I've been a VERY satisfied Prendergast customer since the spring of 2010 when as a new homeowner, I called seeking help because my gas burner wasn't working. Tom Prendergast spent 15 minutes on the phone trying to help me troubleshoot. I had called another company before and the guy came out and charged $150 (in 2010!) to tell me I accidentally switched off the emergency shut off on the basement stairs. I signed up for a yearly gas burner service contract with Prendergast and not only me, but eventually all my fellow condo association residents did too. The service for which we receive a discount (the tech comes out annually to clean and check our gas burners) includes "no heat" calls; discounts on parts and labor, etc. --- it is WELL WORTH the cost. Last year, on June 4th, I had Tom and his colleagues install a Mitsubishi heat pump --- which provides air conditioning and electric heat much more efficiently than gas. I have waited a year to write a review to track the costs (the a/c and its comfort literally COST LESS than when I had 7 fans going continually to limited effect in that the indoor temp reached the upper 80s!). I LOVE the a/c but do not abuse it. It's been a beautiful summer and I keep my many windows open. But when I need a/c it's there. The heat also works beautifully, quickly. I can control them temp in each room. I own a 854 sq foot condo. So I tend to use the main two larger units and rarely need the smaller bedroom unit. But during an intensely cold snap in the winter, the bedroom unit came in handy. Tom's employees are as conscientious as he is. A number have worked for him for years. I spent about $16,800 - $875 for a Mass Save credit (received a check). I was very comfortable and did not ONCE use the gas burner. Tom and his colleagues advised me to keep it in case of super cold times. I will do so for a few more years but will probably end of getting rid of it. Tom and his teams are very professional, very honest and very sincere to do their work. They changed my burner and my oil tank. Also, they have maintained the heating system. I will ask them to install the ductless AC system with heat pump now. I'm very satisfied with their work. I highly recommend them for these work.

Predergast is our go too place for all HVAC & heating services. From installing a new air handler and compressor, to adding a new radiator, to fixing a frozen pipe. Knowledgeable people, timely and leave the place clean & tidy. 10/10
Tom and Prendergast Oil don't even deserve one star for they way Tom treated us, but that is the only way I can post this.....our experience with Tom was a nightmare.... Tom's crew installed ductless heat pumps (presumably unknowingly) using defective line sets that corroded after approximately a year and a half, causing coolant to leak, rendering the system inoperable. He could not find the source of the leak even after numerous house calls until he finally read about defective lines sets in an online heating forum which he forwarded to me. Since he forwarded me the info on the defective lines, I asked him when he would be able to change the lines...to which he responded, "it's not my problem, it's not on me...and it would cost several thousand dollars to change". Even though we felt it wasn't our responsibility to bear the cost to replace the lines, my husband and I asked him to give us a quote to change the defective lines as we have been unable to use our ductless heat pump/AC unit for several years now. We emailed and called Tom several times. He never responded to us except to send us a bill for the freon he put in our system while he was trying to find the source of the leak. We asked again for some cooperation and he responded by sending another bill now with a finance charge added to it. Tom does NOT stand behind his work and has taken NO responsibility for using faulty parts. He would not even tell us the name of the manufacturer of the defective lines when we asked. We would NOT recommend him to anyone!

I had a state of the art furnace installed, but within a few years was told, "you need to replace it". We can't find parts for it. We are talking about a $12,000. heating system. On a last ditch effort I contacted Prendergast Oil. AM I GLAD I DID! After a visit to our home I was told, "you have a great system, it needs a little TLC." A service call was scheduled and minor cleaning and adjusting was performed. The service techs arrived on time, and asked "is there an entrance to your home where we won't track any dirt in?" Courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and HONEST! We are beyond grateful to have found this company. YOU WILL BE TREATED FAIRLY AND GET YOUR NEEDS MET.
When my old boler died, Pendergast was able to help us size and install brand new heating and HVAC system. Their technicians were courteous, prompt and very knowledgeable. I would recommend Pendergast Oil to all for their heating and HVAC needs!
We have been customers of Prendergast Oil for over 20 years and have nothing but good things to tell about their service and support. Prendergast installed our AC system and water heater and has been servicing these since. I highly recommend them for such equipment installation and service.
We bought a new System 2000 oil boiler and new oil tank from Prendergast Oil several years ago. I was very happy with the products and installation. The new boiler is about 20% more efficient than the old one it replaced. Since then Prendergast has done our annual boiler service to keep it running efficiently.
