I had a bad experience with Metropolitan. First, technician diagnosed my AC problem wrong, causing big cost overrun. When the same problem occurred in another AC unit, technician came out, "diagnosed" problem and said he'd get back about the availability of the necessary part. Over two weeks later, during a heatwave, there was still no word from him. After waiting for 16 days, I called the office and asked for status update: They did not even bother to call back. Three days later, I called them again, and this time they said that the technician had told me to call tech support myself, which is absurd. Why would I do the technician's work for him!? After losing all trust in Metropolitan, I'm going with another company.
The team at Metropolitan just completed a significant job at my place in the Back Bay and I'm am very pleased with their professionalism and quality of work - from start to finish. They worked long days and were polite, respectful, and professional all along the way. I appreciated their timely arrival and their clear communication - I knew when they would start each morning and what to expect. And, the project was fairly and appropriately budgeted. I highly recommend Metropolitan - and did exactly that to the other tenants in my building as soon as my job was complete!
At first I reviewed the only two previous reviews (one five star and one 1star) and I was hesitating to call them. Anyway, I still did call them and explained the details about the heating issue. I told them the issue would come only when it was operating in a couple of hours. I was hoping that they could think of some potential causes based on my description and take a check. All that guy did was just turn on the heater and feel warm air coming out and done! I already explained to them that initially it would work well. He literally did nothing and told me everything that I knew already! They should either ask me to recreate the issue before coming or check individual components that may cause the issue. That one star review was so true about this company!! They are so unprofessional at work, but so professional about sending bills!!! I'm willing to pay if they solve the issue, but he just came and left. They care more about money than service. Lesson learned: always trust the one star reviews.

December 18, 2017 John from metropolitan air conditioning showed up for an “after 5:00pm urgent call” my climatemaster heat pump was randomly shutting off and with a very sick husband I was willing to pay for after hours service. After 3 leisurely trips back and forth to his truck, John measured the temperature in my vents and because the heat randomly kicked back on was convinced nothing was wrong. I explained that something was wrong because I feared it would kick off as soon as he left. Called the company yesterday to complain and explain the seriousness with heat pump shutting off during this current below zero temps. Philip the owner insisted that John was competent and maybe something was wrong with my building’s water supply. No, because I have other units and nothing is wrong with those heat pumps. Made another emergency call to Metropoloitan at 4:00am this morning complaining... hoping the owner, Philip will do the right thing and send someone who is willing to fix the heat pump or refund the money that was paid. Not right especially when a senior is in the home recovering from a serious illness in temps below 0 degrees outside!!! Collecting nearly $400.00 and not addressing the issue is not right! I’m willing to pay for work but nothing was done!!!
