I googled "Outdoor Air Conditioner fan motor", and got 17 motors to choose from. I averaged their price and it came to an average price of $139, with the lowest price of $60. Now that is retail for a single motor, but 72 Degrees likely buys them in large quantities and may even pay a wholesale price. Worst case, they are paying $100 for these outdoor electric motors. They charged me $583, but that was including labor. They didn't break out the cost of labor. However, the fan required 4 bolts and two wire connections which would pessimistically take 15 minutes. So at a unrealistically high labor estimate of $200/hour, that would be $50 labor, with $100 parts for $150. So a charge of $250 would have been more appropriate, but $583 is nearly a 400% markup! Excessive. Unconscionable. I'm an 80 year old living on Social Security and 72 Degrees charged a total of over FOUR THOUSAND dollars, which if the markup on the fan motor is any indication, is an exorbitant 300%+, or $2,000+ profit. The technician was great, and the work well done, but fair is fair.

My wall heater was unable to turn on. I called the Cooper Brothers heating company for repairing it. When the dispatched technician arrived and inspected the heater, I was told that my wall heater needs to be replaced with a new one because there was two crack lines noted. I was also told there were only two options for me to choose, one was replacing it, and other was asking other people to do it, but not him because of his safety concerns. I decided to change it because of the cracks found by the technician. However, when the technician removed my original wall heater next day and tried to install a new one, I could not find any cracks on the old one. Therefore, I asked the technician to show me where were the cracks he found? The technician suddenly became very agitated and shouted that “ If you changed your mind not to replace it, I can place the old one back and go home. I suppose to be with my family today. You wasted my time.” I assured him that I would surely like to change the old heater if he could kindly show me where the cracks were.” He yelled that “you go and ask somebody to do it. I am done. I am putting the old one back and leaving.” In the end, nothing was done by the Cooper Brothers Heating company.

Cooper Brothers is outstanding. Not only did they fit me in for a repair and then new furnace installation during an extremely busy time ahead of the holidays, but they were so responsive, pleasant to work with and on time. The technician who initially serviced my furnace (Patrick) took his time to really investigate and try to solve the issue while explaining in layman’s terms what he was doing. He was responsive when I called the next day and came right back out to give me a fair bid for a new furnace and the office called the next day to schedule an installation a couple days later. The installers (Shane and Jonathan) arrived on time, were very pleasant, hard workers who got the new furnace and other necessary equipment installed and working quickly all at a fair price. I highly recommend Cooper Brothers and was so pleased with the whole experience.

I have used Cooper Brothers several times over the years, and family and friends have employed them upon my recommendation! I have always had good experiences, and the most recent was no exception. Patrick H. came to my house to evaluate my upstairs furnace, which was not acting right. He spent significant time going over the whole unit, and as I pretty much suspected, found that it needed to be replaced. In the course of his inspection, Patrick found that I had a carbon monoxide leak upstairs by my bedrooms. He shut down the system and advised me to not try to use it until he had returned to replace the furnace. He also took the time to inspect my downstairs furnace while he was here, which was a bonus! Patrick came back three days later (on a holiday weekend, at that!) and literally labored over the replacement of the furnace, which he found had been inexplicably epoxied in place by the original installer. No easy job and he worked VERY hard! Besides his ability to perform the work, Patrick was super friendly and upbeat and kept me informed throughout both of his visits. No one enjoys paying for stuff like this - but Patrick at least took some of the pain away by being a nice, responsible worker. And now I have heat again!!
