Unfortunately, we have bought three units within three years from polar bear and two have had issues requiring $$ to fix within 18 months. One was apparently due to a filter that was never installed. This was apparently our responsibility, but I have no record of any communication indicating we had to take action for our unit to work properly. When the other one was 14 months old, we were asked to pay $150 for them to just come take a look when it, too, stopped working. Other companies, like John C Flood, are a little pricier for installation—but the quality of their work is better and customer service is better.

Polar Bear is honest and their pricing seems fair. They’ve never tried to get me to buy items we didn’t need. The same techs have been coming to our house for years … they must run a good shop to keep employees that long.

Polar Bear technicians are typically on time, prepared for my particular needs, and the always brief me on their findings. They even change the filters.

I manage a 150+ year old converted townhouse in DC. Polar Bear AC provides fast service to fix our heating and AC, along with annual service visits to make sure things are working. highly recommend!

From beginning contract stage to the complete installation and cleanup, everything I wanted and more. POLAR BEAR did my original new system when I moved up to central air. They did ductwork planning and equipment. Many years later, time to upgrade the new equipment. My idea of a great business is to welcome them in at appointed time, let them do their job, meet again hours later and after learning about the success, say good day and THANKS. You will be happy you chose POLAR BEAR.

Did not complete work as indicated in contract (though did take out money from final invoice, our $10k system will need repair soon). Left ceiling in disrepair. Spoke to me and my wife in a demeaning way.

I made the mistake of calling a different AC company to repair my system bc Polar Bear was super busy. I wasted a week dealing with the other company who in the end could not fix my system. One visit from Polar Bear and everything is working again. I will never NOT call Polar Bear again and wait however long it may take to get their technicians to my house. They are worth the wait!!

The technicians were very friendly and took the time to explain the problem, what they did to fix it, and what I can do in the future to prevent future problems (without judgement!). They worked quickly and efficiently.

I have been a customer of Polar Bear for several years for both my own residence and a rental property. Friendly and reliable service and every effort made to come out when urgent due to very hot or cold weather when there are many other callers seeking service.

Angel was superb at figuring out the problem, treating it properly and discussing options for the future. Thank you for your advice!

Our heater stopped working and it very cold in our house. Polar Bear did come out on a Sunday in a timely manner. The owner seemed friendly. He was wearing a mask but it kept coming down as he was talking so it was pointless. He told me I needed a new furnace costing $5200. My furnace is only 10 years old, we bought a very good model and was told it would last 15 to 20 years. He told a very inappropriate political joke during our conversation and is very good at selling. He went on and on about why it wasn’t worth repairing. I thanked him and decided on a second opinion. The next day another company came in and repaired it for $750.00 and assured me the furnace will be good for another 10 years. The parts they repaired were not even close to what Polar Bear said was wrong with it. Buyer beware and always get a second opinion. I do not recommend Polar Bear!

Polar Bear installed a ductless mini-split for us and they were some of the best contractors that I have ever dealt with. We needed to convert a sun room into a home office. A sales rep came out to discuss options and look at the space. He walked through all the details from where the unit would go to the conduit lines. When the unit we ordered couldn't be delivered, they upgraded our unit at their expense. Great company, highly recommended!

Unprofessional and Rude. 1. Offered to respond same-day on the phone but then waited over the weekend to respond. 2. Wanted nearly $300 to do a diagnostic which had already been completed video'd and written up. 3. Was rude on the phone. Not interested in discussing. Hung up on me. Dealt with Sherry... Probably wouldn't hire or recommend Polar bear to do the job if they were half the price of their competitors at this point. Good luck.

Overpriced, rude, inefficient, and do a poor job of installing ac/heat vent ducting. It was was a nightmare to get Joe and crew to finish the job. I have also had to call them out to repair their installation more than once. I would not use them if you can avoid it.

We contracted Polar Bear for a complete central A/C install. The entire process was smooth! They communicated exceptionally well, were very friendly, and most importantly - DELIVERED WHAT THEY PROMISED! Polar Bear is exactly the kind of small business that you hope you encounter. Strongly recommend them as they know their trade and do everything to give you what you need at a great value. Cannot say enough positive things about Joe, James, Edwin and the entire group that helped to update our home! Thanks Guys!

I gave this business 1 star because they definitely tried to hustle me. They sent the technician Angel to check out an issue with my HVAC. Angel was unable to diagnose the issue because he ran out of time. Angel told me that he would return to troubleshoot and repair. When I called to reschedule I was told that two technicians need to troubleshoot the issue and I would have to pay $160/hour for EACH technician. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard and I will NEVER use this company again. Why would I pay 320/hour when it could take 2 hours to diagnose. That is more than what I paid Silas to troubleshoot, replace wires/heatstrip etc. So my advice is to contact Silas for your HVAC needs.
