, and customer service was always available.
Ultra Geothermal installed my system 4 years ago and it has performed flawlessly! Darren spent extra time out of his day to trouble shoot an electric issue form a power outage with me and worked throughout the installation process to make sure our pit was the correct dimensions. They even worked in the dark on a Friday night to install the pipes to keep me on schedule! Highly recommend them to anyone looking to go with geothermal!
Had Ultra Geothermal convert my open loop system to a closed loop system 5 years ago. Have not had one problem with it since the conversion! I also have recommended them for doing the same to several homes in our development. Everyone has been pleased with the level of knowledge, service, and efficiency of the company. Nice people who know what they are doing... and that is "Ultra" important when it comes to investing in "Green Energy"..
