My 20+ year old A/C was dead and overdue for replacement, so I tried two of the HVAC companies that send postcards every month. Both quotes were obscenely expensive, so I decided to try a few more quotes, including Mike at Bar-Low, who had provided a "life support" service call a few years earlier. Mike's quote saved me several thousand dollars, gave me a more efficient system and a high quality installation, was completed exactly when he promised, and at exactly the dollar amount quoted.
First time using Bar-low Heating and will remain a customer moving forward. They were able to come out the same day and earlier than expected. They informed me of everything they were doing, very professional and personable. They showed me issues from the last hvac company and adjusted to the correct specs. Their pricing was very fair for the time they spent working on the boiler and burner.
The absolute most genuine, dependable people in the business - highly recommended!!!

Mike has been out to the house a few times and has taken the time to teach me about the system so I know how to address anything that comes up. He is knowledgeable, reasonably priced and responsive. I often highly recommend him.
I was a loyal customer for years but then this year, the owner canceled our first tune up appointment due to an emergency boiler installation. Then we made the second appointment. He came early to the second appointment and left because I wasn’t home. I was home for the agreed appointment time and sitting at home for hours only to find out he came early. He came early without calling me to tell me he was coming early. He was rude and unapologetic. Please think twice before making appointment with this company. It seems all they care about is going where the money is which is answering emergency calls instead of serving their loyal customers. He wasted my time twice and lost my business.
My boiler was leaking and heat wasn't working in our upstairs. Called them at 8 AM. Mike showed up LATER THAT MORNING. Then, when a valve didn't work, he showed up the next day and replaced it. Quick, easy, painless and very reasonably priced. Also, he wipes off his shoes every time he walks into your house, which is a really nice touch. Couldn't recommend any higher!
I had a boiler problem and didn't have heat or hot water. Mike showed up in no time and had the problem diagnosed and fixed in less than 20 minutes. Bar-low has been very helpful over the years. Highly recommended!
Mike has come out to my house on two occasions now. He did a thorough cleaning of my furnace for a very reasonable price and he had advised me that it was 75% blocked. At that time I was extremely pleased with him and then recently I had a water leak that resulted in my having to call him again just before Thanksgiving. He came out on short notice and changed an expansion tank for me and a few related parts again for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Mike and his daughter that accompanies him. They do excellent work for a reasonable price and they are decent people.
Mike has always provided superior work at a fair price ... he knows no other way. His work is always complete and very professional. Don't worry if there is an issue afterwards because Mike will keep at it until you are completely satisfied.
If I could give Mike a higher rating I would. He is super reasonable price wise and just a pleasure to have in my home. He has always been super knowledgeable and is happy explaining what he is doing. I wouldn't want to use anyone else.
Mike recently replaced my boiler and indirect hot water tank and did an awesome job. He's great great about explaining the different options available, gives his recommendation (and why) and then thoroughly completes the job. Should be noted that his recommendation was not the most expensive option on the table - he recommended two products that fit my home and our lifestyle. He even helped me with the Mass Saves paperwork and helped explain different rebates and warranties etc. on the new equipment. All in all a great experience and we'll be using him for our yearly inspections/cleanings of the boiler moving forward as well.
