He took the time to compare quotes from other companies and cut through the big promises of others to show true comparisons of cost. Completely new HVAC system/upgrade. Replaced our 25 year old furnace, improved ductwork and added (finally) central air. Provided professional service and care, was responsive, reasonably priced, and gained a long-term customer. Even took the time to make me smarter in HVAC systems in general.
Summary: Expert knowledge, service, and competitive pricing! When I had saved up enough money to look at adding central AC to my house, I had three different companies come out to provide me with estimates. I am one of those people who does a lot of research before making major purchases, and I had a ton of questions for all of them. I asked about filtration systems to mitigate wildfire smoke, the differences between stage one and stage two AC and heating systems, smart thermostats, etc. Of the three different companies, Isaac Hackler was by far the most knowledgeable person, and in his design proposal he suggested things that the other companies did not (e.g., the importance of minimizing the air pressure drop across the filtration system to ensure that I still had a good air flow throughout the house, and cautioning me that the 90’s era ventilation ducts in my house may result in uneven heating and cooling). Isaac was also very responsive in sending out updated quotes when I decided to change things, and he was able to install my system in one day. And did I mention that he was the most competitive bid? I have now had my new HVAC system for nearly 14 months, just had Isaac complete his first annual “tune-up” of the system, and I figured it was time to submit a review. It has performed flawlessly in both the summer and winter, with only a couple of degrees difference in temperatures between my upstairs office and the main floor of the house. We have also had several days with poor outdoor air quality due to wildfire smoke, and thanks to my electrostatic air filter and and iWave-R ionizer, the air has been wonderfully clean in my house during this time. I am more than satisfied with performance of my HVAC system, and if I could go back and change things, I think I would have simply trusted Isaac’s suggestions as the subject matter expert and asked him a low fewer questions. We hired True North Heating to install a Mini Split unit in our office and he provided a great rate, but from day one there was issues with his professionalism. He had excuse after excuse for not showing up when he said he would. He would be unresponsive for weeks and then show up out of the blue to work on the project. He claims that he would give his phone to a 3rd party agency to take messages for him while he was on vacation. Who does this? I'm a business owner and like most professionals, I will have an auto-reply on my email explaining I'm out of the office but responding the best I can. Isaac just doesn't respond for weeks at a time. If this was all I had to complain about, I might be giving him a 3 star, but the worst is the fact that the unit we paid over $10k for didn't work for more than 1-2 months. He came out and tried to fix it a couple times by resetting the breaker. This didn't fix the problem. It appeared that Isaac was at a loss of what to do. He tried calling the manufacturer to get their help and then he just gave up and stopped responding. We had to hire another company to come out and fix it. We had to pay another technician $1,758 to fix all the simple novice mistakes that Isaac did. Most of what was done was simply tightening the joints as they were loose and gas was leaking out. Perhaps Isaac knows his stuff on traditional residential central heaters and AC units, but when it comes to Mini-split units, he is not competent. I'm trying to get him to do the right thing and pay the repair bill, but he won't respond. I wouldn't trust this man for your job.

Had Isaac over for routine furnace maintenance. Very thorough, friendly, and professional. He checked for gas leaks, verified CO2 monitors were functioning and up to date, and he even noticed that our humidifier was improperly installed. We will definitely be calling him back for our future needs!

After several disappointing experiences over the years with other Colorado Springs HVAC companies due to unreasonable pricing for average work, we found Isaac at True North Heating and Cooling. We were in need of a total Furnace and Air Conditioning replacement for a 14-year-old system. We interviewed Isaac to describe our requirements and understand his recommendations for replacement systems. Isaac was fabulous with a deep understanding of HVAC technology and the unique challenges of high altitude HVAC and the ability to explain solid rationale in a way we could understand. We accepted Isaac's recommendation for replacement systems and hired Isaac to do the installation work. His efforts resulted in a clean, complete and effective system installation that was praised by the PPRBD inspector. Isaac is the best Heating and Cooling expert that I have ever worked with. He is knowledgeable, thorough and a great communicator. He doesn't upsell you into something you don't need, just takes care of the problems provides his guidance. I trust Isaac with all of my heating and air needs.

Isaac was very responsive and informative on my initial call. He offered a timely appointment that fit into my schedule. He was prompt and courteous throughout the appointment. He thioroughly serviced the furnace explaining what I should do for maintenance which was very helpful. He ordered the specialized filter for the Trane component. (Other services had told ME to look it up and install the piece myself!!) I will keep his name use him in the future and recommend True North to family and friends. Very thorough!!!
